Ida-way Cottage, located in the sleepy, fishing village of Cherokee Sound on the island of Abaco. Slow and tranquil, a great place to unwind and escape. A few minutes walk to the iconic Long Dock, beautiful beaches for swimming and shelling, bonefishing flats for the fly fishing enthusiast. Two kayaks included, 235lb max weight. BBQ grill and beach chairs. Separate office space for great workaction spot. Within walking distance, grocery store, coffee shop and deli, shell museum, harbour and gas station. Some local take away food options, info available on request. We are a 35min drive south of Marsh Harbour (airport, ferries to outer cays, large grocery store and liquor store.) 10min drive to Pete's Pub & Gallery. Remote area. Rental car advised. We do not accept rentals over 14 days. Security camera at pergola entrance armed only for guests arrival and departure to monitor check in and check out when host is unavailable.

House had everything we could want and Danette was the most attentive host Iā€™ve ever had. She made sure we were aware of a short electric outage and the house was completely supplied with flashlights and battery operated lanterns for an outage. She also kept us informed of special food options in the area

Danette was VERY responsive and helpful.Our rental car had a flat tire and she found a place in Cherokee for us to air it up.House was great, I worked in the office using Starlink and took breaks on the beach. The Long Dock is Short Walk! Would definitely stay here again.Thank you Danette!

Great stay in a Fantastic loctation!

Great place to stay in Cherokee Sound in Abaco. Excellent location in a great small community. Rental has everything you need for your stay. Well maintained and clean. Danette was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. Location is beautiful with the beach and Long Dock a minutes walk away. People were very nice and welcoming. From fresh tomatoes and bananas from the neighbor it was a great stay. With the Cherokee Food Fair and Bakery right there you can be self sufficient. Groceries to meals everything was great and the deserts were fantastic. Highly recommend this location for your stay. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Wonderful second honeymoon getaway

Host was extremely informative about where to go to eat and where to find the best shells! Good information about the local area and beaches, the tides. Bed was super comfy. Plenty of beach towels and bathing towels provided. Clean and comfortable. Easy check out process. Locals were kind and informative. Good local grocery within walking distance. Quiet local community and not far from the airport; 30 minute drive.

Cozy home in paradise

I celebrated my 40th birthday with a few friends and the location was ideal for relaxation and a little adventure. A nice quiet neighborhood in one of the prettiest parts of Abaco. The house is surrounded by beautiful flowers and landscaping. The house is cozy inside and has all amenities that I needed.

Great Stay

We had great communication with Danette before our arrival and during our stay. The house was clean and very stocked. Beach equipment, beach towels and kayaks. A five minute walk to the Long Dock. About 20 minutes to Petes Pub. A five minute drive to a beautiful beach.

Cherokee Sound Community

Spent 9 nights in the uniquely secluded village of Cherokee Sound. Danette was a great host!! Communication was very good and she checked in with us multiple times through the week. Everything we needed was available. A/C was a big plus. Were in Abacos with a friend Bonefishing and Danetteā€™s place was perfect for group of 2-4 fishing buddies. Will stay here again if we are back in Abacos. Thanks for helping make it a great trip.

Amazing Place

Our stay at Island Cottage was amazing. We were looking for a quiet place to reconnect as a family and the location provided just that. The house was immaculate and exactly as described. The kids really enjoyed their own space in the spacious loft. The kitchen is well equipped and provided for some great family meals. The close location to the beach and the dock was ideal. The blue water and white sand was amazing. Thanks to the limited illumination at night the dock was a great location for star gazing. Danette, the host, was truly responsive and offered some great recommendations. The local grocery store is well stocked and truly convenient. We would definitely stay again. Eric

Fantastic experience

Firstly, I must say that this was one of the nicest rentals that we have stayed in. The home was spotless, immaculate, and incredibly well provisioned. Extremely spacious and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the host provided us with everything that you could possibly need, from beach chairs to towels to condiments to laundry soap, washer and dryer, grill etcā€¦. We felt like we were at home!!! A short walk to an incredible beach. This house sits amongst a very quaint and friendly town, we felt very safe and very welcomed here. We will absolutely be back to Abaco and this will be our number 1 pick!!! The host even let us check out later than normal and was so accommodating to our every single need. Tremendous trip because of our stay here!!!

Peaceful and relaxing

This cottage is so comfortable. Beautiful floors, clean and inviting. We are picky, rarely sleep well away. But with the comfort of the beds, we slept 12 hours straight the first night! Very comfortable, even My Pillow sheets. It was well supplied with spices, though we were glad to we brought salt. šŸ˜† The upstairs worked out perfect for our group and the beds were great too. Oven worked well, huge washer and dryer. Just a short walk to the beach and Long Dock... breathtaking! Host communicated well and quickly. Thank you for sharing your place!

Abaco visit

Enjoyed our stay. Cottage very clean and well appointed. *Initially it took 3 days, to find a shorter access route, not through the narrow roads/cabins. Turn left, by sign saying Car Park. Follow short distanceā€¦property on RHS painted blue. Peteā€™s Pub and Art Galleryā€¦ good food and ambienceā€¦only open a few days weekly and closes early. Really enjoyed our stay there - just be aware - stairs steep for children and low headroom for taller people upstairs. Caveat: Kitchen/lounge has a glass internal window (curtained on other side) presumably to the attached ownerā€™s accommodation. Curtain/screenā€¦ needs to be in Guest side, All else was lovely šŸ˜Š

Love this house & location!

The house is as I expected and we were very happy to find it so. The attic is wonderfully set up with 3 beds, extra room and window seats! Great for the kids who also enjoyed the selection of book. The offi e was great for privacy and even has a couch and chair. I used the desk top for a puzzle...closet has a couple puzzles, monopoly and cards which we used all of. Linens were sufficient with extra plus quilts for lounging. The washer and dryer were a nice bonus! Thr house was immaculately cleaned. Kitchen was well supplied also with condiments. We enjoyed some steaks cooked on the grill. We actually didn't have time to use the kayaks which is why we picked this place! Lol There are two stores, one with gasoline. We didn't make the sea shell museum-call in advance to schedule. Quiet town and nice walking to stores and beach. Highlight of our stay was Long Dock!! And there is a beach area too. We found many empty conch and seashells. People all over the island were friendly. Watch for potholes tho!! Definitely a 5 Star vacation!!

Perfect Fit.

House was in immaculate condition when we arrived. For us, a couple, plenty of room. We thought overall, good value for what it rents for. We had to reschedule our rental from the Fall until April due to an unexpected (kidney stones) medical issue with me. The owner had no issue with changing our dates, although it was fairly short notice. That's unlike the expierence we had during Covid with a house we lost money on because of travel restrictions at the time. One of the reasons we rented this house was due to it being so close to the Cherokee flats. Its not directly on them, but a very short walk away. Many days my wife would set up on the beach there and watch me thrash around unsuccessfully on the flats trying to catch a Bonefish. She has observed this scene many times over the years and is quite used to it by now. Thats another great point concerning this house if you rent it. Even if you don't fish, the Cherokee flats are beautiful. And there are a couple of nice beaches right on them. The town of Cherokee itself is pretty cool. The people seem laid back and friendly. Well kept small town, and there is a small store, which is an advantage. No beer or wine there, though. Lastly, Petes Pub is only four miles from Cherokee. Petes is my favorite (and my wife's) place to go to on Abaco. To have it so close to the house was a nice bonus.

The perfect place in Cherokee!

Had a grand time in Danette's beautiful rental. She is a very responsive and helpful host. Conveniently located very close to the parking lot and a short stroll to the beach! Room for everyone with a great den/office for working or seeking quiet time to yourself. Short drive to Pete's Pub for lunch! I will be back!
