The Crooked House

Located just a few blocks from the Algonac Municipal boat launch and just minutes from multiple DNR boat launches, this apartment is the perfect location for fishermen and boaters! Also just minutes away from Algonac State Park and Harsens Island, outdoor enthusiasts and kayakers will find ample opportunities to explore both on land and on the water! Algonac is a short 10 minute drive south from historic Marine City, where you will find many excellent restaurants and one of a kind shops downtown.

This is an upstairs unit, and is accessable by outside stairs only. Please do not book if you are unable to comfortably walk up and down stairs!

Located in a quiet neighborhood, this unit features a large living room to relax in. The bedroom offers a queen sized bed, and there is a sleeping nook with a comfortable twin bed. This comfortably accomodates 3 adults.

The kitchen is completely stocked with everything you will need- microwave, kuerig, large refrigerator/freezer, toaster, dishes and cookware. There is a full bath with a shower. All linens and towels are provided. This unit does NOT have a washer/dryer. We offer a safe, no-contact stay for your safety and comfort. Pets are NOT allowed. No smoking.

Algonac is located at the southern end of the St. Clair river and offers a wide variety of opportunities to enjoy the water! Watch freighters pass by, take the ferry to Harsens Island, kayak, canoe, book a fishing charter, or bring your own boat. This rental is NOT waterfront, but is walking distance to the boat launch and riverside park. Perfect for fishermen!! We have 45 feet of parking for your vehicle and boat and can provide a plug in for your boat if needed.

I appriciate your feedback, and yes, the couch could be more comfy. I’m hoping to replace it soon. However, I’m a bit disappointed that you did not mention that we brought you a different chair from our own house to replace the one you didn‘t like, allowed you to bring a cat with no pet fee, gave you several extra days for free because your husband was ill, and also helped you retrieve a valuable item that you left behind. Thank you for leaving the apartment in good shape, and I am sorry we did not meet your expectations.

Very Nice Place

I stayed here for just a couple of days while visiting family. It was clean and filled with all of the necessities. I really enjoyed the short time I spent there.

Cozy and comfortable!

We stayed at this lovely place while in town for a family reunion. It was a cozy, quiet retreat for our family of 4. Our youngest son loved the little twin bed nook and our oldest slept on the pull-out sofa. The window unit kept the bedroom cool and we all slept really well. Good location. Loved the decor!

Home away from home

We needed a place for an employee to work while out of town for a long period of time. From the start Karen was extremely easy to work with and so flexible to our needs. Very accommodating and responsive. She made our employees time away from home comfortable. We had a great experience, and it was a pleasure doing business with Karen.

Hidden Gem

The Crooked House is a hidden gem in the middle of Algonac. Just a few blocks from the boardwalk along the St. Clair River and the boat launch. Kitchen is complete with dishes, cups, glasses, bowls, pots and pans, coffee and tea, and even some snacks. Lots of fluffy bath towels. Some toiletries in case you forgot something, and even a hair dryer. My wife is only 5'4", but at 6'2", I had to remember to duck going into the walk-in closet.

What a super darling gem!

This exceeded my expectations! From the pictures, i thought it may have been dark and uninviting, and i was wrong! I was very impressed with the decor. What a darling place and it was bigger than I expected. Also, my husband and I really appreciated the snacks, and coffee! Many hosts leave the cupboards bare. We felt like home and had everything we needed. We were vendors at the Algonac Art Fair. We will stay here again for sure! Loved it!

Cute little apartment on a quiet street

This little apartment was stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay. Even some snacks! The owner was wonderful To communicate with At every level. This apartment is upstairs with a totally separate entrance, and the year round tenant downstairs was quiet and I actually only saw her once so a nice quiet stay on a nice quiet street not far from stores and restaurants and the beautiful boardwalk and park downtown. I definitely recommend this little vacation spot just to be aware, there are quite a few stairs to get up to the apartment but I am 75 and I managed well

Clean, Cozy, & Stylish

Karen was a wonderful host, from my early inquiries, all through the booking/communication process. Her rental is clean, cozy, and stylish. It was perfect for our family of four (including 2 kiddos, ages 5 & 7) to stay. We gave the kiddos the big bedroom for a fun sleepover, and hubby & I took the nook bed by the bathroom. There was also the pull out couch as a backup option. It was walking distance to our family wedding location and worked out perfectly for us to stay a couple nights since we were helping with set up and clean up as well. The rental does have steep stairs up, which was no problem for us, but please be aware. There are solar lights to help on the stairs at night. Kiddos loved the balcony/porch and big walk in closet. There were plenty of games, puzzles too. Check in and out was easy. Everything we needed was available plus extra things that made it feel homey. Beds, blankets, and pillows are all so nice and soft. Loved the bee theme and stylish accents. Thank you Karen for a great experience. Emelia :)

Clean with Character

We thoroughly enjoyed this small upstairs apartment in an older house with the character charms I love from that time period - wood floors, nooks and crannies, slanted ceilings and a little spot for "day bed dreaming." The sunlight comes in subtly in the morning and the porch is a wonderful place to drink coffee among the tree leaves as well. The age of the place is not to be wary of - the owner keeps it very clean with up-to-date and simple decor. Everything works and feels fresh, including cozy throw blankets and clean rugs. The neighborhood is quiet, like a throwback to an earlier time for us Detroit suburbanites. We spent the day on our bikes, crossing the ferry to Harmons Island and riding around there. Thank you, Karen - we hope to return for more time exploring the lake area.

Great stay at The Crooked House

Super cute, comfortable and clean place. 3 adults were quite comfortable for our 2 night stay. Nice quiet neighborhood and easy access to main roads. Kathy was quick to respond when booking and although we didn't need anything while staying, she had already offered up assistance as needed prior to our arrival. Little snacks left in the kitchen were much appreciated as we took some with us during our golf games. Thanks for everything and a wonderful stay Kathy.

Close to Harsens Island

Very much enjoyed our stay as the place was really clean and nicely decorated which made it super comfortable. The little extras were extremely helpful as well (sometimes you forget your toothbrush and Karen had it covered!) I would highly recommend staying here. Karen made sure we had everything we needed and didn't hover, which made for a great stay.
