LOCATION: The Peninsula at Inlet Point South with equally majestic oceanfront and marsh front views. A gated community with creek docks a community pool and a private beach. NO PETS ALLOW

DETAILS: Oceanfront home with ocean and marsh views! This home has a warm inviting family/game room on the 1st floor with entertainment center wet bar mini refrigerator and 4 bedrooms. All bedrooms have private baths. A wall of windows featuring views of the beach on main floor. The top level features the master suite with sitting area overlooking the ocean and large master bathroom. Ocean front covered porches located on the 1st and main levels. The main level also has an open deck facing the ocean. TVs are located in the living room family room and all bedrooms but the bunk bedroom. Other amenities include wet bar in living room WiFi ceiling fans throughout elevator usage (with permission) grill and under cover parking. Community pool available.

Guest reservations of 3 to 21 nights receive a valuable credit to use towards beach gear rentals during your stay! The credit amount for this property is $50 a day. Higher Porpoise

Higher Porpoise is a fabulous example of how a beach house should be designed. It maximizes the ocean front experience and at the same time accommodates a large number of people very comfortably.

Excellent stay at Higher Porpoise

This was the second time we have stayed at Higher Porpoise, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The design easily accommodated our party of 14, and is very spacious and open. We particularly love the top floor master bedroom with its panoramic view of the entire beach. The kitchen is well equipped and very functional, and the second floor dining area is great for a large gathering. The elevator is a godsend for those of us who may need it. Litchfield Beach is wonderful, with easy access to shopping and services (2 miles from the house to a grocery store). We hope to stay here again sometime in the future.

Wonderful beach house

Greater Porpoise was an excellent beach house for our large family vacation. It was spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable. The beach, pool, fishing dock, and biking were convenient for everyone. We had a wonderful stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Higher Porpoise! What a wonderfully spacious house and we loved the beachside balcony with comfy furniture. The kitchen was very well equipped! Our only disappointment is it's not being available to us next year. Hope to stay at Litchfield a lot in the future!

Great beachfront home

We enjoyed a great week in this home - loved being right on the beach. Tons of space and good layout. Kitchen was well-stocked. Pictures are very accurate. The carpet in the upper-level MBR was a little musty smelling - noticeable but not too bad. Everything else was very clean and well-maintained.

Lovely home and setting, well-stocked with kitchen cooking gear, but I couldn't find a dust pan😊 Linens provided were very convenient, and we loved the striped beach towels. Outdoor porch furniture was wonderful. Some clean-up of miscellaneous gear under the house is in order— looks fairly junky there.

Peace Realty very responsive, once you get them. Higher Porpose needs work

Refrigerator not working on arrival. Peace very responsive to try to repair…not possible. They brought sacks of ice so it functioned as an “ ice box, cooler”. Inconvenient but workable. Railings on steps on beachside were broken last year, still not repaired. BOTH ice makers “ not accessible to guest”. .. inconvenient and certainly not guest friendly. Doors to outside from main sitting area…signs indicating they are broken so DO NOT USE. Somewhat inconvenient but certainly not guest friendly. Windows facing beach were filthy. Peace got them cleaned One of sofa- chairs on porch broken. Handrails down to beach broken. Steps to beach covered 6-8 inches deep in sand. Boardwalk from house to beach, boards loose, warped…needing repair. Nice house. Peace Rentals was responsive to us but needs proactive repairs and cleaning. Peace's telephone response time needs some work. During the week I needed to call them a number of times but almost never got them without waiting or making multiple calls.

Wonderful beach house

Greater Porpoise was an excellent beach house for our large family vacation. It was spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable. The beach, pool, fishing dock, and biking were convenient for everyone. We had a wonderful stay!

Beautiful home

This home is beautiful and has a great layout. The top floor windowed gazebo area was such a nice addition for reading, musing and watching the sunrise. There was an area that goes behind the kitchen where there is a pantry, extra cabinets and drawers and the washer and dryer. Because it was out of the way we could put a lot of extras back there that we would need during the week but have it be out of the way. The furniture and beds were very comfortable and the dining room table was big enough to handle us all. Our favorite area had to be the outside deck on the third floor with all of the comfortable furniture. It was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy family time. The beach is close to the house so it was no problem going back and forth with the little ones. There were a few things that should be addressed though. First, five doors could not be locked. I called the property managers and they sent over maintenance. They oiled the locks and showed me that you had to lift the handle as high as you could until it stopped, then you had to lift higher. Only then would the lock catch. That should have been made clear in the Welcome book. Even then, one lock was clearly broken - it just spun around - and even after they left we still couldn't turn the locks on two other doors. So out of the five doors that were looked at, in the end only two were working when we left. Also, the elevator. There is no code needed to use the elevator so literally anyone could come off the street and take the elevator to any of the floors in the house. The property managers say some people leave a gate open so the elevator can't work, but that is not really feasible if you have multiple families living on multiple floors going in and out at various times. It also doesn't address what happens when we went to the beach for the day and needed the elevator to get everyone back upstairs or when we left the house on Saturday and used the elevator to lug all our stuff to the garage and then drove away. There should be some way that that could be corrected. We were new to Pawley's island and I was looking forward to looking at the Welcome book for ideas of what to do in the area or of nearby restaurants. There is nothing in the book that is helpful. It does give the Wi-Fi password and tells you, oddly, not to strip the sheets off your bed but doesn't tell you what to do with the used towels. There is no mention of when the trash pickup days are. Our son went on a bike ride and said he saw a sign that said it was Tuesday/Friday but then a few days later I saw another sign that said it was Tuesday/Saturday. We asked the guard at the station and he said it was Tuesday/Saturday, so we went with that, but that is info that should have been clearly available. There are two garbage bins but not one that said recycle on it so even though there were separate garbage cans in the kitchen, we separated the recyclables but ended up putting them into both bins outside. It was not clear if they were going to be picked up by different trucks. One more thing - it would be very helpful if the owners labeled what all the light switches go to. We spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find out how to turn on and off the lights. There were also a few things that were broken when we got there - the trim for one- on one of the dishwashers in the kitchen, which we did tell the property manager about but was never fixed. And it might be beneficial to go through the kitchen drawers and cull down a bit. There were so many utensils that it was actually hard to find what you needed, and the one thing we needed - just a plain old can opener with the point to poke the holes in a can - we couldn't find. Having said all that, I know I sound like I am complaining but I'm not. This house is truly lovely and we hope to come back someday. These were just a few things that I feel the owners just overlooked.

A Week Together with Family

Peace Vacations was very easy to work with and the new owners have really jumped in with major upgrades and are continuing that plan. Looking forward to future vacations in this house.

Loved the house and location. Appreciated Peace Vacations Staff's assistance and prompt communication. Disappointed that there were quite a few items that need repair, etc; toilet broken, icemakers not working, lights over dining area not working; however staff explained new owners were waiting for home to be vacant for repairs.

A Wonderful Oceanfront Home

Our stay at Higher Porpoise was a wonderful experience! It is an enormous home that very comfortably accommodated our families of 6 adults and 7 children. The kitchen was very spacious and well-equipped, and the interior spaces were generous and comfortable. The elevator was especially appreciated by the senior members of the family, who stayed in the top floor master bedroom and enjoyed its fabulous panoramic view of the beach and ocean. The community pool was very nice and was conveniently located a few hundred feet away. It was nice being inside a gated community; very peaceful and quiet. There were a few minor glitches (ice maker not working, lights over dining table nonfunctional) and we would suggest upgrading deck furniture. These did not significantly detract from what was a wonderful and beautiful well-designed beach home. We hope to stay at Higher Porpoise again in future years.
