The Salty Dog of Ortley Beach (Pet friendly and a few short blocks to the beach)

You will love staying at The Salty Dog which is located on 5th ave., just a few short blocks to the beach! It is a 5 min walk to Barnacle Bills and Kohr’s ice cream, the new Gigi's and Mia's Pizzaria. It is a 3 min drive to the 3rd or 4th avenue entrances to the beach which are the only blocks that have a parking lot, even though there is street parking as well. If you want to be closer to the bathrooms and the showers then enter on 6th instead. The walk to the beach is about 7-9 minutes. Our property is also located within 5 minute drive to Seaside Heights Boardwalk where you can bring the kids to go golfing, or play arcade games, get ice cream or go to Casino pier for amusement park rides. The boardwalk also has many bars and restaurants as well. You could also drive 20 minute to point pleasant and enjoy their boardwalk, restaurants and beach and they have amusement park rides geared more towards toddlers and younger kids. Our house has everything you need to call it home for just a few nights or a few weeks stay! The house is a 4 bedroom, 2 full bath house that is fully equipped to make your stay more enjoyable and relaxing. We took into consideration families with children and dogs so we have everything from board games, doggy gates, dog towels, dog bowls (just in case you forget to bring your own) and a hose outside for your pup should you need to hose him/her off. We just installed a fully private PVC 6 foot tall fence so now the pups and little kids can run around safely. The bedrooms have been furnished with families in mind as well. Outside we have an outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach and a sunny backyard to lounge around in or cool off under the shade of an umbrella. New BBQ Is available for use as well. At night if you want to sit by the firepit, we got you covered!! 6 beach badges will be provided as well. Towel and linens package available as well should you need it through a private company. Come stay with us and enjoy your nice walks along the bay at sunset or along the boardwalk in the mornings. Ample parking provided for up-to 6 cars and then there is also off street parking. Washer and dryer on premises. Beach chairs included for use.

Smoking is permitted outside so long as cigarette butts are disposed of in an ashtray and thrown out in a garbage bag so they don’t blow onto the rock

Family vacation

We had such an amazing week at the salty dog! The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs to hang out with us outside and not having to worry about them running off the property. The location was awesome too. We ended up driving to the beach but it was walkable if you prefer that! The parking lot by the beach had plenty of space which was really helpful. All our concerns and questions were answered promptly as well. Would def stay here again!

Ortley vacation

Very nice house. Comfortable beds, quiet neighborhood, large yard with lots of outdoor space. Updated kitchen was well stocked. Victoria was very reachable and responsive. Nice neighbors too

Clean and comfortable and dog-approved!

Thanks so much for sharing your home with us! We found the property to be very clean and exactly as listed. The fenced backyard was an absolute joy for our dog to spend time lounging outside. It was wonderful that at any time of day we could find both sun and shade in different parts of the yard. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. The laundry machines were a blessing. We found the beds very comfortable. While we stayed, we visited Rockafellas, Wasabi, Chef Mike’s ABG, Gigis, Mias, the Acai bowl food truck behind Wasabi, and Pedals and Paddles (for kayaks and stand up paddle boarding) and would recommend all. The view of the sunset from the park on the bay was breathtaking. Wonderful home, wonderful location! Thank you!!

Wonderful Ortley Beach vacation home for family, friends, and grandpup!

We were surprised that this lovely beach home was even better than the photos! Very well thought out with great attention to detail! The owner was very responsive to any questions. Great location between the beach and the bay! Walkable to several restaurants, ice cream, cute stores and delicious bakery! Impeccably clean! Great outdoor set up for grilling & dining, and relaxing in the back yard! Loved having the beach tags provided as well as beach chairs and umbrella! Recommend very highly!!

Memorial Day Weekend 2022

My family rented for the Memorial Day weekend 2022. The home was amazing and the interaction with the owner was simple and extremely helpful. The home was very spacious and outside was great for entertaining. Close to the beach and beach area attractions. Perfect everything for a family looking to vacation at the Jersey Shore.

Perfect size home

We stayed at The Salty Dog in early October and it was the perfect size for two couples plus an infant. We had family with children visit us one day and the back living room/bedroom was great for the kids to hang out while the adults had their own space in the front living room/kitchen. The outdoor space is wonderful with a firepit and plenty of seating, unfortunately it rained the entire time we were there so we couldn't use it. The neighbors are friendly and the location wonderful, just two blocks from the bay (with a nice playground) and a few blocks from the ocean. The house is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The host provided all the linens which was a great help and was easily able to be contacted. Thank you!

Great place

This was a great place to stay. The property was easy walking distance to the beach as well as several eateries and shops. The house is a nice size, the appliances are all good quality and worked well. The outdoor area was very large and accommodating. I could not have asked for a nicer house setup than this. It was great! Thank you to the owner for letting us stay here.

Family time

Salty Dog was amazing. Adorable house where everything possible was provided for us. We are seniors so we had some dietary needs and cooking in that kitchen was a joy . Perfectly air conditioned and the yard was a treat. Going back for sure.

Great house!

We really enjoyed our stay for 2 weeks at the Salty Dog. It was very easy to connect with Victoria the owner while we were looking at rentals early on in the process and she was very friendly and responsive. The house has everything you need including all linens and towels. Enough bedrooms to sleep 2 families and Victoria even provided a blow up mattress. The 2 full bathrooms were key and the outdoor shower was the best! Location is also great, a block from the bay and only a few blocks from the beach. We biked and walked everywhere. The Salty Dog also has a great fenced in backyard where we played corn hole and nice side yard for bbq’ing and dining. We were able to bring our little dog Max to this very pet friendly home. A perfect Ortley Beach vacation, thanks to The Salty Dog!

Spotless in Ortley Beach

Sweet cottage house, located near the bay & ocean. Super clean and organized. Lots of big fluffy towels & nice bedding & 4 TVs. Kids enjoyed bunk bed. Lots of seating in the pebbled yard. Doggie friendly! Owner easy to connect with. Would definitely recommend. Spent a long weekend w family members and look forward to do that again. An active senior couple from Wash DC area.

Welcome to the Salty Dog of Ortley Beach. My name is Victoria, my husband is Christian and our son, who is 9 years old, is Asher. We recently sold our Belmar rental property and bought this house in Ortley Beach. We have spent the last 10 summers in Ortley with my in-laws at their beach house and we always dreamed of having a house of our own in Ortley. We love Ortley so much more because it really is a BEACH FAMILY TOWN. All you see is kids, families, and people bike riding, or walking their dog, or people walking around to and from the beach in the swimwear. Its such a nice place to spend your summers but honestly its nice year round. The arcades are always open in Seaside and bars and restaurants are always open right over the bridge in Toms River and neighboring towns next to Ortley. There are festivals and activities that go on throughout the year along with the Polar Plunge in January (cancelled this year I believe). During the summer visit Music Man for ice cream and a show and go to Barnacle Bills Arcade right up the block for golf, arcade games, ice cream and they serve food. It really is such a nice, family town that we are sure you will fully love and enjoy just as much as we do. We cant wait to host you!

We are one of the rare properties in Ortley Beach and neighboring towns that are pet friendly while still being reasonably priced. We have a very large property with a fully fenced in private yard, so enough space to have family over for a BBQ. We also provide a firepit so long as you use it responsibly. We have an outdoor shower to use after a long beach day to rinse all that sand off. We have a hose outside to rinse off your pup as well, if you have one down with you. We provide a washer and dryer and all the amenities of home and if there is anything that we can do to make your stay more enjoyable please let us know.
