This four-bedroom upstairs unit is part of a duplex, but the downstairs is used only for owner storage and is not occupied during guest stays, so you'll have full privacy throughout your visit. With a private backyard pool, refreshed interior, and beach access just across the street, it’s an ideal home base for families and groups who enjoy being outdoors.

Beautiful house and property with a very nice backyard for our dog!! Loved how it was only steps away from the beach and about 20 minutes to Charleston! Would definitely stay here again.

The Sassy Shack was everything we wanted and needed for a relaxing and healing holiday week. The location is great, and we loved being only steps from the beach. We spent the majority of our time at the house on the porch and deck. The beds are very comfortable, and the house is decorated with a lot of love. The walk to good food and coffee made our vacation all the more enjoyable. We hope to stay again in the future.

Charming and relaxing retreat

The Sassy Shack was a great place for our group to relax and enjoy Folly Beach. The pool was clean and well-maintained with comfortable seating. The beach was a very short distance away. We also enjoyed the fun artwork on display.

We love you Sassy Shack!!

My girls and I had such a fabulous weekend at Sassy! It was such a close walk to the beach and the pool was so pretty and relaxing. The backyard felt super private and the screened in porch was a dream. 10/10 recommend, would love to come stay again!!

Well appointed, airy and cozy beach rental

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Sassy Shack this spring. The house was amazing - cozy and decorated with a cool beach vibe. The pool was the biggest attraction for my kids; mine was the screened in porch and walks on the beach! This was our first trip to Folly Beach and Sassy Shack but it won’t be our last!

Excellent location and accommodations

We had an amazing time staying at The Sassy Shack and hope to come back someday! The pool was perfect and the location can’t be beat. So many great artistic features of the furnishings, also made it so special. It has just about everything you need to make great food and drinks. Plenty of towels were provided and it was very clean and organized. Hope very much to return!

Good Folly stay

Overall a nice property in an excellent location - very short walk to the beach. The newer pool is well maintained and wonderful for kids. The house is on the older side, with doors that don’t always latch and bathrooms/kitchen that could use a little TLC. But found it met our family’s needs and budget and would potentially stay again.

Sassy shack

Great location. House is very basic but mattresses were good. Kitchen is mostly one of a kind so if you have favorite knife or tools pack them. Lots of bugs inside. A bit too cool for pool but very pretty.

Sassy Shack it is!

What's not to like...great screened in porch, right across the street to beach, pool to dip, outside shower, walk to town, plenty of sleeping space. never turned on tv. Played games on living room table. used outside grill for fresh fish.

Folly near the water

Great location right near beach. Beautiful views and the inground pool is spectacular. Interior of house is very dated and has not been updated much. Many of the rooms doors do not latch and the furniture is quite old. Some fixtures are likely original to the house. Exterior of house is not impressive. Beautiful front porch with views to ocean. If you are looking to rent rustic near the beach with a nice pool and lot, this is your place.

Bait and switch

The rental company changed property without notification. Only reason I noticed is because I actually read the rental contact. Unit provided - cockroaches, condom wrapper, no pool access (even after rental company confirmed it was ready for use prior to arrival). On a more positive note - the unit we had was decorated well, perfect location, and beds comfy.

This house has a lot of potential, but I would not recommend anyone staying here until a mold remediation has been performed. The most serious issue is that we believe there is a mold problem that goes beyond simply an older house smelling musty. Nearly everyone in our family ended up with a health issue, from a full sinus shutdown to sore throats and headaches to just feeling crummy when actively inside the home. A more minor issue is that one of the bathrooms has a shower that won’t drain, so you are standing in 6 inches of water while showering. The pool is actually very nice, but I think the owners should have the air quality tested before allowing anyone else to stay here.

Great Location

Overall stay was good. Management company contacted me a few days before arrival informing me that the homeowner would be in town for a conference and would be staying in the ground level unit. This caught me off guard a bit - informing rather than asking, especially since I was looking for a rental where we had the entire property. In the end it was fine because the homeowner was only there for 2 days (one night). As far as the property and amenities, I have the following comments: -Pool lounge chairs were in bad shape - wood slats broken and overall frail feeling -toilet paper and paper towels was very limited for the duration of our stay -shower curtain was stained and quite gross -location to beach and restaurants was incredible (easy walk to everything) -screened in porch in front of house was great to escape the mosquitos yet still have fresh air

Thank you for your review! Although it is extremely rare, the homeowner needed one additional night in town during this guest's stay and occupied the lower level of the home for the night (this portion of the house is accessed by its own private entrance and not advertised as a part of the 4 bedroom vacation rental or accessible from the vacation rental- it typically remains vacant). We were able to provide an extended check out time on the guests departure day in exchange for the accommodation. We've also since replaced the shower liners and will be reviewing the condition of the pool furniture ASAP.

Great location, listing not entirely accurate

This home is located in an excellent location a short walk from the beach. It is newly painted and the decor is super cute. We loved our time out on the screened in porch! The management company were very responsive and check-in/out was easy. However, there were a few concerns with the property especially given the high price tag. A major one is that the listing states that the home is 6 bedrooms, but does not mention that the 2 bedrooms downstairs are an entirely separate unit. You need to exit the main house to access the lower unit downstairs. This is something that should be pointed out as we had thought we could put some of the kids into one of those rooms, but they were too young to put into an entirely separate space. It might be ok for teenagers or for 2 families who want to be separated. Also, the downstairs unit had older window a/c units, and one of them was so loud and rickety it would be very difficult to sleep next to. I was traveling with my sister and brother in-law and they both felt uncomfortable sleeping downstairs as they felt it smelt musty from pervious water damage. I wouldn't have minded as much had the price not been as high. I was expecting much more for the amount that we paid. That being said, the rental company said that they would be contacting me to discuss some sort of compensation as they recognized our concerns. Unfortunately it has been a month and I have yet to hear from them.

We appreciate the feedback. Yes, the homeowner spent a lot of time and energy into revamping this classic beach house. The guest checked in and reported radiation from the modem and mold in the ground floor ceiling. We toured the first floor and found a small brown stain on the ceiling. There are no indications of mold. Also, the property was purchased this year and went through a thorough real estate inspection. No reports of mold. As far as the modem we did unplug this device to help guest concerns about radiation. All in all we hate to hear the complaints and hope all of our upcoming guests enjoy everything the Sassy Shack has to offer.

This beach home was perfect for our family vacay! We enjoyed the huge porch, pool and close access to the beach. Definitely an original Folly Beach adventure! We absolutely loved it,Although it was smaller than expected it was perfect for our family. We would hope to come back soon!

We stayed here for our wedding weekend and had a great experience! The property is beautiful, the pool was wonderful, and the beach access couldn't be beat. It was the perfect home base for our bridal party to get ready and celebrate such a special weekend.A few minor things: there weren't any closets for hanging clothes, the house was stocked with very little toilet paper considering the size of the property and length of stay, and we would have loved a few full-length mirrors—especially with a large group getting ready. The backyard lighting was also a bit confusing to figure out.That said, these were small inconveniences compared to everything the property had to offer. Overall, we loved our stay, made incredible memories, and would absolutely recommend it to others.

Our stay at the Sassy shack

We loved our vacation at the sassy shack. Charming old cottage right across from the beach. We loved the old feel of the cottage with updated furnishings. Screened in front porch was our favorite spot besides being poolside. Awesome fenced in yard with beautiful pool. With the additional basement space there is plenty of room. Basement space is not connected to main level space so we could not put our small children there but for older kids and teenagers it would be a perfect space for them. Kitchen has everything you need but it is a very small alley kitchen so if you plan to cook a lot or have multiple people helping with cooking it can get crowded quickly.
