The property, neighborhood, and surrounding area are beautiful. Our host was accommodating - but a bit controlling and manipulative.
When we arrived, we tried to nap off some jet lag, but she told us we had to come down right away to pay her a tourist tax (that we knew nothing about) because she had to go to the store before they closed. Found out later that they had gone to the store the day before.
Breakfast was pretty minimal for a bed-and-breakfast. Every morning consisted of meat, cheese, bread, and mediocre coffee. When I asked if she had any fruits or vegetables, she gave me an unpeeled orange. I was grateful.
Our last morning we planned on leaving by the checkout time - which is 11 AM. However, at breakfast she sprung on us that we needed to be out 45 minutes early because the cleaning lady was coming.
(The cleaning lady didn’t show up until almost 1130) as we were in the street trying to leave and being interrogated by our host because she couldn’t find a couple rags. She accused us of taking them and demanded we pay €10. It was very uncomfortable and awkward.
I felt sorry for her.
She found them later - but did not reimburse us.
She made a huge awkward uncomfortable deal about a very small matter.
Her deceptions and accusations put a huge damper on our visit.
