Centrally located between Boone and Blowing Rock, Bear Pause Cabin is perfect for all seasons! Bear Pause is a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom log cabin that will accommodate 9 people. On the main level there is an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, two bedrooms, bathroom, and eat in kitchen. Enjoy the wood burning fireplace while watching a movie or while cooking in the fully equipped kitchen. On the main level there are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other bedroom with 1 twin over twin bunk and 1 twin over full bunk. The master suite is upstairs with an electric fireplace and a private newly remodeled bathroom. Some of the other features for this home include: Central heat and A/C, bamboo flooring in living room, open floor plan, wood burning fireplace, gas grill on upper deck, hot tub on lower deck and beautiful mountain views! Ski Mountain Cabin is located within walking distance of Appalachian Ski Mountain, 2 miles from Tanger Outlets, 3.5 miles from Tweetsie Railroad, and 2 miles from Blue Ridge Parkway entrance. So after a long day of hiking, skiing, shopping, and sightseeing, come back to Bear Pause and take advantage of the mountain views while relaxing in the hot tub or having a glass of wine on the upper deck.

The host was very responsive and cordial. I appreciate the timeliness of the responses. We had a few issues but the host rectified the situation to our satisfaction. The view was beautiful from the back deck.

Birthday Weekend

We came up to visit our Daughter at App State for her Birthday. The cabin is in a great location right between Boone and Blowing Rock. We enjoyed the hot tub and the back deck. The cabin was very cozy.

Great location at App Mountain

Our Girl Scout troop enjoyed our stay at this property. So close to the mountain for skiing. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire place, and the bunk room so that the girls could all bunk together as a group.

Great Weekend for Stay

The Bear Pause is a wonderful cabin. My best friend and I were able to have a great relaxing time to just sit and reminisce. The hot tub was perfect and I would recommend this cabin to everyone. Can’t wait to book it again for my family.

A great Thanksgiving

We had an awesome vacation this past Thanksgiving, The cabin was a ton of fun. It was super clean and cozy, and a great layout for a family. The cabin was well stocked, and while the kitchen is small, we were able to cook our entire traditional Thanksgiving feast. And lastly, the views are amazing!

This was our second time booking this property for a family trip to tweetsie railroad. The excitement of hearing the train whistle is great for the little ones! We comfortably fit two families one family with an 18 month old upstairs in one room and another family of 4 with a 2 and 4 year old downstairs. The stairs to get to the property would not be good for someone with poor mobility but it worked fine for our families. Having the pack and play available is very nice! The back porch was nice to step out while others were napping. The adults used the hot tub after the children went to bed and everything was clean and working properly. We had a great time and used the grill as well. Everything was there that we needed.

Great little get away

The property owner Dayna was truly a wonderful host. She made it very easy to check in and kept all lines of communication open. This was a special trip because I asked my partner of 5 and a half years to marry me and we were accommodated perfectly! I recommend this property to anyone who needs a nice little get away with a great view a wonderful property owner. THANKS AGAIN DAYNA!!!!

Lovely stay at Bear Pause

Our booking crossed two owners as the property changed hands during our reservation and both owners, previous and new, couldn't of been nicer to work with. The cabin is in a perfect location if you are skiing App Mtn - walking distance to the entrance which allowed us to do lunch and dinner at the cabin between ski runs - and close to other town attractions including Blowing Rock, Sugar/Beech Mtn, and shopping. The cabin is nicely equipped and decorated (extra special touches for Christmas) and had everything we needed for a family ski trip getaway. Communication with the owner was easy, pleasant, and quick and we will definitely be back for our next trip to Blowing Rock! Thank you for sharing your home with us - we had a lovely stay!

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful time! The home is comfortable, clean, and well furnished. The little touches, like the hot tub with raised seating around and the dimmable string of globe lights and the footstools in front of the rocking chairs on the porch were unexpected and so nice! The view was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sun rise over the foggy valley each morning and gazing at the stars from the hot tub at night. To get the great view, of course, the home is nestled on the side of the mountain, so there are quite a few stairs from the street to the home. The Ski Mountain Cabin was the perfect mountain get away for us!

Memorial Day Getaway

We had a wonderful time staying at this property for 3 children and 4 adults. It was a great location and had a fabulous view. The inside of the house was pretty accurate to the listing. We had plenty of linens and towels. I had two negatives regarding the property. One was the check in process. You had to download an app and open it each time to open the door also if you waited until you were at the house then there was not adequate service to open it the first time. A key code would have been much simpler in my opinion. Also the fire pit area had not been mowed in a long time and the area was unusable. The hot tub was very clean and fabulous. We loved hearing Tweetsie from the porch and overall had a wonderful weekend away. The owner of the property was excellent and very responsive.

Fabulous Cabin on the Mountain

My family had blast staying at this cabin -- it was clean and beautifully decorated and had everything we could possibly need. It's definitely up on the side of the mountain if you are looking for a secluded place with privacy (which we were) -- but its also so accessible to both Blowing Rock (5 min) and Boone (10-15 min). We went activities in both towns every day and relaxed at night on the porch or by the fire pit. Having the grill was amazing -- we caught fish at a trout farm and BBQed that night outside. Jacuzzi was nice after a long day once the kids were in bed. My only word of advice is there is a pretty steep stair case from the parking spot down the house -- make sure to make in suitcase you can carry :) We had 3 large rollers, we did OK! Last, we had some technical issues with the LockApp -- but Ashley was amazing, helpful, and quick -- she got us access to the extra lockbox and in the door in minutes. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway place that close to all the attractions.

Cozy Cabin close to everything!

Arrived at this cabin to find the 41 steps down to the cabin covered with ice and snow from the blowing snow making machine at the ski slopes down the street. Trying to navigate the slippery steps down with luggage and weekend supplies was treacherous. Once inside the cabin we discovered there was no wood for the wood-burning fireplace, which was the whole reason we chose the cabin. Off to the store we went for wood and ice melt. We worked on clearing the steps and of course lugging the wood down was quite the experience. Also, the solar lights at night do not work so when returning from dinner the steps can be difficult. I attempted to text and call the owner and reached them on the third try. There were no directions on the TV provider to operate the TV in the cabin instruction book, it should be updated. I think this cabin could be a 4 star if the owners made a few tweaks. Master bedroom bedspread was soiled and the pillow slips only covered half the pillows, needs updating and more than two ice trays. Cutely decorated and perfect for 4 adults. We loved the fireplace and left wood for the next renters. After these initial problems we love the Blowing Rock area and the cabin was close to everything. Hiking is amazing. We love the Gamekeeper Restaurant, Vidalia, and Bistro Roca.

Can't get a better location

I travel to Boone 3-4 times per year and I have yet to visit a property that has great views and is as easily accessible, yet this one checks both boxes. And being so close to both Boone and Blowing Rock means there is plenty to do within a very short drive. Great place!

Great Weekend Spot

Our family of four stayed here for a weekend trip to Grandfather Mountain. The property was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the view, the fire pit, and the hot tub. A nice location for a relaxing weekend stay.

Great view from deck!

The best part about the house is the view off the back deck. It was stunning and the sun never really hit the porch so we were always in the shade. We spent hours outside. I did think the kitchen needed better lighting. It was pretty dark in there.

Mountain getaway

Cozy, rustic, mountain cabin getaway with splendid views of the mountain range. Literally down the road from the App Mtn Ski resort. Appealed to the entire family with nearby towns of Boone and Blowing Rock. Had a great spring excursion and Dayna, our host, was very accomodating in arranging the schedule to fit. Thank you for a lifetime of memories!

Perfect Place for a Getaway

Amazing location, close to town and ski runs. Beautiful view from the deck. We enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub nearly every evening. Super quiet and peaceful, we felt like we were the only ones enjoying this area of the mountain. Kitchen is well stocked, beds super comfy and the TV was easy to operate. We appreciated the holiday decorations and the complimentary firewood. We will be back again for sure!
