Lakefront Cottage

Come enjoy the quiet shores of Great Moose Lake. This is a waterfront cottage located on Northeast Cove. Enjoy all the beauty of the lake from a beautiful screened in porch or walk down the path to sit at the water's edge. Enjoy the call and sights of the Common Loon and a plethora of other wildlife. Three bedrooms with one full bathroom, sleeps up to six guests. Dock available to tie up your boat. Enjoy walking down to the lake to take a swim, or go boating, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. There is a canoe and two fishing kayaks available for your use as well as fishing rods. We also have life jackets available in several different sizes. Day drives to Bar Harbor, Portland, and Moosehead Lake.
Please be aware you will be responsible for bringing your own bed sheets, blankets, bath towels, and kitchen towels.

Peaceful, quiet, tranquil stay in the cabin. We loved the early morning light on the screened porch. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of seating inside, outside, and on the porch.

Our week at the cottage was peaceful and fun. All info on the website matched the reality, the entire process was smooth and easy. Patricia was very attentive, responded to any questions quickly. The cottage had all the amenities you could hope for and we especially enjoyed the screened in porch.

Lovely peace and quiet on the lake

We were looking for a quiet location on some water and we found it. The house has everything you need and the location with the forest and the lake was just what we had in mind. Host was very responsive and all was prepared very nicely. Wonderful stay!!

We had a wonderful relaxing week at ā€œGood Griefā€. The property had everything we need and was very clean. The house is right on a beautiful lake, great for kayaking or sitting on a tube.

Perfect family get away

Such a great cabin on a beautiful quiet, clean lake. We had such a wonderful time. The kids/teens were swimming and fishing and kayaking/canoeing the entire week. Nice to have good WiFi when we needed it. Cabin was perfect and clean and well stocked. Property was quiet and Lake was clean and deep and perfect too. This was just what our family needed ā€¦ We hope to plan another trip to this s cabin next year : )

Wonderful family time was had at this little oasis on the lake! Lots of laughter, games, and visiting on the spacious screened-in porch. The loons provide lovely evening serenades. Thank you, hope to see you again next year!

Quintessential Maine

I have such fond memories of staying "at camp" as a boy, and this cabin checked all those boxes. (except this cabin DOES have indoor plumbing) Check in was seamless, and Patricia responded to any questions immediately. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pair of loons swimming by the property! This IS camp living, so a little rustic. but everything we needed was there for us, and everything was comfortable and welcoming. I highly recommend this place, and Patricia.

Lakeside Paradise

We loved this house by the lake. We heard loons almost every night and some mornings. The house is just as described. The screened in porch was lovely and my husband enjoyed fishing off the dock. The lake is deep. I couldnā€™t stand at the end of the dock. Great swimming and boating. Only negative is the lack of activities nearby. Fine for us but my teenage girls would have enjoyed a couple of outings. A+

Homey Cabin

The cabin was cozy and well appointed with lots of cook-ware, including quality cast iron pans and the like, which we appreciated since we like to cook while on vacation. Nice walk to the lake which had surprisingly little boat traffic. Long dirt road to the cabin provided a good place to walk or jog in the morning. Great screened in porch with a porch swing and places to eat. We liked the instant hot water heater so we didn't need to wait to take showers back-to-back. Boats provided were awesome. Overall lived-in and homey old school cabin which we like. The neighbors houses are close enough to see and hear. Patricia was responsive and helpful. Check out Bryant's Brewing across the lake for coffee and beer and an egg sandwich (food only on weekend) on the weekend.

Amazing Place!

Beautiful, quiet place on Great Moose Lake, a paradise. A family home with a long history; you really feel like you are a guest in someoneā€™s home, and that that home is warm and welcoming. No issues at all with Wi-Fi or streaming platforms. Wonderful collection of vintage VHS tapes. Barely any extraneous noise at all. I recommend it without equivocation as a vacation place and retreat. Will definitely come back! Just one thing: GPS is wrong at one point. When you make a left on Pond Rd., it briefly turns into Chickadee and the numbers change. Keep going! It turns BACK into Pond Rd., and you will find the place if you go a bit further.

Beautiful sunrises on the lake!

Our family had a relaxing week stay at "Good Grief" We had decent fishing from the dock and the kayaks. We also took the kayaks out past the point in the evening and saw an amazing sunset. The one minor issue was I left messages for Patricia after the trash was not taken on the day it was supposed to be and did not get a response. I was surprised by this because she did call and check on us the first day we were there.

Great anniversary getaway

We booked this rental for our 3rd anniversary trip. We wanted to experience Maine cuisine but not be in the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. Our stay was great and we loved admiring the decor in the place! Kayaks and canoe made for a great day on the beautiful lake, and the view couldn't be beat. Hopefully we can stay again some day! It is worth noting, GPS may not take you directly to the cabin. If it says you have arrived and you haven't, keep going. The cabin is a long commute down the dirt road (3-4miles? I cannot recall), but it is worth it!

Perfect place to Relax & Enjoy nature

What an adorable cabin in Northern Maine on a pristine lake! Our time here was to celebrate our wedding. The cabin is very neat & clean with many seats to enjoy the peaceful environment inside & out. Also has a well equipped kitchen for those who love to cook. Thank you for this wonderful 5 days ;-)
