Beautiful townhouse at the waterfront near beach & city center

Welcome to our beautiful townhouse. The house was built in 1890 and still has the original characteristics: high, ornamented ceilings (330 m) stained glass windows and lots of space (230 m2). We have just renovated the house (2024) so you will find everything in excellent condition and very comfortable.

The location is perfect: overlooking water and park, but in walking distance of city center (10 mins), train station (5 mins) and 10 min by car to the beach. By train it's only 15 minutes to Amsterdam Central Station.

We have 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 toilets, an office room, a game/play area and a big garden and terrace. A stylishly decorated house, perfect for families or friends.

If you're a cooking enthusiast, you've come to the right place. Since April 2024, we've installed a brand new kitchen, fully equipped with all the amenities you need. Get ready for delicious meals and enjoyable cooking adventures during your stay with us.

Enjoy a morning walk along the picturesque Schotersingel canal to grab fresh bread rolls from the nearby bakery. Within walking distance, you'll also discover a cozy, trendy coffee shop and charming delicatessen shops and boutiques.

Haarlem Holiday

Jorus and his family were incredibly accommodating. The house is beautiful in every way, perfect for a family holiday. Haarlem is a lovely town and the location to the old town, train station, and parks is wonderfully convenient.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The canal and beautiful trees right across the street were very relaxing. Great open kitchen and we loved the sunroom in the back. I would have gladly stayed another week.One warning to other travelers: The spiral stairs were very tricky for my parents and I would not recommend to families traveling with older folks. Also the closet space is extremely limited.

Beautiful home in quiet neighborhood walking distance to lively center of charming town

This house is better than the pictures! House is comfortable, stylish, 5 bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and lovely spaces for a group of 5 to hang out, cook and relax. Location is convenient to everything. Short walk to Haarlem station and central town and just 15 minute ride to Amsterdam and easy access to other towns like Leiden and The Hague. Haarlem itself is super charming and lively with some great museums and beautiful canals. The host was super responsive and helpful including making dinner reservations for us. We rented bikes and biked 25 minutes to the sea and along bike paths in the dunes.

A very comfortable and well-located house

The photos and information give a fair description of this house. It is very comfortable. Being a family home, everything you could need is provided. It was good to have a garden in which to sit out and eat. It is just a 10 minute walk to the station and a further 5 minutes into the centre of Haarlem, which is a very pleasant town with lots to see and do. Jorus was very helpful throughout and everything went smoothly.

Amazing place just outside of Amsterdam - a true gem of a neighborhood

We had a wonderful stay at this charming home in Haarlem! The location was absolutely perfect—nestled in a peaceful, authentic neighborhood just 15 minutes from Amsterdam by train. It really felt like living like a local, not just visiting.The house was clean, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the backyard, a quiet spot to relax after a day of exploring. The nearby playground was a great bonus for families, and the boat rental just steps away made it easy (and fun!) to explore the canals like a true Dutch local.Be aware the home has three steep flights of stairs, which is typical for many Dutch homes. Like many places in the Netherlands, there’s no A/C, so you’ll likely keep the windows open—which also means being mindful of sound, as it's a quiet residential area with close neighbors.All in all, it was a fantastic base for our trip—peaceful, authentic, and well-connected. We’d absolutely stay here again!

Elegance and class.

If I could choose a personal home along a Netherlands canel, this would be it. Jorus was responsive and kind. I loved the heated floors and the brightness and color and the cuteness of the bird song in the bathroom. We played scrabble and chess, drinking wine and walking to town for breakfast and the train. Getaway in beautiful Haarlem

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the ‘Historical Townhouse’ and it was truly a delightful experience. My friends and I were keen on exploring the charming city of Haarlem, and this accommodation provided us with the perfect base for our adventure. One of the standout features of this home is its exceptional location. Being just a five-minute walk away from the Haarlem Train Station was incredibly convenient, especially as we were relying on public transportation during our trip. This allowed us to easily access the city and make day trips to nearby attractions. The proximity to the train station made our travel plans seamless and efficient. The property itself is quite spacious and well-appointed. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, it provided us with ample space and privacy. The layout of the home was well-thought-out, as the bedrooms allowed for a comfortable night's sleep while the open kitchen-dining room area and living room became the hub of our social activities. This arrangement struck the perfect balance between personal space and communal areas, enhancing the overall quality of our stay. One of the highlights of our experience was the ease with which we could explore downtown Haarlem. A stroll from the property took us right into the city's heart. The convenience of this short walk meant we could easily explore the local shops, cafes, and attractions without worrying about lengthy commutes or transportation logistics.

Beautiful house in a fabulous setting

We were so impressed with this largetown house in Haarlem, beautifully furnished, a great view and idyllic setting and only 10 minutes walk into the centre of Haarlem. The landlord is very friendly and accomodating too . A Perfect stay in every way we just didn't want to leave and can't wait to return !

A great stay in Haarlem

The property was amazing and a great start to our Netherlands vacation. It was convenient to the train station and downtown Haarlem. We enjoyed the upstairs game room and beautiful backyard. The hosts were helpful and friendly.

New Year's eve in Haarlem

This is a wonderfully restored and updated traditional "vertical" Dutch house on several floors, with very high ceilings and large windows - with beautiful view on water and trees. Heated floor of bathroom and large tub were particularly appreciated by some members of the family! Pleaseant and quiet street that follows the zig-zag of the moat around the city's former defensive walls. Easy walking distance from the city center. The owner kindly arranged for curbside parking - which was always available presumably because it is is metered. A special place we can highly recommend.

Beautiful House in Haarlem

We´ve spend great days in this wonderful house. It has enough space and everything you need. We were a little surprised that it was the home of our host, that we had probably not seen in the description of the object. The host was very friendly, uncomplicated and helpful. Everything worked well, so we spent lovely days in Haarlem, Amsterdam and on the beach.

We are Jorus and Renske and we moved to Haarlem in 2020 with our 3 kids (10, 14, 16).
Only this special house at this unique location could make us move from Amsterdam.

We love the combination of walking to the city for restaurants/markets/bars/shopping and being so close to the dunes, the forest and the beach. We often swim in a dune lake 't Wed which is only 10 minutes by bike.

We love interior design and to make our house beautiful and comfortable; an ongoing project. We often have friends for dinner since we both enjoy cooking too.

We bought this house because it is right at the waterfront overlooking the water and the park. Nature everywhere you look and still so close to the lively city of Haarlem. And so close to the train station: only 15 minutes by train to Amsterdam or to beach in Zandvoort.
