"Im Bergli", new holiday chalet (2014) with stunning views and free Wi-Fi

In 2014 we had a traditional Swiss chalet built in Goldiwil, with a beautiful view of the Bernese Alps. Only 5 km from the town of Thun, in a quiet village, lies this chalet at 1000 meters above sea level. It is a suitable location for walks in the area and in the surrounding mountains. This text was originally written in Dutch and automatically translated into other languages, so apologies for the errors.

We live on the top two floors of the chalet and have a holiday home available on the bottom floor, called "Im Bergli" with private entrance and terrace, which can be a good home base during a wonderful holiday or a working visit in Switzerland. The home is fully equipped. There is a double bedroom and a small bedroom for 1 adult or up to two children. An open kitchen in a living room with a sitting area and a dining area with beautiful views of the mountains. Directly in front of the dining room you have a private, partially covered, terrace and you also have a lower located (accessible via stairs) private parking space in front of the chalet. Chalet with a view

We have been renting properties through VRBO for years. This property is one of the best, by far. There was plenty of room, comfortable bed, fully stocked kitchen, nice and clean bathroom. The views can’t be beat. Lovely patio area to take it all in. Local grocery store just a couple minutes walk. Frank, the host, was extremely helpful both before and during the trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay and surroundings

Couldn’t have chosen a better place. The contact and info that Frank provided was so helpful. The apartment was immaculate and the view STUNNING. We enjoyed every minute and would go back again in the future. The buses and trains were easy to figure out and made the trip delightful. Miss it already‼️

Photos do not do this location justice! What a lovely, cozy but spacious apartment. Comfortable beds and great water pressure in the shower. Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful area, so much to see and do. Lovely host, very helpful and attentive.

Im Bergli was just as described and more.

Frank and Elizabeth were fabulous and delightful hosts. The pictures of the apartment are very accurate. It is clean and comfortable and the nightly sunsets were the bonus. Im Bergli is in a great central location for visiting the Emmental, Gruyeres, Bern, the Alps and so much more. We enjoyed our visit immensely and hope to be able to go back very soon.

Comfy, beautiful & calm

Me and my two friends had an amazing time at Frank’s Im Bergli! The apartment is in top conditions, with beautiful interior design and especially the heated floor was super comfortable. The panorama was breathtaking. Frank was very friendly and helpful with all questions regarding tourists trips in the area. We’d love to come back any time!

Perfect place for our family

This was a beautiful place to stay for our family of 4. We have a 3 and 4 year old and they loved the trampoline. The views were spectacular. The location was fantastic for our week stay, as we traveled between Thun, Bern, and Interlaken. Frank was a wonderful host, being sure my family had what we need, and helping answer questions before our arrival. The beds were comfortable. The shower was wonderful (perfect water pressure). The kitchen offered exactly what we needed for our visit.

The most wonderful, beautiful views!

This was my favorite place to stay out of the 3 places we stayed on our European vacation. The chalet is beautiful, the views absolutely spectacular. The best part of all were our hosts. Frank was so helpful, and guided us and helped with any questions we had. We were so sad to leave. I can't recommend this place enough. You won't be disappointed!

Beautiful chalet in the Swiss alps

Staying in your chalet was a highlight of our visit to Europe. The home was beautiful and comfortable, even more spacious than the photos, and had the most amazing view of anyplace we visited. We hope to return one day, and would love to stay here again. Thanks for your hospitality and for the outstanding visit. A special thanks for the advice on places to visit and transportation available in the area. A great bonus was the discount card for free bus travel and discounts on trains, boats, and other sights in the area!

Perfect Place

Our stay was amazing! This vacation rental was all that was described AND MORE! Frank was a dream - he provided us with a warm welcome, and made us feel very comfortable. He provided suggestions and recommended places to see and where to eat. I can’t recommend this property enough! If and when our travels take us back to the beautiful country of Switzerland ( fingers crossed ) we would stay here again. Perfectly located to take day trips all over the country. Cute apartment with gorgeous views

From the beginning, Frank was extremely responsive and made check in a breeze. He was friendly and made sure we felt at home. The location is about 8 minutes up a windy road from Thun but the views are fantastic and worth the drive. A little grocery store nearby has anything that you’d want - we picked up rolls and cheese and such for breakfast. There is a bus stop for a ride down to Thun a 1 minute walk away. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

Beautiful Chalet in a Perfect Location

If you are looking for an authentic Swiss village and a quiet timeout with incredible views- Im Bergli is the place! Walking trails with breathtaking views are right off the property. The sheep next door were picturesque but quiet all night. My husband and I traveled alone, but wish our kids could have joined us for this awesome porperty. This is a perfect place for families, groups, or a romantic getaway. The bed was comfortable, the property extremely clean, and Frank was a very helpful host! It was easy to access, Bern, Thun, and Interlaken from this property. 100% recommend!

Breathtaking views

Im Bergli was the perfect place to stay for our family of 4. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Bathroom comes with plenty of towels. Beds are comfortable and cozy. Every morning we ate breakfast and watched the mist slowly disappear and reveal the beautiful views of the countryside. Easy drive to many places such as Interlacken, Bern, Grindlewald and more. The place offers gorgeous views of the mountains and town of Thun below. There is a shuttle which will take you down to town where there are many shops to explore, restaurants to try yummy things at, and grocery stores to stock up. Easy access to train for venturing to further places such as Zermatt. The owner, Frank, couldn't have been any friendlier. It felt like he was an old friend, providing us with info of places we didn't have on our list and things to do on the day it was raining. He was excellent at communicating with us before our trip as well. We made great memories and hope to go back soon.

AMAZING!! Million dollar view, modern comforts, great price

I will definitely be back! The pictures do not lie, the view really is that amazing. Frank is an excellent host, he really cares about providing his guests with a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable stay. No language barriers for us as Americans. He can give you excellent recommendations for things to do that are off-the-beaten-path. The bed was comfy and soft, the shower was fabulous (amazing water pressure), the kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal. The patio is fabulous and quiet. There are 2 adorable sheep for neighbors that we really enjoyed watching play while we sat out on the patio. Don't worry, they are not loud at all. There is a large parking space if you travel by car. There is a bus stop about a 2 minute walk away that will take you down to the city center quickly, by which you can get anywhere else. There is also a nice small grocery store that is about a 1 minute walk away, very convenient. When you stay here, there is a regional Thunersee pass that you are given when you pay the tourist tax (we stayed 5 nights, and it was 24 CHF for the both of us) - this gives you free travel through the area on public transport, as well as discounts on things like nearby cable cars, museums, attractions, and discounts at some shops/restaurants. We were able to put this to good use - we saved more than the 24 chf we paid for it. Absolutely stay here, it is spotless clean, modern, safe, quiet, and incredibly comfortable.

The Best!

We hardly know where to start when it comes to summing up how much we enjoyed and appreciated our stay at Im Bergli. Having looked forward to a stay there for a long time, we were finally able to to travel again when covid restrictions eased and travel to Europe from Canada was once again possible. As with all vacation rentals, we kept our fingers crossed that we would not be disappointed on arrival. We weren't. Everything was exactly as portrayed in the photos and description. Our pleasure was enhanced by the immaculate presentation of the apartment and the intense attention to detail. Frank and Elisabeth went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed - and more. We stayed for six days and felt, when we left, that we were leaving new friends, rather than just 'hosts'. The warmth of their hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable and although they never intruded, we were always happy to see them and enjoy conversations. The apartment itself is well laid out and thoughtfully equipped. It lacks for nothing. The shower in particular is worthy of note - the size and the water pressure make it a delight. We could go on more about things, but you probably already get the general impression that this place cannot be improved upon. A final note with regard to the location - peaceful and tranquil. Church clock gently chiming the hours and the feel of a small community of residents, not visitors. The view is amazing. Thun is a short drive away and offers all the facilities of a reasonable size town, with a lot of charming antiquity thrown in. Further destinations around the Berner Oberland are all easily doable. We have no hesitation strongly recommending Im Bergli. We shall ourselves be returning, without doubt. Thank you, Elisabeth and Frank, for giving us a wonderful stay. Great property and everything we were expecting.

Frank was a generous host. He and his family have a beautiful property in an equally beautiful location. It was the perfect location for my wife and I to use as central jumping off point for Bern, Basel, Interlaken, etc.

Wir haben eine tolle Woche Im Bergli verbracht und es hat uns wirklich an nichts gefehlt. Die Wohnung ist modern und super ausgestattet. In der Küche findet man alles was man zum Kochen benötigt, ausreichend Geschirr und scharfe Messer(!). Das Badezimmer ist geräumig und modern. Absolutes Highlight ist der Blick auf die Berge. Ob beim Frühstück oder bei einem Glas Wein am Abend auf der großen Terrasse - ein Ausblick, den wir noch deutlich länger hätten genießen können. Vielen Dank Frank für den lieben und unkomplizierten Kontakt. Wir haben den Aufenthalt bei euch sehr genossen!

Schöne und zweckmässig eingerichtete Wohnung hoch über Thun

Die Wohnung ist auf knapp 1000 müM an ruhiger, sonniger Aussichtslage. Sie ist schön und zweckmässig eingerichtet. Frank, der Vermieter, wohnt im gleichen Haus und ist sehr hilfsbereit. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl.
