Erected in 1978 by the owner's father who was looking for an escape from the city, the Alpen Suite in Ossipee is the ideal home away from home for your family or large travel group. Whether you're visiting to hike the local trails, kayak on the lake, or ski the slopes at one of the local resorts, you'll find plenty to do here no matter the season. This charming vacation rental features a well-equipped, full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a breakfast bar, a dining table with bench seating for mealtimes or rainy day games, a cozy living area with a flatscreen TV and a warming wood stove, and a game room with a foosball table. And outside, gather around the firepit as the stars come out.

The cottage itself was fine. A little dusty inside but good enough. But the trash situation outside was terrible and dangerous. When we arrived there was a trash can with a bear lock laying on top of another trash can. I assumed they both had locks and were empty. But the one on the bottom had NO BEAR LOCK and was FULL of loose, unbagged trash. Around midnight we heard noise outside and discovered a bear had pulled the trash cans over, smashing my headlight in the process. There was trash all over the ground, so i had to clean that up in the middle of the night. We reported this to Vacasa immediately and the next day a man came to "remove the trash" but he only took the trash bags out of the bear lock bin. The trash can full of loose trash was not touched at all. We again reported the unsafe conditions but no one came to remove the trash for the entire time we were there. Apparently other reviews from months ago mention the unsafe trash conditions. This is a known problem that keeps being ignored. Would not recommend staying here, especially if you have children or pets. Its not safe and Vacasa wont help you. They wouldnt even offer any sort of partial refund to make up for my vehicle's damage, and the fact I was cleaning up someone else's trash in the middle of the night. Won't ever book through Vacasa again.

We appreciated the accommodations and being able to have enough beds along with bringing our dog. The kids loved the game room although in August we could really only spend time out there in the morning when it was cool enough. We did have a creature visit the trash cans one evening and despite being advertised as having bear proof trash cans, both trash cans were lock free so there was some trash strewn about. We were able to clean it up, but it did make us a bit nervous for the duration of the stay. The trash was very full when we arrived and was only partially emptied one day during our 5 day stay. Inside there were lots of broken things (chairs, towel hooks, etc) and cooking in the kitchen was challenging as the supplies were inconsistent (not enough forks, salt but no pepper, no sponge for dishes).

Not the greatest

The garbage situation was bad -- there was a lot of garbage in the cans when we arrived and overnight animals tore through it. So then garbage sat all over the yard the entire time we were there. We notified Vacasa too. Inside the house there was no glassware - had to drink wine out of coffee cups.

Rustic cabin in the woods

The property was nice and the area is very quiet. It is a short walk to the beach area, but they are all private beaches with no public right of way so we had to drive to one of the 2 public beaches in the area, both are around a 10 minute drive at the most to enjoy the water. The cabin was comfy for everyone, the game room and backyard of the property were great. We did not use the kayak that was on the property due to the beaches that are a short walk away are all private and there was no information at the property if one of them was accessible by anyone visiting the property. Overall there were some issues like only 1 fork and 2 spoons in the kitchen, a light out on the upstairs bathroom, and some other lighting issues that we worked around. It worked on for us, but would not return to the same property.

AMAZING

Everyone was up to par , pictures are accurate to the listing in person . Beautiful scenery, space , big enough where everyone can have their own thing going cozy enough where u can still come together and have that family time . Loved it !! Would absolutely stay again .

Nice place but beware

The cleanliness of this home was extremely subpar. The place has lots of potential. However be advised you might want to bring your own bedding, utensils, pots, pans and a vacuum.

Lovely cabin just off the lake

The property has a perfect location within walking distance to the nearby lake. A perfect place for some birding! There is minimal road noise. A grocery store is just down the road. The cabin has good amenities and plenty of hot water.

Walked in and walked out 2 his later. Portable ac was unable to perform in 95 degree weather.

Pictures were nice but actual place wasn't a nice as the pictures. Garbage was strewn in the front yard when we arrived. Fireplace smelled of previous fire. We did not stay and have asked for a refund.

This house was great and met our needs perfectly. The only thing that would’ve made it better is the use of the washer dryer. But we knew they were unavailable before going so we packed accordingly. We had a wonderful family vacation and are so grateful to have found this house.

Perfect winter family getaway

A group of nine of us went up for a winter family weekend away. The cottage was perfectly cozy and had everything we needed. The wood stove was excellent and definitely appreciated by us all during our snowy weekend. The kitchen and dining area was great for a large group to enjoy meals family-style. Overall, we all really enjoyed our stay. I’m sure it’s even better in the summertime!

Cozy

Great little house. The property was clean except for the cookware and there were nice little touches provided within the home that really added a fun twist to our stay like the Christmas Tree, firewood, travel size shower supplies, and lots of board games. I'd love to stay again!

Family visit

Took short 5 day trip to visit son and his family. Looked for something close to him and cabin fit the need. Good location in the area. Nice place to stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Great spot, clean, lacked a few things.

The house and lot was perfect a perfect size for our 9 people. The home was beautiful. We really enjoyed the space. This home was lacking three things. No air conditioning, no dishwasher, and no laundry. Our crew dealt with it just fine, but keep that in mind before you book.

Convenient location for our out of state visitors, only 2 1/2 miles from our home.

This worked out well for us. The game room towards the back was a great place for the kids to spend time. The kids loved the hammocks and the foos ball table. Use of the yard would have been nice but at the time of our stay…still snow covered. Will keep this place in mind for future out of state visitors.

Greatest real cabin getaway

This little getaway was amazing you could kick your shoes off and feel like you were home everything you could have needed was there it was warm and inviting and not so perfect that you didn't want to touch anything just an awesome loved cabin thank you so much for the getaway

No Ossipee Beach Access

10 minute walk to beach that is private. I called property management to find out where we were allowed to access beach. I was told my inquiry would be escalated to upper management. Hours later someone from Oregon called back, he was looking into it. I finally called owner who said no beach access and no public beach in walking distance; the owner was pleasant. Closest public beach was at Silver Lake. No dishwasher so you would think there would be a basin to fill in the sink but no. Plates in cabinet had specs of dried food. Use paper products. A/C was in tough shape. Window screens missing or ripped, bugs get in. Yard was a mess, old dirty furniture. Beds comfortable and clean sheets but blankets and and bed covers not fresh. 2nd floor bedrooms hot, need to leave doors open to share one small Window A/C., and bathroom smelled of vomit. Things in basement piled up in front of washer, dryer- not accessible. Good place for family or bachelor party.

Cozy, clean property w beautiful surroundings! Would definitely stay here again

We were contacted by the property manager by text, the day of our arrival, to welcome us and let us know who to contact should there be any issues. Everything went smoothly and we had no problems whatsoever.

Wonderful Winter Getaway

We had wonderful stay over Christmas. We wanted a quiet winter get away and this place was perfect. Cozy and Comfy with lots of room for a group. The game room was a nice touch but we enjoyed our time in front of a wonderful fire in the family room. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook a small Christmas dinner. The beds were comfy and the home was spotless. I would definitely recommend this listing if your looking a winter get away.
