The facility was unsafe and unsanitary. There was a clear mouse infestation, and the odor became unbearable. The lack of running water made the property unlivable. I contacted the host multiple times regarding the water issue, but nothing was done.Additionally, the oven did not work, there were no lights on the outside staircase leading to the bedroom, and there was no lock on the door, creating serious safety concerns.

Cabin with a great view of the river, BUT ā€œbathroomā€ is outside with a porta potty and outdoor shower. It does have electricity and running water. Overall, I would book it again, but Iā€™ll be better prepared for what Iā€™m actually booking.

Great time, if you are looking for a somewhat rustic adventure this is the place, definitely will stay again!!! Downfalls were a lot of traffic on the road and a few mice in the cabin.

Birthday get away

My son turned 10 and for his birthday wanted to go to a cabin and fish all wknd with a couple friends. This cabin was perfect, they could wake up and walk right out to the river and fish at their leisure.

The floors are in desperate need of repair, there is a huge soft spot right by the upstairs door along with what looked like black mold by the windows. The flooring by the fireplace is also soft. Stove didnā€™t work. It took 3 hours to cook something that shouldā€™ve taken 30 minutes. I understand the cottage is in a more rural area, but there were Japanese beetles, spiders and stink bugs everywhere. The scenery was beautiful and very serene, but I would not have paid what we paid after seeing the condition of this cottage.

Guy camping

Great location for our annual guy camping trip! An upgrade from our last rustic cabin! Running water and a full size fridge were a big plus. Oven didn't work great but the stovetop did. We will be back.

A great little getaway

The Blakely Hobbit cabin I stayed in with my dog was just perfect for a quick weekend getaway. We enjoyed the fire pit and walked along the Kickapoo River a little, enjoying its babbling. The cabin was toasty warm with just the heater downstairs, and the WiFi worked great (though I tried to unplug as much as possible). The owners were extremely quick to respond to any question I had, and offered solutions willingly. Thanks so much!

Would book again

A really awesome spot with a great view and porch. Quiet street, beautiful river. If youā€™re looking for romantic or upscale this isnā€™t it. The bathroom is an outdoor shower with no warm water and a portapotty. No dish soap to do dishes. Ladder going upstairs could use some work. This spot has its quirks but itā€™s an awesome stay for a group of friends who are after trout or the outdoor getaway in general.

Quiet rustic retreat

Except for what seemed like a lot of traffic for a country gravel road here in wisconsin, it was very peaceful. Night was quiet and comfortable. Had a nice fire outside and cabin was warm inside. Comfortable beds. Slight gas smell when we entered, but it seemed to dissipate once place was opened up. Attic type ladder to upper sleeping area was pretty shaky so I recommend using outside steps. Porta potties clean and fresh. An outside motion light would be nice for those who might need to venture to the potty in the night. All in all it fit our needs and we would not hesitate to stay again should the opportunity arise.

Roughing it

If you're looking for a place just to sleep and be one with nature this is it! Kinda like glamping. There was mice poop everywhere, it's that time of year, didn't scare us. But their was no forks, towels, napkins, they only provided 1 trash bag we went through in a hurry and had to use grocery bags for garbage. Ran to gas station for forks and paper towels. The oven dorsnt wirk, so took 4 hours tobake a 20min bitter braid. Other than thst a good place to rough it and relax

Pictures are better than reality-Porta potty outside as well a shower hooked up to outside of cabin. There are also safety violations and no key to lock door from the outside. We left early and tried phone number on sign to let someone know-no answer.

The property is beautiful, the 'cabin' is ok, the deck & picnic table are awesome, the hammock even better! A mouse lives in a drawer. šŸ­ Typically, a VRBO has 'a few necessities.' This place had literally nothing, not even a towel....no hot water in the outdoor shower, though the shower is uniquely cool. I don't even know if the ancient A/C upstairs works, but, there is no where to plug it in anyway. Someone used an extension strip at some point and it is fried to a crisp. There are several safety/maintenance issues that should absolutely be addressed. Side note: If it was my place, I'd make up all the beds instead of leaving each bed (except 1) stripped with all the bedding piled on each bed.....looked a bit like a flop house. Nonetheless, we LOVE the Driftless and had a great time!

I read the reviews after purchasing stay. I am very glad that we brought our own space heater. There is no WiFi. Itā€™s a true rustic experience. We had a great time.

Overall, the cabin worked well for us and we enjoyed our stay albeit a few quirks.

The cabin worked well for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The listing does make it seem more isolated than what it really is as there were people camping on both sides of the cabin less than 100 yards away. We also had to throw some food away due to mice getting into it. At the end of the day, the place is what you make of it and we didnā€™t allow certain things to affect our stay.
