This spacious three bedroom getaway is a perfect home away from home. Nestled in the Western North Carolina Mountains, the property borders the Nantahala National Forest and is just minutes from the back country trails at Standing Indian and multiple Appalachian Trail access points.
Enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea while swinging on the front porch. Create a delicious meal in a fully-equipped kitchen or barbeque on the back deck. Soak in a large tub after a vigorous hike on one of many nearby trails. Warm yourself by a cozy fire while relaxing on a comfortable couch. Or take in the view of the Nantahala Mountains from the spacious sunroom.
Both bedrooms upstairs can be arranged as one king bed or two twin beds. There is an additional trundle bed (2 twins) in upstairs lounge area.
Come explore the beautiful scenic by-ways, hike and bike numerous trails of all abilities, meander into a neighboring small mountain town (Franklin, NC/Hayesville, NC) for local festivals and breweries. Within minutes of Standing Indian, this house is ideal for those seeking to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature while resting in a private and comfortable setting. With a large fenced-in backyard, this house is suitable for dogs.
Please note that while this home does not receive cell service, we do have satellite internet as well as a land line. Internet service may not be conducive for working online.

Beautiful house and property in a great location. Very close to some great hikes, we visited the farm across the street everyday to see the animals which my young daughter loved. Truly relaxing get away and the house met all our needs and beyond. Highly recommend. I hope to come back again some day.

Perfect location

Our stay at the Gooseberry House was wonderful. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. We love the area and have visited many times. We plan to stay at the Gooseberry House again.

Home away from home

The Gooseberry house is so comfortable and the location is wonderful in the woods. The beds are comfy and all the furnishings make it feel like home. A super place to rest and enjoy family!!

Beautiful snd comfortable home

We had another wonderful stay - our 4th. The rooms in the house are all spacious and comfortable. This year - and I don't know why I didn't do this sooner - I had my morning coffee on the front porch. Because of all the trees surrounding the property, the porch was cool even though it was a very hot July weekend. I alsays feel so rested and decompressed when I stay.

Beautiful and cozy home

A beautiful home that was filled with lots of love. Our family enjoyed our weekend stay. About ten minutes to downtown Franklin and very easy to get to. Absolutely loved the house. Very kid friendly and hope to return soon.

Big comfortable home

Very nice home. Has everything we need (except cell service) but the Wi-Fi is good. Love the front porch and the fenced yard for our dogs. We hope to be back next year.

Feels like home

This is our 2nd year staying at Gooseberry House. It is very comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked and I love all the cute coffee cups. All the trees surrounding the house give you a feeling of cool seclusion. Staying here is becoming a family tradition.

Franklin in the Fall

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Gooseberry House! -Everything was great! We wish we could have stayed longer. There is so much to do in and around Franklin and we ran out of time. The location of the house provided us the perfect Fall adventure. The house had everything we needed. We hope to come back to visit again soon!

Bridal party weekend

The Gooseberry house was more than perfect for me and my bridal party to relax, and get ready in. Robyn was most helpful and pleasant in ensuring we had an excellent and successful weekend. She was very accommodating and quick in responding with all questions. I highly recommend Gooseberry!

Fantastic

We have stayed at the Gooseberry house before and will continue to do so. Its fabulous! Very clean, comfortable beds, all the kitchenware you could possibly need, great all weather room. The satellite based internet does the job and if you're a hiker, then you're in your mecca.

Like being home

This was our 3rd year staying at Gooseberry House and it is still a wonderful place to call home for just a little while. The house is clean and comfortable, as always. The new deck looks fabulous! (Rained so we couldn't use it but everyone said it looks great - very impressed.) We will be renting again next year.

Cozy and spacious for family and puppy

We had a wonderful time. It was very cozy, yet spacious for the family and puppies. The fenced area was a life saver! I wish we would have brought a few of our own DVDs to watch due to the wifi speed. There were lots of DVDs available at the property, but not appealing to teenagers ;) The location was convenient to Franklin,Haysville,Sylva,Cherokee and Bryson City. We would recommend staying here and hope to do so again in the future.

Breathtakingly Beautiful

Absolutely amazing home. It was beautiful and plenty spacious for all 8 guests. We loved the views the property offered and the location gave us exactly what we were looking for. Lots of fantastic recommendations in the book upon arrival. Kitchen had plenty of local spices to use and we loved the environmentally friendly products throughout the home. Everybody in the group was talking about coming back! We'd probably bring an air mattress for the 8th guest though. The trundle situation for adults was a little rough, haha. Overall, incredible stay. I wish I could spend every morning deciding between that perfect porch or amazing sunroom.

Tranquil retreat

Communications with Robyn was very responsive and extremely accommodating. Last minute changes in travel plans required initial contact with Robyn late in the evening the night before requested check in with Robyn quickly responding and working on a solution to allow us to check in that following day. She even had her husband drop by early morning of check in to blow leaves off driveway, decks and outdoor areas. Home is extremely clean, very well maintained and equipped with everything one could possibly need to enjoy both the beautiful home and surrounding area. The secured fenced in yard provides such peace of mind for those with small children or dogs. Thank you for sharing your well loved home, we are so very grateful and look forward to visiting again many more times.

A Beautiful place to get away from it all

We loved our stay at Gooseberry house. The place was clean and spacious. The satellite internet was very spotty but we didnt mind. We were up there to relax and did just that. At first it was a little scary not having cell service, but there is a house phone in case of emeregencies. There is no cable, just a smart tv to login your streaming services, but due to the spotty internet I do recommend bringing some DVDs to have something to watch. We brought our dog with us and she loved the yard. So many things to sniff and lots of room to run. The dog also loved running around the 1st. floor with so much room to play with her toys. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to prepare meals and the sunroom is a great place to watch the sunrise over the mountains while enjoying a cup of coffee. We will defintely be back

Beautiful house

All the rooms are large and comfortable. The beds were heaven, it was hard to drag myself out of all that comfort in the morning. The kitchen is huge, plenty big enough for multiple cooks. Everything you need is there. I want to mention too that the property manager, Robyn, is amazing! She was quick to respond to my texts, and even responded on Thanksgiving evening. We enjoyed our stay very much!
