Complete exterior renovation completed March 2023

Welcome to our home on North Captiva Island. Remote and undiscovered, North Captiva Island is accessible only by ferry, private boat or small plane. This private island community is reminiscent of old Florida as it once was during a simpler time. There are no cars, no paved roads and no traffic jams (unless a turtle is crossing the road), just golf carts and a slower more relaxed way of living.

Over 2300 sq ft w/4 bedrooms (2 king suites) 3.5 baths and beds for 10 people. All stays include the use of 1 golf cart with the option to rent a 2nd cart. The multi-level floor plan providers plenty of space for everyone to spread out, make themselves at home and not feel cramped. All bedrooms and full baths are on the 2nd level with common areas and a half bath located on the 3rd level. Club access to the Island Club for use of kayaks, paddle boards and bikes is also available.

Being that our home is independently managed we offer our guests a boutique travel experience, no unanswered phone calls, broken down golf carts or lost groceries. We take care of every aspect of your vacation to make it as relaxing and worry-free as possible.

Unlike so many vacation homes, we visit as much as possible so our home is just that, a home. We provide all the basics; paper towels, bath tissue, laundry detergent, soap, cooking supplies, spices, etc. Don't worry, you don't have to make that single roll of paper towels last all week! Our kitchen includes all the basic appliances and tools you need for the best family meals!

We have been coming to North Captiva for over 10 years now and I think this house was the best we ever had. The house was stocked with everything you need and more than expected really and the managing company was hands on and responsive. We really enjoyed it and we thank you for opportunity to stay there.

The house has a great outdoor shower, pool, hot tub, and views of the Gulf AND the bay. What could be better? Oh, I know! An ice cream maker...decent steak knives...comfortable beds....super responsive support staff....just great all around. Love Tina and this place.

Wonderful vacation

Beautiful house, perfect location, and probably the most responsive and helpful owners/mangers I have worked with at a Vrbo! We can't wait to return. The house has everything we needed and was less than 5 min to the beach. This is a special place.

Love this Island!

This was our 6th time to North Captiva. We in the past travel with our friends, adult children, and just my wife and I. All are special in there own way. Every trip we have stayed at a different property. We have found our favorite now. Looney Dunes is the best! It has everything you need inside and out. This trip was our adult children. There were 7 of us in total. Looney Dunes was perfect in every way. From the communication before the trip with Tina. Then Kale and his group on the island. It was perfect. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you Tina and Kale for making our family trip so special.

Great getaway!

The house is as advertised. Many great amenities. The kitchen had everything needed, and there were two grills. Seating was adequate and comfortable. The pool area was great. The installed fans helped keep the heat down during the day. Kid loved playing in the pool. The hot tub was nice as well. Beds were comfortable and bathroom s were adequate. The location, while not on the ocean is great. The golf carts provided were able to get us to the ocean in a couple minutes. I personally enjoy getting out and exploring. Likewise, the nature preserve is only a couple minutes away, although I wouldn’t recommend a long hike there, mid day in August, unless you enjoy melting. The owner and onsite manager were both very responsive and helpful. Power went out on the island for a while and the provided updates and offered us to transfer our refrigerator contents to another property if needed. Had a great stay and would return again!

Family Vacation

We had a wonderful time staying at the property. This was our second time as a family to the island. The house was perfect for the eight of us. Plenty of room for everyone. We loved the porch areas and having two golf carts. Kale was excellent with communication. The location was a perfect walk to the beach. The house had everything we needed. We will be back!

Excellent from start to finish!

This is truly a special place that feels like home and you’re treated like family. Every interaction was appreciated. Questions answered, island caretakers so helpful. We really enjoyed our time and are discussing our return. There were 6 of us, 3 generations. (Teenagers, parent, grandparents.) Home was super spacious, with so many comfy seating areas. The kitchen was wonderful with loads of counter space and every utensil you could possibly need. Beds comfy, everything spotless. Location was also great. Proximity to beaches, Mangos and the hiking trail. Views of the sunsets were the icing on the cake. Didn’t mention the pool, hot tub, ping pong, darts….!? And golf carts!! This entire island and property will absolutely bring you some joy, peace and serenity. ❤️

Great place!

It was our first time to North Captiva and we loved it! Sarah meet us off the ferry and was so helpful to show us the house. Kale stopped by during the week to clean the pool and was very friendly as well. Tina checked in on us after we arrived to make sure we had everything. We did!! The house was very clean and well stocked with anything we could need. It was the perfect house and location for our group of two families. Would recommend this house and amazing island to anyone.

Relaxing at the beach

The property is all you could ask for and more for a fabulous beach getaway. The property manager was fantastic with any questions and issues. My family enjoyed the pool and fast access to the beach. The house is equipped with chairs and everything needed for the day spent on the beach. Communication was great for information on groceries and fishing, thank you! Its a great place to stay on Upper Captiva and enjoy a stress free vacation. Thank you to the owner and manager for making it outstanding.

Looney Dunes

Beautiful house and property. Very clean and had everything we needed. Two refrigerators on main floor and an additional refrigerator at the pool deck came in very handy. We were traveling with a toddler and there are roll away baby gates at the tops of the stairs. The house is safe for young children. We used the pool every day and it was clean and refreshing. The hot tube was great as well. Kale, the on island property manager was very nice and attentive. He helped us with our baggage and even helped track down a lost bag on the island. Thank you for the great memories for our family trip!

Amazing!

Everything was amazing! Tina was very sweet and accommodating, and promptly answered all of my questions before the trip! Also, there was plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, spices, paper towels, etc. You will never run out of toiletries! Kale did a great job, as he is an excellent property manager. He was very diligent, kind, and helpful! He provided us with all of the pertinent information that we needed. The pictures do not do the house justice! The pool deck area was awesome, as we spent a lot of time out there! It was paradise! We cant wait to go back! It will be soon! Thank you Tina!😍

The entire experience was fantastic. I stayed at Looney Dunes last year with my family and decided that we had to come back this year. Tina, Becca, and Bill were very communicative and helpful about everything and the house itself was immaculate. The heated pool, games, coolers, beach equipment was perfect and our stay was very enjoyable. Will definitely look to be coming back!

Looney Dunes is amazing, the pictures don't do it justice. Absolutely beautiful and sits in a tropical forest!! House is bigger than expected and well thought out, pool and hot tub amazing!!! Becca and Tina great to work with and communicated with us the entire time. We had 9 in our family so the 2nd golf cart was very helpful to explore around the island. Loved north Captiva and highly recommend Looney Dunes for the perfect island getaway!!

Looney Dunes for Family Fun!

Our extended family of 11 spent a week (almost) at Looney Dunes from 5/28 -6/4. This was our first trip to North Captiva and I was a little anxious about all the logistical planning of getting to the island, having groceries delivered, etc and honestly, everything went perfectly upon our arrival. We were met at the dock when we arrived by Becca, who transported all of our luggage and gave us a brief orientation of the property. The house is amazing! I can't think of a thing that wasn't provided by Tina, the homeowner. The ground floor is the pool and hot tub area, which we used a lot! That hot tub felt great after a long day of traveling. There are lots of places to hangout on the ground level and a cute little tiki bar, right inside is a cabinet with a lot of beach towels and some sunscreen. The beach chairs and umbrellas were very nice and plentiful. Moving up to the second floor, that's where all the bedrooms/bathrooms and laundry room are. All are very nicely decorated and comfortable. There is a wraparound deck that includes a clothesline for wet bathing suits, and a hanging chair that was great for reading. The 3rd floor was the kitchen/living area with an awesome screened in porch area with access to another wraparound balcony and also access to a crow's nest. I can't say enough superlatives about the perfectly stocked kitchen. The 2 refrigerators were very handy. There's a half bath right off the kitchen. It was a very short golf cart drive to the beach, which was gorgeous. We spent a lot of time there and made sure to visit each night for those gorgeous sunsets! We did have to make a midweek grocery order for a few things we underestimated we would need. We used Elite Grocery Service, Brian Moistner was super helpful and quick to get our groceries to us the same day I texted him! We had to leave a day early due to Tropical Storm Alex, which couldn't be avoided. Both Becca and Tina assisted me in staying advised of the impending situation and helped us make the correct informed decision. All in all, it was a perfect time spent with family. I loved the fact that there were no putt-putts, no arcades, no water parks or Alvin's Islands, just nature, shells and beautiful sunsets. I would highly recommend this property!

Fun for all in an idyllic family week in North Captiva

This house was beautifully appointed and supplied with just about everything we needed or wanted from beach chairs to pool toys to cooking utensils. There were lots of games around, which both adults and children enjoyed, plenty of TV screens and reliable internet. The screen porch was a great asset and the hot tub made time at the pool even more fun. Tina, the owner, was very accessible and attentive before our trip and during our stay. Yvena and her team locally transported us to and from the ferry and made sure we had what we needed. We loved the house and would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful House & relaxing stay

Our group had a great time at Looney Dunes. The house was very comfortable and roomy. It had everything we needed. Tina & Yvena were very responsive and any issues were quickly resolved. The pool was so nice! Thanks for a great vacation!

The house was beautifully appointed, no need left unmet. Even better than the pictures and reviews led us to believe. My family is begging to go back - we were able to just relax and enjoy because our every need was met by the well stocked and lovely home.

Amazing time in a special place!

We had an amazing time at Looney Dunes for the week! The house was excellent, just as described!! We loved the location on the island, super easy to get everywhere. The grounds are very well kept and the pool is large for the island! The hot tub was super nice too since it was a little chilly a few days, but the pool was heated nicely so we could still always use it. The 3rd floor patio was amazing, the views were incredible and we enjoyed just relaxing and having fun as a family! Inside the house is super nice, and having two fridges upstairs was pretty nice, and super nice to have one by the pool! The kitchen had everything you need, beds were great, plenty of towels and beach towels, all of which were high quality. Tina was super responsive, as was Yvena. We would certainly stay here again!!

Perfect family vacation home

Home is clean and extremely well-appointed, owner and host were very helpful with questions and detail-oriented, which made our first trip to North Captiva a success. We travelled with small children and they had a wonderful week. The screened-in lenai was especially nice for outdoor meals and relaxation.

Looney Dunes ROCKS!

Our experience with Tina and with Becca was excellent! The house was wonderful, clean, and well equipped. When we had any questions, Becca immediately responded and helped us out. We look forward to returning to the island later this year and look forward to staying here again. Great experience, great weather, and great times with the family

Looney Dunes

Looney Dunes is a clean, updated and very well-maintained property. We didn't want to leave! The kitchen is fully stocked (we cooked for 9-10 people, 3x a day) so we had everything we needed. The wifi connection was great. The pool and hot tub areas are a delight. It was wonderful to have two refrigerators. The lanai/kitchen/living/dining area is just beautiful. The house manager, Becca was very responsive and Tina, the homeowner was very communicative. Any questions we had were responded to right away. We would definitely return to Looney Dunes!! Highly recommend it.
