Coastal Charm Awaits: Your Perfect Seaside Getaway - Walk to York Harbor Beach!

The Whiting Cottage is your quintessential “classic Maine cottage.” Built in 1880, it is full of charm and ornate detail with lots and lots of room.


2-3 night minimum September to late June.
Sunday to Sunday, 7 day rental late June thru Labor Day.


It’s perfect for hosting families, friends, company outings, as well as your unique special event - with 8 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, 5 living rooms, 3 kitchens, 1 kitchenette, there is plenty of space to spread out, or to be together! Classic large kitchen area to have those large gatherings around the table….let the memories begin! The entire home has the capability to split into 4 separate units, so would be perfect for families and friends to come together or have their own separate space.


The balcony is one of the best spots in the house to sit and relax and breathe the fresh salty air (we might be biased), accompanied by a large deck and huge front farmers porch (perfect for relaxing and watching the world go by!)! No worries about parking, there is plenty! Whether you are here to vacation, a romantic getaway, or attending a wedding, corporate event, family reunions, or whatever it may be, the Whiting Cottage is waiting for you - Be Our Guest!


We offer high-speed wireless internet access and have 3 Smart TV's where you can stream any of your favorites: Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney+, etc! There is no cable.


Updated kitchen appliances and washer + dryer!


Leave your car in the driveway…walk to the beach!
Walk across the street and you will find the Cliff Walk - where you can have the best walk to the beach or do it for the bold views of the Atlantic Ocean! Catch the Fishermans walk starting at York Harbor Beach, follow it to the Wiggly Bridge, and walk over the Rte.103 bridge will land you at The Deck and Dockside!

Our children were looking for a place to celebrate our 50 th Anniversary, that we all could stay for a long weekend. They found this house and it was great! The host Mark was fantastic. Mark found out it was our 50 th anniversary and when we opened the door there was two bottles of sparkling cider and a very nice card waiting for us, he also had a welcome basket with all kinds of little snacks from Maine! The house was very organized and very clean! You will not find a better place to rent! Thanks Mark!

The Whiting Cottage is clean, well equipped, extremely comfortable. I would stay here again without a doubt.... great location for quick beach access and local eats. Perfect for a family getaway or gathering with friends. It is an amazing stay and as good, if not better than advertised!

Fantastic Stay

We rented the house for a week - Mark was incredibly helpful and responsive both pre and during our visit. The house is in a great location - walk to town and beaches - and is perfect inside and out for a family get together. We highly recommend Whiting Cottage!

Tons of room

Very convenient space next to gorgeous beaches and a breathtaking cliff walk. What we loved most was spending time together at the house and in the yard.

The perfect spot for a fall weekend away!

This property is amazing! It is way bigger in person and accommodates large groups or even smaller groups who each want their own bedroom and bathroom. The house is a quick walk to the gorgeous Cliff Walk. We spent Saturday in Portsmouth for a girls shopping weekend York was the perfect place to call home for a few days. Highly recommend!

Amazing Hospitality

Could not have asked for a better experience staying at the Whiting Cottage for a friends weekend in York. Mark and his family were extremely accommodating and communicative throughout our stay. The property is perfect for large parties, with multiple bathrooms, sitting areas, and kitchens throughout the house. I absolutely would recommend this property for any other large groups and would love to stay here again.

Great house - so big with many different living spaces. Good for if you need some privacy, even from those you're staying with! There's also plenty of room in the kitchen, dining room, and multiple living spaces where you can spend time together!

Wonderful location and house!!

We were a group of 8 adults and 4 children under 5 - this house was perfect for us! Each family had their own space. The house was very clean and ready for us upon arrival. Mark and Lauren (owners) met us upon arrival, we’re extremely helpful and accommodating and VERY responsive. They even helped with suggestions on things to do and places to go. We had a wonderful trip and highly reccomend this property!

This property was even better than we imagined! It was so clean, the owners were amazing, very communicative and helpful:) We all had our own space so we could take private moments as well as bond and congregate in the main living room/kitchen/dining areas/porches etc. The house is also very conveniently located. Mark was a great host! Very informative at the start of our 4 day stay that greatly assisted us and our whole crew throughout the weekend. The house is HUGE! A must stay!

There aren’t the words to properly express our gratitude for this weekend’s stay. Everything was perfect. The host and his family went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even brought us flowers. The house and the grounds are something out of a movie, and it perfectly fits a large group. We had a dinner party on the front porch one night, highly recommend!

I do not have enough kind words to say about Mark and the team at Whiting Cottage. He was the most amazing host: communicative, friendly, and helpful! He truly went above and beyond. The property was equally as incredible. It was clean, had everything you needed for a beach weekend and family gathering, and was so spacious that each family we were with had their own room. This was particularly helpful for those of us traveling with babies who used the rooms with the kitchenettes to make and store bottles, etc. We absolutely loved our stay at the Whiting Cottage and hope to visit again soon!!

Spectacular York Harbor vacation!

Every year I bring 15 close family members to York for a week in Jul,. A collection of children and adults, and I am the host. The Whiting Cottage was just perfect! The owners/ hosts were amazingly accessible, considerate and made my whole family feel at home, and the house had plenty of space for everyone to be together or spread out. We are sad to be back home already!!!

The Best Family Ever Summer Vacation Reunion

The Whiting Cottage was perfect to accommodate our family of 18! Grandma, Grandpa, our three children and their spouses , our 8 grandchildren and grandson in law and friend. The Clambake at the house from Southern Maine Lobster was wonderful and the highlight of week! Plus Marks delicious surprise to finish our fabulous week!

Awesome property, great hospitality

We came to this house for 2 days of work as a leadership team. The house was a perfect spot to think and be free from distractions. It's clean and works well for large groups. It's wild how many people it can sleep; all the beds are super comfortable! The family who owns it is welcoming and kind. They gave us great dinner recs, helped us immediately with questions and were available if we needed them. Wonderful hosts - we will be back!

Lovely large home which accommodated all 15 of us. Plenty of room to be together or spread out on our own. Very nice front porch even on a rainy day. Great beaches close by to enjoy. The memories we made will be treasured by all of us forever. Mark the host was a pleasure to speak to an answered any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this rental. Ella

This is our family's venture!
Our roots are from various parts of New England; from Woburn and Arlington, Massachusetts, Hamden, Connecticut, and Dover, New Hampshire, we all made our way to beautiful York, Maine. Our individual paths crossed over the years and we have collectively all been residents of York, Maine for over 30 years. Erin, Mike and Mark have served the public in a variety of ways including the fields of education, law enforcement, and the medical profession. Lauren (owner of The Opal Society), Thomas (co-owner of Southern Maine Lobster Company), and Anna (owner of Anna Grace Design) are all local entrepreneurs and their expertise and services include cosmetology, graphic design and the lobster industry.

We are hard-working people that value family and the relationships with our friends. Over the years, and through life experiences, we have been fortunate to come to understand and appreciate the gifts of humility and gratitude.

We purchased the Whiting Cottage in January 2022. After many hours of hard work, tough decisions, and difficult times we stand on our feet today very proud of our accomplishment. The amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into restoring and “shining up” the property has all been worth it. Knowing this, it was an easy decision for us to want to share its historic charm, elegance, and allure; it is truly timeless. It is our honor to have you as our guests at the Whiting Cottage while you “experience” York with all its history and beauty.
We are vested in this property and take great pride in being able to share it with you.

Please take this opportunity to enjoy this home, the local environment, and the serenity; but most importantly, we respectfully suggest that you do your best to put “work” on hold as you relax and enjoy each other's company.
