Log Cabin Waterfront getaway at Buckeye Lake featured in the 2019 Tour of Homes

"My father would align the rising sun with the dock for a perfect day." Our newly remodeled cabin provides an all knotty pine, open airy floor plan with lots of windows, two spacious bedrooms with queen size beds and a overhead bunk, bathroom with stand up shower, large open living room with eat in area, and kitchen with full size appliances, and a washer and dryer. A large porch faces the lakefront with a lovely lakeside yard. Our cabin is a charming, cozy, and immaculate lakefront get away that will accommodate up to a five person family or two adult couples. Dogs are welcome.

Conveniently located in the Millersport area- we are close to everything!! Take a short walk down the street to the Weldon's home made ice cream shop for a delicious treat. There are local restaurants in Millersport, a short drive or walk away, or stay home and grill your own meal with a view of the lake.

The perfect vacation spot for the entire family. There is a shallow area for the little ones to play and deeper water for swimming and floating. Buckeye Lake also has great fishing, either by boat or off the private deck. We recommend that you check local fishing license requirements prior to your visit. If you have your own boat you can explore the lake, canals, and water accessible restaurants. Buckeye Lake has no horsepower restrictions. No boat, no problem... you can set up a tour with a local boat tour company and explore the lake. The front yard offers a great, unobstructed view of the lake where you can enjoy coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening, or sit a relax outside with your favorite book with peaceful sounds of nature.

This log cabin was built on old Summerland Beach in 1946 from logs purchased in Michigan and brought to Buckeye Lake. It is located in front of the old hotel, where the paddle boat would bring passengers from Buckeye Lake Amusement Park. It's strong history and recent updates were a few of the many reason this home was featured in the 2019, 34th annual Buckeye Lake Tour of Homes.

Cozy Cabin

This place was amazing. Cozy cabin with spectacular lake views. The cabin was well furnished and comfortable and the owners provided almost any necessity imaginable. The lake view is spectacular and we were able to catch fish right from the dock. Plenty of dining options nearby. Great place with great owners!

Perfection

We were in town for our daughter’s wedding and decided to rent this cute little cottage. It was charming, very clean and nestled in a very quiet area of the lake. We are now talking about going back every year. Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 5 STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH!!!!!!!

I can't say enough about the Rising Sun log cabin. It was truly one of the BEST properties my family and i have ever stayed. Larry and Susan are the most kind, pleasant, and down to earth Hosts. The cabin is BEAUTIFUL. The lake is breathtaking. We relaxed and fished every day. Actually caught a lot of catfish. We were able to take some home. The house is immaculate. It was spotless. We were very impressed with how clean it was. Just not on the surface. The house felt clean. The pictures do this home no justice. The proximity to the lake is literally just out the front door. We had snacks and coffee to welcome us. Larry and Susan really made sure you felt like another family member coming to their home. If i could give 100 stars I would. The home had EVERYTHING you would need for a comfortable stay. We will definitely return. Larry and Susan, Thank you so much for welcoming my family to your home. You two are the absolute BEST!!!!!! day

Comfortable Clean Cabin On The Water

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Larry and Susie's cabin on Buckeye Lake. It was our first time to this lake and it will hopefully not be our last. The cabin is a great size for a couple or a small family with children. Susie had it spotless when we arrived and even had a goodie basket with coffee pods and snacks! I went mainly to fish and my wife to relax and read. I took my boat and tied up to their dock. Fishing was great around the lake (I caught Blugill, Crappie, Saugeye,and Bass), but I had just as much fun catching Catfish right off the dock. There were numerous large Carp around the docks as well because they happened to be spawning when we were there. It's a little tight for parking a trailer at the cabin depending on the size of boat you have, but Larry is very accommodating and will help in any way he can, even storing your trailer at his house if need be. There is a lot to do in the area from hiking to bicycling to restaurants. Larry and Susie were probably the nicest most helpful people we've ever rented from and want to be sure that you enjoy your stay and return again.

We had a wonderful time here. It was beautifully decorated, the hosts were very friendly and provided everything we could have needed. The property is beautiful as well. We spent many nights and mornings laying in the sun and watching the highly active fish and other wildlife. The beds were comfortable and had everything we needed in the kitchen, as well as a washer and dryer for our clothing! We will definitely be back to go fishing and boating in the future!

Lovely quaint cabin!

Cabin was beautifully decorated for fall and has all the amenities you could ask for. Location on the water was perfect for sunrise. Very quiet area and close to cute shops and wonderful coffee house. Would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous View!

Quaint house directly on the lake. Owners were lovely, House immaculately clean. We did a sunset cruise with Uncle Buck and highly recommend! Only feedback would be more lawn seating.

We were unable to make the trip this year due to a new baby and family Life Celebration. Larry and Susie are wonderful hosts and we love their family home. Their home is definitely on our return list and hope to return!!!

Rustic Relaxation

Really enjoyed our stay at Larry and Susan's awesome, cozy, lakeside spot. We had beautiful fall weather to enjoy the views from both the back porch and from inside the warm cabin. Loved the 1940's ambiance and decor to go with all of the usual conveniences of a furnished vacation home. Spent a lot of time hiking around the lake and nearby parks. Loved how close we were to the city of Columbus as well.

Perfect Lake Cabin

Beautiful & Relaxing Stay

Beautiful home, the view was amazing, the home has everything you need and the owners are just the kindest most accommodating people ever! Larry and Susie went out of their way to make sure my stay was nothing short of amazing. I could not recommend this home more. Our stay at Buckeye Lake at Rising Sun.

Our stay at Buckeye Lake was very enjoyable. The cottage was clean and the lake views were awesome. Fishing right from the dock was fun caught a bunch of catfish. Took a Boat ride from Captain Buck Boat tours highly recommend . Overall had a Great time.

Buckeye Lake getaway

This is exactly the vacation we needed.

I'm retired but my wife is still working and the title "This is exactly the Vacation we needed" were her exact words". The property is very well kept. Everything worked. The owners left us all basic needs and then some. There were no bad surprises and no regrets. The Log cottage was beautiful! It's a one of a kind building right on the lake. It's truly a Gem! So very unique. We really appreciated that it was also dog Friendly. The back yard is fenced in which is also a plus for a dog owner. The place was exceptionally clean. We didn't have to bring towels or bedding. Though they had dishes, they also provided paper plates. The LED lights under the bed that detect movement was also a neat touch for when you get up in the night. The fishing was great right off the owners dock. I caught 12 catfish one day in about a 2 hour time period which was a mix of Channel and Blue cats. The bed was very comfortable. The furniture was more than adequate. We normally vacation at the beach, but my mother and siblings live in the Licking county area and we wanted to visit them and just relax and this place was perfect for that. We showed the place to some of my siblings and a Friend and they all loved it and my friend and his wife plan to rent it sometime. One doesn't have to travel far either to find great food. Some local favorites of mine are the Pizza Cottage and La Paloma in Heath. You have to try their Beef and Cheese Sopapilla! I don't know if I mentioned it but the cost we felt was very reasonable too. We really loved it and we will likely come here again sometime.

In 1945 my father, his brother and two uncles returned WWII, and all had received the Purple Heart. As my mother and father were driving around the Buckeye Lake my mother found the lot was for sale . At this time it was still being used as the beach for the hotel located behind the cabin. She convinced my grandfather to purchase the land and he purchased the cabin in the state of Michigan and it was constructed on the beach here at Buckeye Lake . This was used as a summer cabin and a place where all the families would gather. This was my favorite place to come to and play, stay all night and wait for that 'rising sun' so I could get out there and fish and go boating.

To my parents this location had the very best view of the lake and the Buckeye Lake paddle wheel boat would unload the passengers from the Buckeye Lake Amusement Park to the hotel behind the cabin. To protect our cabin, this is a smoke free home.

Location. A short distance from Interstate 70. Close to the State Park for the use of the boat ramps. It is the only private drive on this end of the lake, so there is no traffic for noise or safety. The fishing out front is great and the Bald Eagles love to fish out in front of the cabin. This bay is always the calmest water on the lake. Location Location Location.
