Unplug and relax in this serene 5+ acre setting on gorgeous Coal Creek Mountain, while elk, deer, and moose wander through the Ponderosa Pines. Enjoy the stunning drive following the winding West Fork Bitterroot river, coming upon the unbelievable Painted Rocks Lake, and a little further to mile marker 26; just seven miles from the Idaho border. The Drive Alone is breathtaking.

March through November you'll see fly fishermen along the West Fork Bitterroot River and the many creeks that flow into the river boasting of five different species of trout.
Summer nights are frequently in the mid 40's with days in the high 70's. Elevation approx. 4,800 ft. The road is well kept in winter, allowing easy driving access to Lost Trail Ski Resort.

Local activities include fly fishing at the West Fork Bitterroot River and surrounding creeks, hiking, and many more. There is nearly 3,000 miles of Forest Service Trails plus the 101 mile Magruder Road Corrider which separates the Bitterroot-Selway Wilderness from the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Or simply enjoy the front porch swing and read a good book. There's plenty of sightseeing to do from Glacier National Park to historic battle sights to Hamilton's famous Farmers Market on Saturday morning.

Peaceful getaway

We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The house is well appointed and large enough for a family or a group of friends. It is peaceful and you'll occasionally see elk and deer roaming the property.

Fifth time staying here in the summer. Love the remoteness, the quiet, the mountain weather. Cool nights good for sleeping, also for hot tubbing and an outdoor fire. Great boating and wave running on the reservoir--no crowd, ever.

One of the best family weekends?

We were fortunate to find this place available for a last minute family trip. This lodge is out of the way, which was perfect. The lodge, guest house, and bunkhouse was perfect for our group, plenty of space and ability to split off different family units for sleeping. The lodge was so nice for gathering for meals. The pavilion and fire pit also was perfect! The views from the property were beautiful. The outside grounds were great for playing games! We will return again!

Paradise

Possibly the most beautiful place I have ever been in the USA! From the warm and cozy home/cabins, to the little town of Darby, this vacation by far was one of our best! Lots of room for extra guests, stunning outdoor space for dinners and camp fires on the property, big kitchen for amazing home cooked meals! The bitterroot area was life changing! The river and streams are slap full of every breed of trout you can imagine and we caught dozens. Saw HUGE mule deer, moose, bison, and tons of elk! The ATV ride was a blast through the mountains, white water rafting the salmon river was breathtaking, and horse back riding up the mountains was a bucket list adventure! We loved it so much there, itā€™s on the radar to purchase land soon outside of Darby! The people were super friendly, the town is full of charm, and the location is somewhere true outdoorsman should experience!! Gary was easy and flexible to work with and we truly appreciated his hospitality!!! Promise you we will be back!!!

I was amazed at the facility. The facility. It provided all the amenities you would expect and even more. Hot tub was manageable once we got it cool down and the grandkids did love it. Found a mouse in the sticky trap in the kitchen which was quite stinky though. Also there was a rat outside in the woodpile. Overall, I enjoyed the location and the facility was more than normally expected. Rating it very well

Painted Rocks Area

My daughter and I stayed over Christmas weekend. It snowed which is no big news but it just made the area even more beautiful. The house has everything you need except your food. Iā€™ve stayed in many rentals and this was the most well equipped. Wood for the fireplace and wood stove was plentiful which was good, itā€™s been very cold at night. The main house has a Queen size and 2 twins which is a little hard to tell in the description. The bedding needs to be updated but the bed was comfortable. We went to relax and this was a great place to forget about stress. We saw 4 deer each day. They were 2 elk herds close to town. The main cabin is very pretty and homey! We will be back here in Spring or Summer!

Excellent!!!!! We would stay here again, again and again.

Absolutely Gorgeous! Amazing Rental Property

This property exceeded our expectations and was bigger than the pictures look. There was so much to do in the area. The whole experience was so relaxing and the area is stunning. Family getaway for Thanksgiving

This was the perfect getaway for our family! With 3 cabins (Main, and 2 guest cabins, there was plenty of room for our family to spread out, relax and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. We were able to cross country ski, hot tub while the snow fell upon us, go sledding, enjoy an all-day outdoor fire, and enjoy some late November fly fishing. ;-) The host was very responsive to any and all questions. The kitchen is stocked with everything that you need to settle in for several days. We could have stayed for a month. ;-) My kids had a blast! It's a perfect getaway if you're looking to explore, relax, play games, fish, hunt, etc... This place is ideal if you're looking for a quiet getaway for your group. Clean, comfortable, relaxing!

It was our first time in Montana and it did not disappoint. Gary was wonderful to work with, the property/cabin was beautiful and watching the elk and deer right outside the window every morning and afternoon from the dining room. They were literally right off the porch in the yard.
