It was a nice and clean place. Hot tub was on and ready, clean towels and sheets. Plenty of space for us all. Only issues we had the whole time there were the beds, the steep hike down the hill to the doc, and the doc itself. The beds were hard has a rock, I think the description it should say something about extra firm beds. The trail down the hill to the doc wasn’t very well maintained and we couldn’t use it to take swimming stuff down to the doc. The doc had several rotten planks and 2 trees that have fallen into the water next to the doc made it to were we couldn’t use the doc to swim off of.

A beautiful home. I would definitely stay againThe rental company handling the rental was nice The house spacious I would recommend bringing own specific kitchen items especially kitchen towels they had plenty of cook wear and plates etc but I would bring paper towels, dish washer tablets and laundry detergent none were available but there is a store not to far.It is in a great location and plenty of parking Not on lake honestly not a lake view but a short walk to the small lake. Was very soothing If you prefer softer beds be sure to bring a bed topper because beds were very hard

Lots of room for all of our family. One tv in the great room, sound echoes to upstairs bedrooms; so, no late-night movies after kids go to bed. All beds were good, different degrees of firmness. Ground floor master bedroom with ensuite full bath. Half bath next to laundry room on ground floor. The laundry room door helped keep sound and heat from the rest of the house when the machines were operational. The second floor had the two other bedrooms that shared a full bath. The lake is not really visible with full leaf cover of the summer. The kids did walk up/down the hill to explore the lake area. We went over to the bigger lake at the Natural Bridge park to fish and kayak. Lots of hiking in the area. Great week!

Perfect for 6 of us ages 8-76. Located about 10 mins from Gorge Underground and Skylift. Setting is peaceful and was able to do some fishing at Deer Water Lake. House was nicely equipped and had everything we needed to cook meals. Thank you for a great stay!

Very spacious

Plenty of space for 2 adults, 2 teens, and 2 kids. The backyard and hot tub was great as well. We were able to have a fire both nights and walk down to the dock and do a little fishing during the day.

This was perfect for our family of 6 with small pets (we asked permission for two small dogs which was agreed upon with additional pet fee which was very much appreciated).It was well stocked with everything we needed. Clean, quiet, saw deer every morning, hot tub was good…everything we were looking for. We even used the game closet in the limited downtime we had. The pond was beautiful and the kids caught some fish, though it was a downhill walk. However most of the other cabins (which you cannot see), had the same situation so it wasn’t a big deal at all. Communication was great, very responsive. The only things I could say to improve was having to get a physical key from a location before going to the cabin. It wasn’t too far and it wasn’t the worst thing but it’s an extra stop and something to keep track of, though everything went smooth. The dock to the pond was in poor shape, especially compared to the others on the pond. Both very minor. We are looking to book again this fall and the whole family agreed we didn’t need to look anywhere else. For reference, we are a family of 6: 2 adults, kids 17, 15, 10, 6. We like nice, clean places.

4 night stay

Easy access and located right near zipline and undergroud kayak. Very firm Mattresses so if you like soft, I would recommend taking matress pads. Trail to water access is a hill but easily seen and doable. Too hot to use hot tub but looked and smelled clean. We would definitely stay again

Cute Cottage

The cottage was just like the photos and a very nice location. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The only thing that we found that could have been better was the blackened cobwebs that covered the ceiling fan blades needed to be cleaned. When traveling back to the area we would rent again.

Thanksgiving Second Year

Great 4-night Thanksgiving getaway with our adult kids & their partners. Perfect for 6-8 people, comfortable living space, great hot tub, and fire ring out back. Near multiple trails and Natural Bridge hike. Short 2-hour drive from Cincinnati. We will be back.

Beautiful area, needs new mattresses

The cabin was very cute and felt like home, however the beds were not comfortable, at all; and I don’t think I could’ve slept in them for an extended stay, but for the weekend it was manageable. The walk back to the house from the lake was straight up and hard for me to get up and down, and I am young and in good shape: not anyone could have made that walk. The area however is beautiful and close to the state park. I would stay again:

Book it!

The property was great and has everything you will need. It is in a great location in the middle of all the place's you will want to hike and eat. Mike and Leslie are absolutely outstanding! They really do answer the phone after hour's and are quick to resolve any issue's. If you are wondering if there is anything to do at the Gorge in the winter the answer is YES! I would highly recommend this property.

Family trip

The stay was good. Price does seem a little high for what it was. Does need a little updating. It does make it seem like the lake is right out the back door but its not. You have to go down the hill. Leslie and Mike were amazing. They are what made the whole trip. Definitely will be going back.

Bad and Good

Property is as listed. TV would not connect to WiFi so no football Thanksgiving day or Christmas shows for grandkids. Hot tub blew its breaker first night and heat was up and down from 95 to 85. Location is great. Floor plan was good for 3 couples and 2 toddlers.

Lacking

We enjoyed our visit to the Red River Gorge area. The location was adequate. The cabin had a decent setup but was lacking on cleanliness. If I could have looked at it before staying I would have kept looking for a different place. The beds were all noisy and uncomfortable.

Hidden gem of the gorge

A group of friends gathered for a weekend getaway. It's so rare to find a body of water in the Gorge let alone a property w/a private dock! It was the perfect place to head to natural bridge for an afternoon of hiking and head back and hop in the lake to cool off and relax for a while before making dinner. We brought our Kayaks but didn't really use them as the lake was very small and didn't need that much adventure. More of a floating and fishing lake. There were 5 of us in the house and it was a great amount of space- not too crowded and not too much space that we were still able to spend time together comfortably and easily. Nice back porch for morning coffee and the large hot tub was definitely utilized!

Secluded, great location

If your looking for quiet and secluded this is it. However, the overall cleanliness wasn't so good. We were afraid to turn the ceiling fans on because they were covered with dust. This place has 3 bedrooms, spacious BUT every mattress and box springs need to be replaced. We tried every bed and they were horrible. After 2 nights of no sleep or rest we left early. I contacted the management and told them why we were leaving early and they said they would contact the owners. The owners never reimbursed us nor did they contact us....highly disappointed.

Overpriced and Underkept

No email about check-in. We had to reach out to property owner and she said we should have received an email from a third party. No directions about where to check-in. We got a wife password but no directions about what network to use. We had to call the main office for clarification. No directions on how to start the jacuzzi. There was no power to the jacuzzi. We had to call the main office for directions on the jacuzzi. Lots of spider webs in the house. Also greeted by a wasp upstairs. The ceiling fans were caked with dust--a disgusting sight to behold. No hand towel in the main floor bathroom. Couches were old and uncomfortable. Master bedroom had no TV and no night stands on either side. Pillow case in master bedroom was soiled. No draped in the bedrooms so forget about sleeping in. Great location but place needs a ton of upkeep and the housekeeper should be fired.

It is unfortunate that the directions for check in did not get relayed to you. VRBO is the 3rd party and they do not make it plain you are renting from another company. We have passed your comments to the owner. We hope you enjoyed our beautiful area during your visit.

Great spot

Overall stay was great. The space is very nice for 3 people and we had plenty of room. Note, the check-in is not near the cabin which is on the way if you're coming from Lexington. We had an extended stay (for over a week) and they told us we could drive back down to get more dishwasher packets. I think an improvement would be to provide more packets for extended stays. In addition, you have to drive your garbage back down to the check in spot which is not close. Since I am paying a cleaning fee, I was not thrilled with this policy. We did have a problem with the heat not working and while they responded to the situation right away, they did not keep us updated. I had to reach out each day to find out the status of the furnace. I completely understand that it breaking on a Saturday, would not have service until Monday. They did provide us space heaters to help. Those kept the place warm but were hard to manage as it was often too hot in our rooms. Please note that they really need to change the hot tub cover which we communicated with them. We are hot tub owners and felt it was a safety hazard. It is old, very heavy and because the tub is such a tight fit you have to try and lift the entire thing one way onto the deck. We are climbers and in shape and we struggled. I imagine someone who is not in shape could have problems with it. Getting it back on is even harder. Overall, we loved the location and would stay again.
