Enjoy a peaceful lakefront retreat on Deer Lake, “The Lake of Changing Colors”, one of the clearest blue water lakes in the United States and a unique northern Minnesota treasure. Deer Lake is an inviting year-round vacation destination. The beauty is unparalleled in all seasons of the year. With high speed Wi-Fi internet service, Deer Lake Chalet is also a perfect work from home vacation getaway. Deer Lake Chalet sleeps 11 with 2 bedrooms, additional loft bedroom, living room futon, family room sectional sleeper. That number increases to 14 when the bunk house (air conditioned) is open (May 15th- Oct 1) The bunk house is available to paid groups of 12 or more or 525.00 a week (Summer season or 75.00 per night (Fall, Spring) for smaller groups.. Spend your days boating, fishing, and swimming with a private dock, beach and convenient lake access, then fire up the grill each night for dinner in towering pines overlooking Deer Lake. For a change of scenery, explore the thousands of acres of Chippewa National Forest, nearby hiking, snowmobiling, Nordic skiing and snow shoeing. With a fireplace, sauna, loft, and fire pit this Northern Minnesota chalet will quickly become your year-round home-away-from-home! (Summer check in/out day - Friday)

BR 1 - Twin Over Full, BR 2 - Twin Over Full, Loft - King, Living Room - Queen Futon, Family Room - Queen Sectional Sleeper, Bunk House - Twin Over Full, 1/2 bath, shower in adjacent sauna.

The sloping path to the beach is about 150 feet and may be too strenuous for those in poor health, disabled, or are elderly. Just added (5/15/2025) new beautiful timber steps from the deck to the lake that provides an alternate easy access to the lake.

Summer tradition

Our group of 13 ranging from age 46-6 enjoy coming to this property. The lake is clear and beautiful; we enjoyed tubing, walleye fishing, paddle boarding, swimming, paddle boating, and kayaking. The property is nice with space for the kids to run and play when they arent at the lake. The home had everything we needed. The fire table was a nice addition for late evening relaxation. The owners are attentive, accommodating and understanding. The kids/teens are already talking about coming again. Thank you for sharing your home!

Bachelorette Weekend

This lake house was perfect for a relaxing bachelorette weekend with friends! We used the paddle boards and kayaks on the lake, hung out on the deck, and hiked nearby! Very communicative hosts and picturesque setting!

Cozy winter retreat

Nice spot to lodge with a group in winter. We were at a conference most of the days and didn’t spend a lot of time on the property, but it served our needs great. The only challenge was getting up the hill outside with a couple vehicles since it was icy, but everyone made it eventually. Host was communicable and friendly and helpful.

Great Fall Getaway!

Beautiful views and quiet neighborhood. Sauna was amazing! Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen/bathroom had everything we needed and I appreciated the dishwasher. The walk back up from the lake is not for the faint of heart-great workout. Backing up the inclined driveway with our ATV trailer was a bit tricky, there is room for 1 trailer and 2 vehicles at the top. Close to an ATV trail. Thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!

Beautiful property!

Our family of 14, from 73 to 6 had a delightful time at this beautiful chalet.Grandpa and Grandma had a bit of a challenge walking from the cabin to the beach and docks. But, taking it slow and easy, we were able to make it. We would have appreciated a 2nd bathroom in the chalet. However there was a second in the bunk house. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the beach, swimming and tubing. Thanks to Jon and Carolyn for sharing this lovely property with us!

Winter Weekend

The house fit our every need. Check in process was seamless. Rooms were decently sized and decorated nicely. WiFi was strong and consistent. It was quiet on the lake and at night it felt like there wasn’t another soul around for miles. We can’t wait to return!

Great location. Accommodations smaller than expected.

We enjoyed this area very much. Unfortunately when we arrived at the property I had to spend the first moments of our vacation vacuuming the entire house, including the couches and wiping down surfaces because there were so many dead ladybugs all over. We appreciated getting a heads up from the owners that there was an increased number of ladybugs outside, however, we were surprised no one checked the inside of the house to vacuum the many bugs before we checked in. This home comfortably fit our family of 6, but I would not recommend it for more people than that even though the listing says it can accommodate more.

Fun fall getaway

Stayed here with friends for an annual fishing trip. The Chalet was great! Wonderful accommodations and the listing matched up exactly with expectations. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Beautiful property on a beautiful lake!

I can't say enough nice things about the property! The house was clean and well appointed. The fire pit and yard were great for evenings. The dining room table easily fit our 9 people (4 adults and 5 children). We spent all of our time on this beautiful lake. Fishing was spectacular off the dock and out of our boat. There was a small sandy beach with a shallow portion for the kids. There is a quick drop off but we found this quite nice as it allowed us to do some great swimming and jump off the dock. The kids really enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks. We brought our boat and kept it at the dock. There's power right off the dock so we were able to plug in the batteries with an extension cord. The public boat ramp is right down the road from the house and a very short boat trip to the house. The lake itself is a beautiful teal color and very clean. Jon was great to work with and very responsive. The hill up and down from the lake is a steep one but is clearly stated in the description and we did not have any issues (great leg work out). We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Cozy Winter Getaway

What a wonderful escape for a winter weekend! The snowy view of the lake was beautiful, and we definitely enjoyed the warmth of the wood stove on a cold winter day. Jon was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Awesome stay and great hosts...maybe we will have to return for a future summer trip.

This home is everything it states and more. The setting is pristine, as well as the home itself. Everything you need is provided, along with a basket of goodies welcoming you as you walk into the door. The hosts do a fantastic job, which we really appreciate. Simply beautiful inside and out!

Fall stay

Stayed mid October, beautiful time to use cabin. The king in loft with foam top mattress knocked me out, everything we needed in well appointed kitchen, great views. Played cribbage in t-shirts on deck, evening used free Hulu, Netflix, would recommend and do again.

Peaceful Hideaway

This property is all that we hoped for and more. The home is nestled into a hill along the edge of a beautiful, clear lake. The furnishings are so comfortable, you feel right at home. The kitchen is well supplied, plenty of towels in the bathroom, games, books, & a beautiful welcome gift waiting when we arrived. We enjoyed the sauna, paddle boat & beautiful drives in the color studded forests that surround the home. The owners were also very attentive to any questions and quick to respond when we reached out to them. We would highly recommend this property.

I couldn't imagine that a sometimes almost Caribbean blue water lake existed in Minnesota. (Deer Lake is called the Lake of Changing Colors) So, forty plus years later we were thrilled to be able to purchase Deer Lake Chalet. Now we are offering you an opportunity to stay at a place so beautiful that we think it will take your breath away in every season of the year. (Our favorite season at Deer Lake Chalet is whatever season we are in. ) Our on going mission is to provide you with an unforgettable and exceptionable experience at Deer Lake.
