Gorgeous property in beautiful location for visiting Connemara and beyond.Well appointed, clean house with everything available for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Lovely stylish decor and lots of space to sit; to the front you can watch the sun set over the waters and at the back there are mountain and lake views.A short stroll to the most perfect beach - lovely sands, rock pools for the children to explore and rocks to clamber on plus the crystal clear waters if you fancy a dip! At low tide you can explore an island across from the beach.Handy for nearby Roundstone and Clifden plus the Alcock & Brown landing site, the underrated Pine Island Viewpoint, Kylemore Abbey and Galway City! An absolutely hidden gem and tranquil retreat. Thank you so much for a truly wonderful holiday. We even got to see the solar eclipse during our stay!

Stayed at the Old Calla School for a week at beginning of July. The house was spacious, comfortable and clean with a well equipped large kitchen. The beds were also very comfortable. Great views from all rooms and house very quiet and relaxing to stay in. Local shop and pub / restaurant and cafe (both excellent food) 5 min drive. Clifden town is about 20 mins drive and very pleasant. Lots of shops, cafes and good supermarkets. Roundstone (small village) about 15 min drive from house also well worth a visit and has a very pretty harbour. Fantastic beaches nearby house (Gurteen, Dogs Bay, Coral beach) - 10 mins drive. Local beach 10 min walk from house, with huge tidal range and great to walk around when tide out. Met locals hand raking for cockles which looked fabulous. Roads very bendy and slow, but traffic was reasonably light. No TV which at first was a bit disconcerting, however had a really relaxing week and didn’t miss it at all.

Beautiful Location!

Views are fantastic. The house is comfortable and neat as a pin. Located across from ocean, but access is down the road. Lake view behind the house is serene, but also have to drive for access. Market and pub a short drive away. Great leaping off point for Connemara activities.

Amazing!

We had such a lovely stay at Calla School, the house was so clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need. We fell in love with this house and Connemara. We have never felt so comfortable in a house rental, it felt like our home away from home. Thank you so much Gabrielle for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Paradise

We loved our stay in Callow which is the best location in Connemara. The information provided by the hosts was great and helped us plan our walks and activities every day. The local beach is beautiful and quiet and great for a swim. At low tide you can walk to the island and explore which the kids loved. The mountain & sea views from every part of the house are spectacular and there are nice seating areas dotted all over the gardens to enjoy.

Magic venue

The property was all I expected and much more. The views were wonderful on every side of the house, and thoughtful seating areas abound outside. Details about the house and it’s environs are carefully put together by the Owners and the magic beach just a ten minute walk away was one of my favorite spots in the area. I loved being there.

The Best

This was just a marvelous place to stay. The house was a great location and equipped with you need. All the information we received was spot on accurate. We had great Irish weather - sunny some days, windy and rainy others. The School House was like a safe harbor. Plenty to do in the area - hiking, shopping, great food at local restaurants, convenient grocery shopping. Thanks to the owners. A great memory.

Family holiday in Connemara

Great house and location for our family of four (2 teenage boys). The house is gorgeous, best rental we've ever stayed in. It has everything you'll need and is very comfortable. Beautiful beaches all along the nearby coastline. We swam every day, mostly at Calla beach, only 10 minute walk away. Our boys enjoyed using the bicycles to cycle to the shop in nearby Ballyconneely. Highly recommend Keoghs bar/restaurant in Ballyconneely where you will find great food, welcoming staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We fell in love with Connemara and will definitely be back xx ❤️

Wonderful time in Calla School house

From the moment we stepped into the property we fell in love. Impeccably clean, spacious and views out every window. Love all the decorations that the owners have placed around the house. Everything you need or can think of is in the house it all ran very smoothly! The location beside the beach was just wonderful, our children had so much fun exploring the island and swimming in the Crystal clear sea. Look forward to coming back again! Thank you!

A home away from home

We have been to the old school house before in summer with the family and tried but failed a few other times to book it but missed out. This was our first winter visit. We will be back again.. this is less the formula holiday home that can be rented anywhere, and so mischievous more this is a home for holidays! There is a warmth and generosity to the place that relaxes and comforts you and all that in the most wonderful Connemara. The CD collection is all worth a listen! I will be booking my trip for next winter this week!

Comfortable and characterful

Sunrises over a lake, sunsets over the sea, dark quiet nights. Comfortable beds, good heating, well-equipped kitchen (the dishwasher was replaced during our stay). Lovely calm decor, seashore finds everywhere around the place, conservatory and secluded garden out back One quirk to be aware of is that the TV is internet only, no terrestrial or satellite. If you have apps on your phone you can 'mirror' to it, which is what we did; it's not hard to set up, just be prepared. And the plumbing is no flushing of paper, so pretend you're on a holiday in the Mediterranean countries where that is standard, the weather might even oblige! We had some gorgeous days even at the end of September. Communication was great throughout.

Wonderful stay

We had a great time staying at the Calla School House. It's a very comfortable and spacious home away from home. The views are fantastic; both during the day and during the evening. We were able to relax properly and that is what a holiday is about for us. We walked to Calla beach and visited quite a few other local beaches, rock pooling and we did some great walks. We would love to visit again sometime in the summer; although the weather was actually very good. It did rain, but mostly in the evenings and during the nights. A couple of showers but lots of sunshine as well. Unfortunately, our son left his phone at the house when we left.. However, Gabriele and Klaudia were so good about this. They directly offered to send it back to our home in England. Their communication was excellent throughout. I can recommend Calla School House wholeheartedly!

Hier lebt man sozusagen zeitlos.
