Nestled in the heart of Leelanau County you'll find our spacious 3,600 sq ft log cabin. Close to Traverse City, Empire, Frankfort, Suttons Bay or Glen Arbor.
Just outside your door you can explore the best our county has to offer, from beaches to vineyards and hiking to biking.

$125 per dog per stay with a max of two.
$250 per dog if caught sneaking in.

Extra guest fee $15 per person, per night.

Host was amazing. Very thoughtful! House was very comfortable. Celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday with our 3 adult sons and their girlfriends! Plenty of room, very comfortable. Hot tub was lovely. All the beds were comfortable. Especially loved the pool table right off the kitchen and main living room. The hanks for the great memory!

Everything was great! Keyless access was perfect. Beautiful home with plenty of space for everyone. Loved the setting amongst the trees and nice privacy. John and Kelly were great to work with and were very helpful. Only downside was we would like to have been able to stay longer. Would highly recommend for a wonderful Michigan getaway. Hope to go back!

Shady Eighty was Wonderful

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. We were looking for a different type of vacay other than a beach one and this spot delivered. The cabin is nestled on a dead end street in the woods. The driveway was long and had hills so the kids loved riding their scooters up & down. The bar patio was great and a serene place to enjoy that morning cup of coffee. Everything was 25 mins away- it became a joke after a few days because that was always the answer. The lakes in Michigan are just what you see online and I was absolutely amazed! I will be going back to see more. The only things we felt needed an upgrade in the house was the mattresses and sheets. The beds were pretty hard. We bought toppers while we were there lol. The owner stopped by (with advanced notice) and he was so helpful and friendly. Great communication and gave us a homemade jar of maple syrup. Highly recommend renting from them.

Family Vacation

John & Kelly were responsive, personable, and attentive. I would stay here again with my family: parents, adult siblings, and nieces and nephews 5 and younger. I would recommend this host and location to anyone.

Great place!

What a great cabin this was for our annual winter friends/family trip. The cabin had it all. Perfect location too. You can feel secluded yet be in Traverse City under 30mins. John was a great host & we couldn’t speak more highly of him and how he went above & beyond for us. Looking forward to coming back!

Perfect Family Vacation

We had the best time at the Shady Eighty! The property is beautiful and the cabin provided everything we needed! We had 7 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of room for everyone. The property and cabin were extremely clean and the space was cozy. We enjoyed the hot tub, sitting around the deck bar in the evenings and playing pool! It was close to so much- Sleeping Bear Dunes, Sutton's Bay, Leland, Traverse City, Glen Arbor. A quick drive through the country let us enjoy a lot of beachside towns- shopping and eating! We also spent one day at Empire Beach- The setting with the bluffs on both sides was beautiful. It is rocky for a bit in the water, but you eventually get to sad a couple yards out. The beach had nice bathrooms and play structures and picnic tables. John was so attentive to any questions I had and provided a lot of great suggestions on places to check out. I have stayed at a lot of rental properties over the years and this was the best overall experience I have had!

Family Retreat

Great place all around!! Beautiful outdoor setting, neat and clean, tons of space. Great communication from the hosts. Pool table was a huge plus for our family! Would definitely stay again if headed that way.

Winter stay at the Shady Eighty was great!!

We had a blast at this place! We played countless card games, pool, and enjoyed the hot tub even in the frigid and snowy weather. John was great responding to our questions and we had a blast at the tubing hill at Timberlee at his recommendation. Enjoyed lunch and shopping in downtown TC as well. Basement was chilly but we had plenty of blankets to keep us warm. Highly recommend.

Beautiful rustic home situated on secluded wooded property.

Perfect spot to experience Michigan in the fall. The home is spacious and beautiful and the property is picturesque. The owners are very attentive and make your experience is everything you want it to be. Great place to slow down and reconnect with family. Many nearby things to enjoy. Climbing the dunes, hiking trails, lovely wineries and a spectacular sunset cruise on the lake. I highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Great property for a group!

We were very impressed with this property and the responsiveness of John & Kelly. There was plenty of room for our group that was in the area for a wedding and followed by a few days of vacation. Our group consisted of people from Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, New York and Florida. We were able to spend time together without feeling crowded. John & Kelly we’re always very responsive to any question we had, usually within a few minutes. We would definitely rent this property again!

Great for a family getaway

The house was spacious and clean. It was well supplied with everything you need. The large yard and driveway was a hit with the children, and the 3 car garage was a bonus. We also enjoyed the back deck with bar, grill and hot tub. The location is great to visit the many wineries, breweries, the dunes, and the many small tourist towns. Something for everyone!

Great summer gettaway

Really enjoyed this property! Originally a bachelorette trip turned into Just a fun summer trip! Loved all of the living space- we grilled a bunch, went in the hot tub and watched movies. Loved Gabe’s country store and the curling bar! Closer proximity to traverse city than I expected. John and Kelly were great at communicating too. Will definitely Book again if I ever need a big house rental again!

Winter Family Getaway

We traveled up north to get away from all the people and movement of the Metro Detroit Area. The home hosted our family of 5, as well as another family of 5. It's a great place to go to get back in touch with what really matters! John was an awesome host. Insanely attentive to what we may need and ensured the driveway was cleared after the snow events. It truly is a great location, stay at the house and relax or go into Traverse City for the breweries. Definitely recommend!

Peaceful getaway in northern Michigan

This property is exactly as advertised! Everything was clean and in top condition, the best condition of any house I've rented over the years. So much space inside and a gorgeous deck with bar, hot tub, etc. The hosts were highly engaged and very thoughtful as well. Top marks all around, thank you for the restful stay!

Great weekend getaway

We had a weekend trip for relaxing and a wine tasting tour. House was perfect - had everything set up to meet our needs. Beautiful property and great house! Plenty of space for the group. Owners were extremely responsive and helpful with activity suggestions for our stay.

Perfect for a family getaway!

We were in Traverse City this weekend for my son's wedding. This was the perfect place to stay with my adult children and grandson. It had everything we were looking for to relax, cook and play together during the evenings! The hosts are great to work with and even brought a pack n play with mattress, baby seat for the table and a baby gate when they learned that we had our 8 month old grandson with us. Our famiy made many happy memories together! I hope we get to come back!!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Girls Weekend

I booked this home for a bachelorette party and it was absolutely perfect! We had 10 girls and there was plenty of room. We really enjoyed the hot tub, the deck, and the pool table. Everything was so clean and the hosts were wonderful. We all want to come back again. Would highly recommend this cabin!

Beautiful Log Home

The home is large and kept up beautifully inside and outside. Located in a great area to many things. The owner was very helpful with local places to eat and what were the best places to visit. It’s a great place!
