Amazing location and breathtaking views! Nestled in the coastal foothills just off California Scenic Hwy 46 West - exactly halfway between the quaint artist village of Cambria (10 min) and gateway to the spectacular Paso Robles/Templeton wine region (just outside your door).

Newly remodeled cottage from the ground up. Enjoy top of the line furnishings, amenities and touches that one would expect from an artist. The large master bedroom is a Southeast Asian retreat with unique pieces from Nepal and Thailand. The queen bedroom takes you back to early California. The kitchen is fully stocked and has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Relax in privacy on the patio overlooking a vast farming valley below or tuck yourselves back in the shade of the oaks and bay trees off the rear patio.

For the safety of our guests during COVID, we have increased our minimum stay. We We also try to reserve 1 day for cleaning between guests. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

The cottage is always a peaceful getaway. It’s cozy and relaxing with a beautiful view, and the beds are perfect! Good wildlife viewing as well. You can go exploring, but staying in is just as good if you need to recharge. Lisa is a wonderful host!

PerfectionPhotos can’t capture the beauty and serenity of the Artist’s Cottage. We’ve stayed in quite a number of vacation homes and this is truly a standout. The driveway runs up through a vineyard to the cozy and well appointed cottage with a million dollar view, and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy it all.Templeton wine trail, SLO, Paso Robles and all the amazing coastal towns at your fingertips, and an amazing private retreat to come home to.Wonderful hosts as well. Thank You Lisa and Randy for a one of a kindstay on the central coast!

We were very impressed by how well organized everything was. The place is beautiful. It's a little off the beaten path, as you may end up driving 10 miles in any direction to visit sites, but that worked out quite nicely for us.The check-in and checkout process was very easy.

Perfect Getaway

My wife and I stayed at the artist retreat in Templeton to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, and our experience far exceeded our expectations.The cottage was charming and well-stocked, and the fresh flower bouquet was an unexpected touch, making it feel like a true home away from home.The location and views were simply incredible. We spent much of our time on the front porch, soaking in the beautiful scenery, fresh air, and watching the wildlife.It was the perfect getaway for us as a couple—a peaceful escape from the daily grind, crowds, and traffic.We absolutely loved our stay!

Quiet and special

we were looking for a getaway that would be a relief from all the construction and digging with its accompanying noises and dirt/dust that was the current standard on our street at home. We found it!…and more. The house is well-supplied and the owners are super responsive to any need. When they deliver a requested item, they will leave it near the cottage and text you the location. Your privacy and peace are their first concern. We will be going back and soon!

A Wonderful Wine Country Escape Near Paso Robles

My wife and I recently enjoyed a mini-honeymoon at the Artist Vineyard Cottage and had a fantastic time. The private cottage is on a secluded hilltop overlooking the Santa Lucia mountain range and the gorgeous green bucolic valley below. The views are spectacular. If you're looking for a secluded, calm, and relaxing retreat in the Paso Robles wine country, this is the place!The cottage is about twenty minutes outside the hustle and bustle of central Paso Robles, but just a few minutes from several exceptional wineries. The cottage is also about 30-45 minutes from Cambria and Hearst Castle, and there are several options for day trips and exploration of California's Central Coast.The cottage was tastefully decorated and furnished with everything you could need for a romantic and relaxing stay. Lisa and Randy, the property owners, were warm, welcoming, and very attentive.The Artist Vineyard Cottage comes with our highest recommendation, and we look forward to visiting it again soon.

Short, but Sweet

This was our second visit to the cottage, though, unfortunately, we could only stay for three days. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the area. This property is, without a doubt, one of the best VRBOs we’ve ever stayed in. The cottage is thoughtfully stocked with everything you could possibly need!

One with Nature

Greeted by an infinity pool that looks down to the valley and across the mountian. Close to San Fran, Sasalito, Muir Woods. Hummingbirds flutter through out the gatdens. A private large covered deck. Attention to detail inside...comfortable bed, well equiped kitchen, lovely spa and gifted snacks. Perfect place to rest. covered deck

Exactly as advertised. Very comfy, and everything a kitchen could need. Small yet felt spacious. Only downside was constant traffic noise from busy road nearby. We enjoyed the hummingbirds and flock of wild turkeys.

Our 6th Stay at the Dream House

My wife and I have now stayed at Lisa & Randy's cottage 6 times--each time for about a week. Although we travel a lot, we've never had a rental we love as much as this one. The house is absolutely serene and comfortable, well equipped with top-notch appliances and amenities (including central heat and high-speed wifi), and beautifully located on top of a hill overlooking vineyards, oak-covered hillsides, and the coast range beyond. We spent hours hanging around the house, both inside and out, reading or sipping wine, and we cooked all our meals here. The location can't be beat: up in the mountains away from it all, but only 20 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes the other way to world-renowned wineries. Cambria is a great town, too: good natural foods, very arty-crafsty. Lisa and Randy are wonderful hosts. They're generous and reliable, fun to hang out with if they have the time, but also respectful of their guests' privacy. We adore this property, and can't wait to come back.

This cottage checked all the boxes for us. Loved the elevated position, views, privacy, and the variety of outdoor seating locations. The interiors were understatedly lovely, and in excellent condition. Felt the cottage was more beautiful in real life than in the VRBO photos. Also it seemed more spacious than we expected from the square footage. Communications with Lisa were prompt, thorough and warm personally. An example of her care and follow-through: when booking I asked if the TV included Tennis Channel. She said it did not, but that she would look into it before our arrival. Lo and behold, it was available when we turned on the TV. She had upgraded the package. That is just one example to me of outstanding property management. Whenever in the Paso Robles/Templeton area, we will always stay there. We flat out loved it.

Weekend Getaway in Cozy Mountain Wine Country

My friend and I had been hearing about Paso for the last couple of years, and took the chance to enjoy a long weekend. My mother decided to join last minute - which was a great addition. The property is clearly cared for well and the hosts are active in communication throughout the stay. Conveniently located to several wineries and wonderful scenic views, this is a great space and we’ve already started talking about our next visit.

Working in our studio, surfing, gardening, ping pong, basketball, music and art. That is what you'll find us doing everyday. Oh, and cleaning and maintaining the cottage!!

We purchased this acreage (26) in 1999 with nothing but one framed out two story barn standing alone and a rickety old cabin on the hill. We own both sides of Old Creek Road. "Our" side is 10 acres with our home studio (used to be the barn) and "Your" side is the remaining acreage with a vineyard and our guest cottage.

THEEEEE PERFECT LOCATION! You'll have complete privacy, your own land and road and gate at the beginning and end of the road that goes up to the cottage. Adjacent to our property is the LAND CONSERVANCY / Santa Rita Ranch which creates a corridor for wildlife to travel through this mountain range, the Santa Lucia's. Our location 1/2 way between the Pacific Ocean and Paso Robles downtown brings in a coastal influence which typically keeps our weather temperate. Having us live right across the road makes it handy if you need anything during your stay. It's a blink of an eye (under 5 minutes) to VINEYARD DRIVE and some of the most amazing "west side" wineries. Trader Joe's is 11 minutes away.
If you head down Old Creek Road 15 minutes max, you'll hit the coast and if you turn right you are in Cayucos (Ruddell's smoked fish tacos) and to the left - Morro Bay for fresh fish (restaurant and fish market) at Dockside II on the wharf.
