Gorgeous Views, Great Location

We had a wonderful mini family reunion with children and grandchildren to the location where we grew up. York Harbor beach hasn’t changed - and the kids had a ball. Wonderfully relaxing time creating lots of new memories. Spectacular views, beautiful home, walking distance to Wiggly Bridge, York Harbor Inn, and lots of familiar surroundings. Our host was exceptionally responsive and accommodating.

Post Wedding Celebration

We came to York after our sons wedding in Boston. It was the perfect post wedding week with friends. House was great. Location was superb . Couldn’t have asked for a better experience

Amazing property, amazing location! We had a wonderful week with family at Overbank Cottage. The house has tons of space and everything you could want or need for a week away. The yard is beautifully landscaped and the view of the beach can’t be beat. We loved having our morning coffees outside…..so relaxing. The beach is only steps away and so easy to access. Since we all came from out of town, we appreciated the beach chairs and towels available with the house. We also loved being able to cookout and prepare some meals in the spacious kitchen. Perfect place for our family to relax and enjoy our time together. We hope to visit again some time in the future. Thank you Patrick for being a responsive and accommodating host!

Great house

Beautiful views from house and garden. Very clean. Some damage to furniture and floors but nicely decorated and overall very good condition for a rental. Kitchen and baths recently renovated. Huge kitchen, and multiple gathering areas. Comfortably accommodated 3 generation family of 14. The house is directly across the street from a lovely park on the cliff above the beach with an easy path leading down to the beach. Very limited street parking so beach not crowded and clean. Big, beautifully landscaped garden great for young kids.

Perfect Thanksgiving Celebration

This home provided us with the opportunity to host a most memorable Thanksgiving with friends and family! The outstanding layout and amenities of the kitchen, the spacious dining room, multiple sitting rooms with gas fireplaces, and a great layout of the bedroom made the house truly felt like a home! The wonderful proximity to the beach and cliff walk was so convenient for everyone to get out for walks and excursions. We would welcome the opportunity of returning in the future!

Incredible property

This was my family’s second stay at Overbank and it was as magical as we remembered. This first time we rented the house for our wedding at the Reading Room back in 2015, then we came back last week to celebrate my Dad’s 70th birthday, this time with my 9 month old infant. The house has everything you could ever need and the view is just stunning. It’s hard to describe in words how special this place is. Just book it, you won’t regret it!

Wonderful stay in York Harbor

We had a wonderful week at this property in York Harbor in July 2021. The house is beautiful and has amazing grounds and gardens with a view of the ocean. The house has a classic, clean feel to it with an amazing updated kitchen and updated bathrooms (there are 4 full bathrooms upstairs!). We loved hearing the waves while going to bed each night. The location is great - right in York Harbor. We did carry-out for dinner several times from the York Harbor Inn, which is just a couple of doors down. Patrick was very responsive to any questions we had. We only wish our stay could have been longer!

Wonderful house and views

We spent a recent long weekend at Overlook and we were thrilled with our visit and with this remarkable house. Jen welcomed us with a good introduction to the house which was clean, tidy and remarkably roomy. The dinning room was absolutely lovely—spacious, nicely proportioned, large windows and a fireplace. Fourteen of us sat around the large table quite comfortably. Our little girls had their own table all to themselves. The kitchen, though small, was warm and congenial and a hub of activity for breakfast stragglers throughout the morning. The garden was an unexpected joy, with chairs scattered in several areas, all with a view of the beach and a vast ocean horizon. It was lovely. Since it was October it was not bikini weather but the beach was still a fun place to be. The grown-ups played bocce and the little ones were digging to China. We look forward to returning to this comfortable house in the future and enjoying all of its delights.

Mainemories...

This was my family's third stay at Overbank. We absolutely love, love , love it. If you are looking for a place to vacation or have an event, look no further. At Overbank you will listen as your kids giggle, buckets in hand, as they race toward the ocean (which is just a short walk.) Catch up with family and friends around the fire pit and enjoy the most amazing views. At night leave that flat screen TV off and play cards for salt water taffy. When you finally end your day, the sound of the waves crashing will lull you into the most relaxing sleep you've ever experienced. I should warn you that something happens on that first full day. You will notice that you are walking a little slower, and breathing a little easier. The rushing stops. The stress fades. You are able to fully and completely enjoy time with family & friends. To Skip (the owner) & Jen (caretaker) you are two amazing people. Your love of Overbank is seen in every detail you offer. From the beach chairs and boogy boards to the fine dining dishes and stemware.; From the smell of freshly laundered sheets to the perfectly folded towels laid out on each and every bed. Thank you for taking the time to make each of our stays so memorable. We are truly blessed to be able to make Mainemories (as my daughters calls them) at such a wonderful home.

House on the hill

Perfect!!

This is the perfect Maine beachside getaway for family and friends to make incredible memories! We absolutely loved this house—the pictures can’t do it justice. Tons of space for everyone and wonderful charm. The views are extraordinary! Patrick is responsive and friendly. We will definitely be back and already counting the days!

Beautiful Bridal Shower

Property was well appointed, clean and felt like a home away from home to us! Very walk accessible to the beach, cliff walk and a few bars & dining options! Cannot say enough about the views from their beautiful backyard. Despite the weather & cold temperatures the yard was lush with green & budding colors. When the fog rolled in, we could hear the waves crashing - just a beautiful spot for our daughters Bridal Shower - beautiful spot in general. House was warm and great for entertaining!

Thanksgiving 2021

The perfect location and house for our extended families to enjoy Thanksgiving. We have used VRBO all along the east coast but never had such a thoughtful owner who made every effort to make sure our stay was comfortable. Our four day holiday was enjoyed in this beautiful home with the large kitchen, family room and many, many bedrooms.

Perfect Maine getaway

A group of friends ( 4 couples ) spent a week at this magical Maine property. The location was ideal , the grounds were gorgeous , the house was so spacious, so much to see & do in the surrounding area, and Patrick was outstanding. He was so communicative & accommodating and willing to help us with any thing we needed. We highly recommend this secret gem !!! Can’t wait to come back !!! Thank you for a memorable week in Maine !

November friends weekend!!

Fabulous house overlooking York Harbor. We were a group of ten. The house was just fabulous. Sitting rooms, spacious dining room and 3 sitting rooms. So much space! 2 refrigerators and well stocked supplies in the kitchen. We had a spectacular time!!

Great Again

This is the 4th time we've had our bi-annual family reunion at Overbank Above the Beach. Every time we return we have to balance doing all the things we love with adding in new adventures. The house and property are lovely and equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. So, we keep coming back!

This is a special place.

Overbank Cottage is incredible. The views of York Harbor are second to none and you can enjoy them from (almost) every room in the home. My family stayed here in April for an off-season Spring Break and it exceeded our expectations. The home is spacious, but charming. Our days were spent walking along the Cliff Walk and York Harbor Beach (both directly across the street) as well as enjoying the views of the Harbor from the fire pit in the front yard. Down time was spent reading in the library or playing board games as a family in the sun room. This house is a special place.

GORGEOUS COASTAL MAINE HOME - PERFECT FOR LARGE GROUPS

We have rented this beautiful home for the past three years for our multi-family Christmas/New Year's gathering. We can't wait to return again next year! This house is perfect for large groups - it is enormous. The 6 bedrooms upstairs are all very comfortable and spread out so no in our group ever feels cramped. There are always plenty of towels, linens and blankets. The main floor has multiple rooms for relaxing and entertaining. The dining room and living room are our two favorite spots as they are very spacious and bright and have beautiful views of the beach. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for cooking and there is never a shortage of plates, cups or silverware. The location is amazing. We enjoy daily walks down to the beach directly across the street (we can only imagine how awesome it would be during the summer months) as well as frequent trips up the road to walk along York Beach and visit the lighthouse. The York Harbor Inn is right next door and we LOVE the quaint little bar. Skip (home owner) and his son Patrick (property manager) are fantastic. They are very responsive and go out of their way to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. It is very apparent that they love their gorgeous coastal Maine home and enjoy sharing this special spot with their tenants. Our annual stay at Overbank has become one of our family's favorite weeks of the year. We feel so lucky to have found this home!

The view, the home everything was amazing. We felt at “home” in this lovely family estate.

We rented overbank because our wedding venue was across the street at the York Harbor Reading Room. The house was a perfect fit for our family. We checked in on a Wednesday so we could enjoy the home before and after our wedding. We had our rehearsal dinner on the front lawn with the view of the ocean. Our friends and family were in awe. It is a magical home. The family is accommodating and very responsive. Patrick was so helpful with my numerous requests I made to see the house just “one more time”. To providing us with detailed information from his rehearsal dinner, so that ours would run as smoothly as his. I cannot say enough about this home. We will be back again! Thank you Gault family!!

Stunning, ocean-side, historical house perfect for wedding party!

We rented the Overbank House for our wedding at the York Harbor Reading Room on 9/15/2018. The house was truly the "glue" that connected all the wedding events: (rehearsal dinner at fosters, wedding at YHRR, and brunch at Overbank on Sunday). During the wedding day, there was enough space for the girls (6 bridesmaids) to get their hair done and dresses on in the master BR area, the boys to press their shirts in the massive hallway, and the boys (and Dads) to play football and croquet on the yard. There are tons of lawn games including corn hole and croquet for folks to play on the property. There is also a firepit and adirondack chair circle for s'mores at night time. The most awesome part of the property is its proximity to York Harbor Beach. You can literally walk there in five minutes and most rooms have views of the ocean. In regards to the house, the rooms are all airy and light with a great historic feel. The actual house is gorgeous late 19th century with huge windows and high ceilings. The hosts have decorated in a way that makes you feel at home (nothing is too precious or too fancy to sit on). There are great social spaces including a sun room, a library, a huge dining room that seats 12, massive living room, butlers pantry (that was the hit of our brunch), and kitchen. Even with 16 people staying in the house, you never felt crowded. As stated above, we somehow managed to sleep 16 folks there over the weekend of the wedding. The beds were great. The bedrooms are well sized. The bathrooms are charmingly antique (but super functional). We would rent this house again in a heartbeat. In many ways, I consider the house part of our wedding party. We have such great memories from staying there and cannot recommend it highly enough (both for party weekends or family rentals).

A magical week!

I can't say enough for our week at Overbank. The house is beautiful and the vast yard was a perfect fit for our group, which included 5 young children. Between the yard and the beach across the street you never even have to leave. We can't wait to plan our next visit!
