The scent of pine mingles with the faint smoke from the fire pit, inviting you to unwind after a day on nearby trails. Inside, large windows flood the chaletā€‘style lofted living space with natural light, while the central heat keeps the cabin warm and welcoming all season.

Cozy Cabin Getaway in a Peaceful Setting

The description and pictures accurately reflect the propertyā€”it was just what we expected. We really enjoyed having BBQs out on the deck and making sā€™mores around the fire pit in the evenings. The location is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing family trip. The cabin itself is cozy and had everything we needed. Tony was quick to respond to any questions or requests we had during our stay. Cozy Rustic Mountain Cabin

Four of us spent a week continuing a long time friendship dating back to 1966. The cabin provided us with the perfect location to reminisce, visit some great restaurants and tourist areas, get in some awesome fishing, and make new memories.

Nice Quiet Few Days

It was nice to get away and relax in a secluded location. Enjoyed the hot tub. Had a good time walking around Berkeley Springs (even though most shops were closed). All in all it was a nice time away from work and hectic life.

Good location but house needs a lot of work

The house is a good size for my 8 adult friends but the house needs a lot of work. The showers work but if you donā€™t put the temp control knob in the perfect spots it is either super hot or cold. The kitchen floor tiles were coming up while you walked in a few. The upstairs shower leaked into the main bedroom ceiling. The deck is very big but the supports arenā€™t anchored into the foundation (we are engineers). Pros - great outside space and great fire pit. The hot tub worked great too. Amazing location close to the brewery and state parks.

Recently stayed at a cabin in Berkeley Springs, WV, and found it to be a refreshing retreat. While itā€™s no Marriott, and yes, youā€™ll find the odd cobweb which only adds to its rustic charm, the cabin itself was neat and clean. The kitchen came well-stocked with all the necessary cookware, making meal preparation easy and convenient. Communication with the host was both timely and courteous, ensuring a smooth experience from start to finish. The surrounding area was exceptionally quiet and dark at night, offering a level of peace and tranquility thatā€™s hard to come by. For anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this cabin offers a serene getaway.

Beautiful getaway in the fall

We really enjoyed our stay here, especially because the fall colors were on full display. Cabin had almost everything we needed, bed in the master is fantastic, and the balcony and fire pit were huge perks. Also really enjoyed the area - just a short drive to hiking trails, breweries and restaurants. Do not miss Cold Run Winery down the street. If youā€™re going to cook a lot I recommend bringing your own sharp knives, sheet pan and frying pan - there are mostly larger pots available. There were some basic oil and spices available and lots of coffee which is always appreciated. Place could use a few light bulb replacements and a deep clean of the common game shelves and but otherwise we found the place clean and well kept.

The area and stay over one the small issues of the home itself. Shower handles and controls are in need of attention as they donā€™t function well. Hot tub controls are a bit unresponsive, cover clips are mostly broken. Pool table is in bad shape. All but 1 stick is broken. Owner unwilling to do late checkout or early checkin even when the cleaners are not there.

Cousin reunion

The house was in a beautiful, private and quiet location with a lovely deck, which was enjoyable for the spouses who weren't cousins and needed to get away from the rest of us for awhile. We appreciated the kitchen table where we could lay out genealogy, photos, etc. while having the large dining table in the family room for meals. The dinnerware, glassware and cookware were very sufficient for us and only had to run the dishwasher at night. The coffee maker however was very slow, may need to be cleaned or replaced. One of the chairs in the dining room was weak and did become unglued. The beds were very comfortable as was the bedding. Nice hot water for showers. And the best of surprises, we were able to use the fire pit!

Needs attention

Great property and location with an attentive owner, but this is not a place for serious cooks--the kitchen lacked wineglasses, small plates, grater, blender, colander, and other items. The beds were great but there were not enough bedside lamps to go around, and the overhead fan in one bedroom was not working properly. There were several burned out light bulbs and no replacements and a broken chair at the dining room table. Basically this is a great place that felt a little incomplete.

Unexpected problem

Iā€™m not big on writing reviews but our family came to stay here for our mothers memorial service nearby. After driving 9+ hours we were greeted by the master bedroom bed not clean, someone just slept in it then the bathroom attached was unclean with used wet towels all over the floor. First impression was terrible. Kitchen stove had grease all over the top. Toilet chain broke so we had to flush the toilet by sticking our hand in the back and pulling up plug. We called Tony and he was very upset with the condition that we were dealing with. We had to wait 3 hours for a cleaning lady and then we were told we would have to leave for awhile so they could clean. We refused for this to happen so we waited on the deck. Cleaning couple were super sweet and that made it better. The rest of the cabin was nice and the area very quiet so that was also good. Seating and furniture were uncomfortable I donā€™t think this situation that happened to us is common but it happened. Hot tub and downstairs is very nice as well. All in all I would not book this cabin again but would stay in that area.

Misleading Pictures

I would not recommend staying here. While the owner is open to communication, it is apparent that the only people tending to the property are unreliable cleaning people. Most everything in the house is old, stained and dirty. We were to check in at 3pm but were delayed due to weather. As we were arriving, the owner texted an apologetic message explaining that the cleaning people may be there when we arrived but were halfway done as they were running late due to weather. However, when we went into the house it was obvious that the last people to set foot in the place were the guests before us. We walked into the smell of dirty dishes, dog bowls, bedding, floors, tables etc. The owner apologized and then gave another reason (cleaners at the store buying supplies) as to why the place was not ready and suggested that we wait elsewhere in the meantime - making it apparent that our choice was to deal with this or find another place if we wanted full satisfaction. We decided to accept the situation rather than seek other options as we all drove from out of state. We waited in the basement while the house was 'cleaned' - in about 45 minutes. We enjoyed our time with friends and the surrounding areas. We would definitely visit Berkeley Springs again but would look for a well-maintained property and owner that assures a quality experience for their guests.

Needs TLC

The house needs repairs and the cleaning service should be replaced. Bedding not clean in 3 out of 5 beds, broken furniture, general disrepair. Even the handbook, an ancient 3-ring binder was missing its cover and not updated with the current wifi password. They are not going out of their way to host you. The house is near a small pond, not a lake. We brought kayaks thinking it was a lake ā€” donā€™t bother. What it does offer: It is a big house, there is AC, a new refrigerator and grill and they do allow dogs.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area ā€“ and Tucker's Retreat in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
