Vermont West is the respite you have been waiting for. A country house, Vermont West is nestled deep in the rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin. It is a weekend home away from home, filled with serenity and privacy. Situated on a 12 acre tree farm, there are mowed trails to roam on the property, a small winding creek, gardens of wildflowers, a fresh water spring and an evening sky full of stars, dependent on Mother Nature. Regardless of the season, you will find yourself immersed in the beauty of nature and the tranquility of pure relaxation.

Conveniently located between Dodgeville and Spring Green, an approximately 15 to 20 minutes drive to either, you will find an abundant amount of cultural destinations from Taliesen, various Frank Lloyd Wright architectural buildings, American Players Theater, the House on the Rock, Global View, and many others.

If shopping is your preference, you will find many little shops to poke around in, from modern kitchen and gourmet, to antiques and Lands End resale.

If sport is what you are after, fly fishing is excellent in the Otter Creek, just a mile away, great golf courses are located in either Dodgeville or Spring Green, and the hills are to die for, for any bicyclist or cross country skier. Whether you bring your snow shoes or your waders, you will feel right at home.

Vermont West will be one of the most scenic and enchanting country homes you will ever stay at. Our guests are amazed at the sky full of stars on a summers night. The sights and sounds of the abundant wildlife. Deer walking through the hills you can see from the wall of windows in the living room. Falling asleep to the sounds of the coyotes in the distance. The estate is so calming, you can feel the stress roll off. You will find yourself saying like so many before you, 'I don't want to leave and I definitely want to come back!'

Nice old farm house that has been updated on a large property near Spring Green. We have stayed here over multiple years as a base for many of the attractions Spring Green has to offer including American Players Theater, Canoeing the Wisconsin River, House on the Rock, and Governor Dodge State Park.

Wonderful weekend getaway for the adults.

We stayed here with the adults in the family and left the kids behind. It was a beautiful location. Very peaceful. The house was perfect for our needs.

Perfect location quite and peaceful!

The location is perfect tucked away in snail secluded valley. The renters are first classā€¦ā€¦response to questions or if you need anything to is immediate. Will be staying there every time in the area.

We had the best time at Vermont West! Great communication from hosts, incredible grounds and amenities, the kitchen is huge and well stocked, and the beds are so comfortable! Thanks for an amazing stay!!!

Peaceful and relaxing visit

Everything was exactly as advertised. Hosts were attentive and the property was beautiful and secluded. This house is in very beautiful hilly farm country, about 15 minutes to Dodgeville.

Lovely getaway weekend

Very comfortable house on a beautiful pastoral property. Is about 20 mins fro sprimg green, where we enjoyed a Taliesin tour and a trip to American Players Theater. We enjoyed grilling our dinner, eating on the patio after sunset, coffee on the front porch, and games around the kitchen table. Beru comfortable and relaxing getaway

Vermont West is a beautiful, serene retreat

What a wonderful property. Secluded, serene, and beautiful. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed an American Players Theater show and a farm dinner in Dodgeville. The home was perfectly situated for our needs. The hosts were super communicative and responsive. I canā€™t praise this place enough. Will definitely come back!

Great place to stay!

The house was very clean, kitchen well stocked, and large kitchen table - great for a group. Linens on beds nice quality, box fans in every room if needed, A/C works great. Nice front porch over looking the front yard and firepit area. Walk up the hill in back and watch the sunset, and be sure to walk the trail around the house. Tons of books, games, toys, croquet, bocce ball etc. They thought of everything....Nice large gas grill in back works great too. Piggly Wiggly in town is nice too... be sure not to forget anything as it's about 20 minutes back to town. Walmart in Dodgeville too.Our cell phones worked in the house w/VZ but was a little spotty (FYI). Gave house phone number to family in case needed, so not a big deal what so ever.Had a hiccup at first booking (which was my fault) and the owner was quick to resolve my mistake.For sure recommend this property! Pictures on this listing are exactly as the property is in real life.Enjoy - you won't be disappointed!

Last Minute Getaway

We wanted a little trip before summer ended and saw a segment on WTTW about Dodgeville and all the sites in the area and had to check it out. Vermont West is a charming farmhouse tucked into the hills surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, farms and nature. The interior is just as perfect. Kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. Bedrooms were so comfortable. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. It was the perfect home base after checking out the local attractions (House on the Rock, Taliesin, Dodge State Park, Wisconsin Riverā€¦) We loved VW!!!

If you are a fan of the farmhouse aesthetic and rural surroundings, this place is for you. The house is equipped with most of the modern amenities you need, plus vintage doorknobs and original wood floors. For anyone with mobility challenges, though, you may want to find a place with easier access. There are stone steps of varying height up to the front porch with no handrail, and all bedrooms are up a flight of steep narrow stairs.Thankfully, we had some young twenty-somethings to help us carry in our bags and provisions.Communication from the hosts was good. We were provided with information to pick up groceries ahead of time, because the closest store is 20 mins away. You don't want to forget the milk! And it was made clear ahead of time that cell phone coverage was sketchy due to the rural location, so it did not come as a surprise to find "no bars".Things that weren't quite what we expected included a coffee maker that wouldn't brew a full pot, maybe needed descaling? We found most cooking needs, but there was no foil. Photos of the property we viewed prior to booking showed a cast iron wood burner in the living room, but we found it had a padlock on it so it cannot be used for heat or ambiance. No doubt host concerns that it could be a fire hazard or an insurance risk.So all in all, it met our space needs but there were also things that were trifle disappointing. It's a beautiful location and probably even better in summer or fall.

So peaceful

Sweet farmhouse on a lovely property, surrounded by trees and lawn and farmland. You will hear the occasional farm vehicle, but mostly just birds birds birds. The house is perfect for a getaway and miles away from other people. Wifi is fine for checking email and light streaming but probably not for working remotely or playing Fortnite. Easy drives to grocery stores in Spring Green or Dodgeville, and outings to Taliesin or Mineral Point. Owners are respectfully distant but available and friendly if needed. We're happy we went.

Our stay at Vermont West

We had no internet/tv the entire stay. Landline could only make local calls and owners phone number was not local. We were not able to conect to wifi or data at all to call in and report the issue. The kitchen chairs need to be tightened up. My elderly disabled mother fell out of one due to it being very wobbly. The spongy areas of the floor and slippery rugs were not condusive to a walker. We would have loved to be able to do laundry while we were there. We enjoyed that the kitchen was fullly stocked with the needed tools to easily cook. I loved that there were plenty of books and games. The location itself is beautiful! It is so serene and relaxing.

Perfect getaway

Needed to be in the area for a local wedding and booked this place on a whim. I canā€™t even tell you how weird Iā€™m getting two trips out of one! Beautiful home and such gorgeous trees on the property. Enjoyed every second.

Splendid Time in Vermont West

Family of four adults enjoyed a beautiful early fall stay at Vermont West. The house was lovely and well appointed, and completely as described. Paul and Therese were a pleasure to deal with -- virtually during the booking process and in person after we checked in. This is a lovely, remote home nestled in the rolling hills of the Driftless area. It was perfect for relaxing, and as a base camp for forays to APT in Spring Green, and trips to Mineral Point and New Glarus.
