Nestled by the babbling Blackwater River and 100 yards from the banks of Pleasant Lake, the Dam Cottage is located in the heart of the quaint Elkins Village. In its 100-year history, the cottage was a mill, the Scytheville Post Office, and a flower shop. Now it is a cozy retreat and a perfect base for your next ski trip, or for swimming, boating, or taking in the sunset. The cottage is a short drive from Ragged, Sunapee, and Pats Peak Mountains, and a short walk to the beach and boat put-in. The cottage itself is bright and clean and ready to host your next getaway. What a stunner of a sunset! We're glad you enjoyed your time by the lake. We recently made a few little upgrades to the outdoor lounge area. New, colorful runners and side tables will hopefully encourage you to relax, enjoy some apps, and take in the sunset! Thank you for staying at the cottage!

It’s a lovely place, peaceful and well located: an easy walk to the lake and a short drive into town. Also: about a half mile down the street (driving away from the lake) is a Stop ‘n Go with GREAT soft serve ice cream. The apartment feels spacious: the kitchen is well equipped and easy to use and the living room is a great place to relax. Finally, Steph was a wonderful and attentive host. Ideal!

This cabin was very pleasant. Very roomy and full equipped kitchen. Coffee, mugs and all. The beds were so comfortable and having a washer and dryer made it convenient. They even had laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful!!

Very comfortable accommodations and the little extras were a nice surprise. Cupboards were stocked with coffee and tea, olive oil, spices, ziplock bags and aluminum foil. Things that you might need once or twice during your stay but forget to buy or bring. The host responded quickly to communication both before and during our stay. There was a mix-up with towels that was quickly resolved I would definitely recommend and will stay again if I’m looking for accommodations in the area.

Enjoyed our stay!

This cozy cottage was perfect for our recent visit to visit family in Elkins, NH. It is located a short walk to Pleasant Lake for swimming and boating (in good weather). Steph was so attentive and helpful and provided many wonderful amenities in the cottage. This is our go-to place to stay whenever we visit the area.

The cottage was very clean, had everything we needed, and was so very cute.Our host made sure we had our check-in info well ahead of our arrival and responded quickly to our messages however once we arrived at the cottage there was nothing else we needed. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this cottage!

Cool location, great place

We had a large family gathering nearby and the Dam Cottage was perfect for family of 4 to stay. Hard to beat the location, on a small river flowing from Pleasant Lake. Highly recommend!

Perfect Stay!

The cute cottage was perfectly located for our visit. The town of Elkins is charming and the scenery was stunning. Communicating with the host was seamless as was the check in process. We would happily stay at this adorable home again!

Very nice property in quaint and quiet location. Everything was close by, and Pleasant Lake is the real star of the show. Perfect swimming in a clear lake to your heart's content. Apartment was well stocked with towels and silverware, etc. Hope to go back in the summer next year!

The property was as described, and the location was awesome. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we didn’t give it a perfect rating because it felt like there wasn’t quite enough thought put into preparing for guests’ arrival.A few small things made a difference. The bathroom is located across the house from the bedrooms, so we felt a night light was important. Unfortunately, both night lights provided were burnt out. We also tried using one of the three flameless candles, but none of those worked either. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty, so we had to purchase our own.It was unseasonable warm so we needed to strategically place the fans to keep the bedrooms cool which also was a little tricky.None of these things were deal-breakers, and they were all relatively easy fixes. However, taken together, they gave us the impression that the property hadn’t been fully checked and prepared before our arrival. With a little more attention to these small details, this could have been a five-star experience. The property itself and the location were both great.

peaceful retreat

My husband and I had a peaceful stay at the beautifully appointed cabin - there was good information upon check in and the air conditioning was awesome (the few days we needed it on). There were many items left in the kitchen to start our visit. There is the most lovely view from the cabin and a very quick walk to the lake - sunsets were amazing!!

Cozy Retreat

We had a wonderful time at the Dam Cottage. It was very clean and had the most comfortable beds we've ever had at a rental. Stephanie communicated well and made us feel very welcome. We look forward to staying here again!

Great stay!

We were visiting the area to meet our newest grandson. This charming cottage was the perfect location, just below the beautiful lake. The cottage is spacious, clean and loaded with amenities. Our hosts were very easy to communicate with and made our stay enjoyable. Can't wait to come back!

Perfect Stay

This cottage was above and beyond our expectations. It was clean as a hotel, and had so many wonderful little touches that made it feel like it was set up just for us. The location is near so many great restaurants, great skiing, hiking trails, not to mention the gorgeous lake right in front of you. Elkins is a small peaceful town that feels so relaxing. It was perfect!

Great Location

Lovely stay at the Dam Cottage. More than enough space for our family of five. The location is excellent, with a quick walk to the lake and a quick drive to the local mart / gas station if any last minute items are needed. New London downtown is also close.

we liked it so much we returned for a second stay a year later

We stayed at this same property last winter and had such a great experience that we returned this year (the best kind of review is a repeat stay, right?) Stephanie is a great host: great communication, clean property, and helpful tips on local amenities. It works well for a family with two good sleeping rooms, nice kitchen, and cozy common areas.

Great Clean Little House

Great Clean Little House, well stocked. We had a wonderful time celebrating New Years. House was clean and new and just what we wanted. Close walk to Lake Pleasant just across the street. Close to all the stores and restaurants in New London. Also, close to ski slopes of Sunapee. Will definitely rent again !

The house was comfortable.make sure you bring your electronic wall charger plugs. We did. Heat worked well.Beds were comfortable. Had a musty smell every time you came in to the place. But would soon disappear. Could use a rubber Matt in the bathtub. I fell in the shower. But all is well. A very nice relaxing place.

Fantastic Cottage.

Loved this cottage. It was much larger than I expected. Comfy beds and furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. Plenty of room for the 4 adults we had in house. Nice little walk to the end of the lake to watch the sunset and sip coffee in the morning. We visited with a plan to ride the Northern Railtrail and it all went perfect. A 5 mile mostly downhill ride to the trailhead then about 35 flat miles from Andover to Lebanon. Good times!
