Place was as it has been in the past - great. Only negative this time was the door code not working and having to text call while standing in the cold upon arrival. Other than that, no issues.

Beautiful view, but rough stay

This was our second time staying at this condo (two different units). We enjoyed it so much last year, we came back. We wonā€™t be back again. We got to the condo and the lock wouldnā€™t work. The code was correct, but the deadbolt wouldnā€™t pull out. After being on the phone with 4 different people for over an hour, someone finally showed up.

When we arrived at the condo, after traveling all day. Went in and there was NO AC. We then were moved to a different location for the night, which was fine. Iā€™ve been coming here all my life and never experienced this inconvenience before. Other than that when we got settled it was paradise of course. Check in was at 4:00pm when we arrived at 4:30 the unit was still being cleaned and the keypad code did not work. The unit had dust buildup in ceiling fan and trim. The handle for the balcony door was falling off. The unit was out dated and could use a deep cleaning.

Disappointing

The location of this property is wonderful; it is private and steps from the beach. Unfortunately, the property itself was dirty and the advertising photos left out the stained carpet, wallpaper and kitchen cabinets, all of which desperately need to be replaced. We arrived late at night and the door code would not work. The property management was accessible and did rectify that within about fifteen minutes. After a day traveling it was frustrating to find a moldy shower curtain, large stain on the bedroom carpet, dust and hair covering the bedside tables and other furniture, broken drawer and sticky cabinets. There are no cleaning productson site so be sure to bring your own!

Great Location

This condo is ONLY a few steps to the beach! Excellent location from the beach and very close to Stewby"s Seafood which I highly recommend. The unit is a little outdated and could use a deep cleaning but you forget about all that when you see the view and the location.

Clean, dated, excellent location

This property was everything we needed/wanted! Right on the beach, with a gorgeous view of the gulf through the window and from the balcony. Tho spotlessly clean, my only complaint is that the building, furniture, and decor could use some TLC. I would still pick this place to stay again! Much quieter and laid back than in the hub of Destin.

Nice Condo on the Beach - Rental Management not so great

We love staying at Vista de Mar and this particular unit has a great location. 3rd floor, beautiful view of the water, and easy access to the beach. You are just 20 feet from the dunes and 100 yards from the water. Kitchen is well equipped and they have a Keurig and drip coffee maker. While we loved this unit, we will not be staying here again unless there is a change in property management. We will never rent this unit while it is being managed by Southern Vacation Rentalsā€¦.During our stay, we were enjoying the beach on our first sunny/hood weather afternoon. We received a text that a sofa was going to be delivered between 3:00 and 3:30. I thought it was a spam text. My husband told me to just check the unit just in case. The text came through at 3:02. In the time it took me to get up from my beach chair and walk to the unit (less than 5 minutes) there was someone already in our unit roaming around. Needless to say, I was not happy and the property management member said they would reschedule the delivery for another day. Why would you schedule a sofa delivery while you have a guest in a unit? Also, why not give more notice than 5 minutes? I was upset by the intrusion, but I can only imagine if I hadnā€™t checked on the unit and we returned from the beach to a new sofa. The unit was well stocked but very dusty. Lots of artificial plants that are coated in years of dust. Not the cleanest place weā€™ve stayed, not the dirtiest either. In all honesty, If it hadnā€™t been for the intrusion of the rental employee roaming our unit, it would have been a good trip. Now, we will NEVER rent from Southern Vacation Rentals. They donā€™t provide safety and security for their guests and need to improve their standards when cleaning. Clean not only high touch areas, but perform a deep clean each month or so.

Serviceable, comfortable, right on the beach

This property had all that was needed for our short beach retreat. We appreciated the great view, the large kitchen, the balcony views, plenty of towels, beach umbrella and chairs, and great A/C. There were a few minor fixes needed to blinds, closet doors and the furnishings were a bit dated, but the price was worth it. Would stay there again.

Nice Stay

Property is in a nice location toward the end of the strip of condos so there was little beach traffic. Complimentary beach service provided and it was easy to get 2 chairs + umbrella even during spring break. 3rd floor balcony had a great view of the beach and was roomy with comfortable chairs and a small table. Condo was clean and good assortment of pots, dishes, utensils, etc. Cable tv provided but not used much. Permit parking lot. Overall great experience and recommend if you are looking for something clean and quiet.

Short stay

I did not realize before I booked this location that check out time was at 9am but it worked for all of us because we planned to get up early for breakfast and anyways so we just made sure everything was with us once we left for breakfast. I loved the location. I loved that it was right on the water the covered porch was perfect to sit at and watch the waves. Glad the chairs out there are tall to see over the rails. Check out the restaurant The Gulf it was a great time and beautiful weather during the spring break weekend.

Quiet small complex

Loved the location and that there are only 9 condos. Very peaceful! Things to know: There isn't an elevator which at first I thought may be a problem. But there aren't many steps between floors, so no problems there. The unit does not have a washer/dryer. However, there is a washer/dryer just outside ($2.00 per load each). Down side: the balcony chairs/pads/table are sticky and black from dirt. Chairpads are worn out flat and dirty. Pillows in living room dirty as well. My mistakes: I DID NOT GET THE INSURANCE! I had to leave a day early due to hurricane Sally's threat to my home. So, I had to pay for a day I wasn't there.
