Private path to the beach out your back door! Pristine, well stocked home with a 3 minute walk to beaches, restaurants, shopping, wine tasting and 5-star hotels including the Rosewood Miramar. You won’t find a better-located cottage to enjoy the Montecito lifestyle. This updated, private 1200 sq ft 3 bed 2 bath cottage is very clean with brand new, quality furnishings, amenities, and a backyard jacuzzi. The third bedroom/office is a detached converted sleep shed with no bathroom attached. (It's about 20 feet from the house). Cozy so best suited for a teen or single traveler. Great floorplan with room for everyone and lovely outdoor space for dining, relaxing and barbequing. Live the Miramar/Montecito lifestyle where nearby hotel rooms are $2000-$6000 per night. Near the train.

The sunny Butterfly Cottage has a beachy, modern palette with a great floor plan, quality furnishings, light oak floors, enough seating for everyone and pretty windows and light streaming throughout. Stainless appliances in the cook's kitchen and well stocked pantry. The primary features an extra comfortable King bed, an ensuite bathroom with a tub. The second bathroom features a queen sized bed, bay window and large closet. Desks in both rooms for working. The fully gated, wrap-around yard features a private patio with an outdoor dining area, plenty of comfortable seating, a peak of the mountains, a jacuzzi, and a BBQ. There is a private path straight to Hammonds Beach for a great sunrise and sunset viewing right out your back door where you will find an empty beach.

My wide, two adult daughters and I enjoyed this property, loaded with many appreciated amenities, over the rainy 2025 Christmas holiday.We made great use of the fully equipped kitchen to prepare a perfect prime rib Christmas roast. Local sea bass fired quickly on the gas grill. Usually we would mostly eat out on this type of trip, but we really enjoyed hunkering down together through the storms, preparing meals, playing board games and catching up on some streaming content.We loved the property and wont hesitate to rebook for another visit. Also, communication with the host was excellent.

Gem in Montecito

Very comfortable cottage an easy walk to beaches. One of best equipped properties we’ve rented. Excellent host and great communication. The train is very close but fades into the background as the days go by. Highly recommended.

great home, great location, great host

Stayed here with my with, our 18-month old daughter, and my mother-in-law. The location is fantastic. The home itself was spacious and comfortable and clean. The host was helpful and communicative. Great experience.

A July 4 Getaway

This is a sweet little cottage just a short walk to the beach, with everything you could want right at your fingertips. Justine was out of town but easily reachable and very accommodating. The kitchen is fully stocked, the TV has all the premium channels, and the location is a very short walk to Coast Village Road. No complaints, only praise.

Amazing Montecito Cottage

We had an amazing time. The hosts were attentive and helpful but the cottage itself was the best. Clean modern and very comfortable. This is the best part…. Very easy walk to town for dinner drinks coffee breakfast groceries etc. Very easy walk to the beach. A few beaches actually. This is our favorite location in the area. Can’t miss. You’ll have an amazing time.

Wonderful Experience from Start to Finish!!

I loved everything about the experience of staying at this property. My teenage daughter and I found it so welcoming and proximal to all the things we wanted to do. Essential items for cooking were on hand and beach towels, charging cables, and coffee were thoughtfully placed where we could find them. I was not familiar with the area when booking, and the property owner described the location and helped me feel comfortable with my choice from the first email through the final one when we left. I hope to return again and again!

The perfect getaway

We are so happy we had the opportunity to stay in this lovely cottage for a week! We had the perfect vacation and this house along with it's location made it possible. A bonus is the outdoor space is so peaceful and acts as an extension of the house; we ate almost all our meals out there. We stayed here with our 4yr old and 2yr old so we ended up driving to the beach on most days but one would not have to. I hope we can stay here again!

Wonderful time in Montecito

We spent two wonderful weeks at this charming cottage, ideally located a short stroll from the lower village in Montecito. The house is well furnished and equipped and the back and side yards are inviting places to spend time on a sunny afternoon. The kitchen was functional and spacious and unusually well stocked. Best of all were our hosts who were chock full of restaurant and other local suggestions. We felt more like we had borrowed a friend's house than renters. We could not recommend this property more highly and hope to return next year for an even longer stay.

The beautiful Butterfly Cottage in Montecito is the perfect home base for a family or couples vacation in Santa Barbara. The Host, Justine, is gracious, accommodating, very accessible and responsive to her guests. The Cottage is extremely comfortable and well-appointed. There is a lovely outdoor area for relaxing in the sun or lounging in the hot tub. An easy walk to Butterfly Beach, the area is very dog-friendly with easy access to great restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed our stay so much and look forward to returning soon. Kate & Savannah

Enjoyable Stay

Great location as far as walking to town for dinner, or heading to the beach or going for a bike ride. The cottage is very well done and we enjoyed the hot tub too. The only negative is the proximity to the train as it can be a little loud when it passes by, but that seems to be a daytime thing only.

Great rental in a great location!

We had such a great stay here! It was so nice being able to easily walk into the lower village and to the beach. The house was so cheerful and airy - great light! Really enjoyed the beach vibe and decor. Justine was wonderful to communicate with and was super helpful during our stay. And she let us check-in early in the day as there hadn’t been renters right before us. We will definitely stay here again.

Outstanding standalone cottage, updated, quiet, near everything!

We have traveled to Montecito for years but have never experienced this little neighborhood near the beach and walkable to town. This is a well appointed, clean and up to date cottage with a small but very private back yard with great seating area and hot tub. Appreciated the fresh decorating, clean and streamlined look - even a Sonos system set up for guest use. Nicely appointed kitchen with newer appliances. Neighborhood is quiet and convenient. Yes, occaisional trains go by, but not between 10pm-7am, and they are relatively few, quick and pretty quiet. Great for a small family or couple. And the owners were wonderful and easy to reach if needed but also left us alone to enjoy the place. Great experience!

Once you arrive put away your car keys, and you will see this location can't be beat. Down a private ficus-lined lane along with 5 other cottages, the Butterfly Cottage is close to everything Montecito has to offer including 3 local beaches, dining, shopping, and plenty of outdoor trails. Feel like surfing the local’s favorite Hammonds Beach? Take the 3-minute private path out your back gate. Want to watch one of Santa Barbara’s sunsets? Walk 5 minutes to The Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel and Butterfly Beach. Or stroll over to European- inspired Coast Village Road to shop, wine taste, or choose among the many restaurants such as Lucky's, Tre Lune, and the Honor Bar to dine. End the evening with a walk to the famed Mirimar Hotel for a nightcap and a soak in your backyard jacuzzi. If you tire of Montecito, Downtown Santa Barbara is a 5-minute drive away.
Note-Everyone in Montecito hears the passenger train a few times during the day briefly. Oprah, the guests at the nearby 5 star hotels, and you will too. It runs between 7 am and 9:30 pm a handful of times. It truly isn't bad and lasts 5-10 seconds.
