Jane, I am sorry you had difficulty locking the front door. The type of door locks that have the lift up handle are actually used in the USA also, but perhaps you have never come across them. They are a much sturdier lock as the mechanism goes all the way to the floor and to the top of the door making the property much more secure. I’m glad we were able to figure it out quickly once you messaged me. This is the first time I have had an issue with someone not knowing that, so I will make a point of mentioning it in the welcome letter for future guests, just in case. You received a considerably reduced price than it should have been due to a mix up being as Edale is a new listening on VRBO, my loss was your gain. Edale is listed on another short-term rental site where it has 20 reviews, all 5 star. Because my outcome is to always provide a 5-star experience for my guests I extended your checkout time by 8 hours at no charge as you had a later flight back to North America, and I also refunded you partial payment for any inconvenience. I am disappointed you felt Edale and my hosting only warranted a 4-star review as the property is expensive to run and this will drastically affect the income on it. I will continue to make every effort to do better in future.
