We have had many great families stay with us and we have been blessed with terrific guests and put a lot of effort to ensure they have wonderful experiences in Park City. But in this case our screening process failed. The guest misled us from the start, saying they were traveling with 4-adults and an infant for a “family” ski trip. Upon booking they switched to 5-adults and an infant, which is fine as the unit has a king and two queens and we supplied a crib as well. However, after check-in we discovered the guest was the manager of a mortgage company and was traveling to Park City for a “sales rally”. On the second night at midnight, we started receiving threats from the guest demanding thousands of dollars. We immediately contacted VRBO who advised us no refunds were owed and our descriptions and photos were clear and detailed. After staying 14 days, clogging our drains requiring multiple trips from the plumber, and getting our first noise complaint in our history from the HOA, the guest’s trip was finally complete. However, the devious behavior continued. The guest then did a chargeback on their credit card for the entire amount of their two week stay, attempting to stiff us for the entire amount. There is currently an investigation and information being turned over to all the proper authorities and organizations. VRBO was alerted to all the deception and is reviewing past incidents as well. Unfortunately, there are guests like this that ruin things for others. We set up the unit for families and had we not been misled; we would not have rented to this guest as this is our second home and not set up for raucous sales groups.

Michael, we are shocked and disappointed by this review. In our time renting with VRBO we have not even received one complaint and only have gotten 5-star reviews. Unfortunately, when you booked your reservation, you stated you had 4-guests, only to tell us the week of you had 6 and possibly more coming which is not allowed. When guests book with 3-couples we make them aware of the loft being an open loft concept, but you stated you had 4-guests that is why we didn't speak about the loft. We built a custom island to accommodate cooking and eating in comfort. Most units in Red Pine only have seating for 4-guests so seating for 7 is typically one of our guest's top positives regarding the chalet. We are sorry you didn't like the mattresses as it must be preference since we have been asked by many guests for the name of the brand so they can purchase them for their homes. You must not have noticed there are two extra rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom in the receptacle under your initial role and even more under the sink. I can't speak to any cat toys as we have never heard this. The prior owners may have a cat, but the chalet was remodeled and that was years ago. It is very unlikely your health issues were in any way related to your stay with us. If three people in your group are highly allergic, it may be prudent to take specific precautions in the future.
