Welcome to your cozy retreat just outside Elizabethtown, PA! Located in a quiet neighborhood, our stylish two-bedroom chalet is the perfect blend of comfort and charm. If you're planning a romantic weekend, a family adventure, or a peaceful escape, this thoughtfully designed home has everything you need—including a brand hot tub and a private patio under the stars.

Just 12 miles to Hershey, 20 minutes to Lancaster, and 25 minutes to Harrisburg, you're close to allot—yet surrounded by nature.
The space
Step inside and enjoy the rustic elegance of reclaimed barn wood cabinetry, pine tongue & groove walls, hickory floors, and modern slate appliances—all wrapped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highlights include:

Two upstairs bedrooms (via spiral staircase)

Full bathroom with tub/shower combo (on the main floor)

The spiral staircase is a unique centerpiece of the chalet—it’s fairly easy to navigate, but note that the bathroom is located on the first floor.

We had a great stay! Dave was very quick with communication and the location was close to the areas in Hershey and Amish Country that we were exploring! The hot tub was clean and a great way to end the day!

Great place to stay. Good location!

We enjoyed the chalet! The hot tub was top notch and big enough for all of us. We also were happy because this was in a good location for our day trips to Hershey, Lancaster and Gettysburg.

The Chalet was very beautifully decorated. The bed and furniture very comfortable. They had Amazon Prime on the TV and was able to watch several movies on days when the weather wasn't so pleasant. I hope I can return at some point.

This cozy house was perfect for our time in the area. My husband and I brought my 6 yr old grandson to explore Hershey, Bird in Hand and Lancaster. Elizabethtown was the perfect location to access all three. We loved the quiet neighborhood, the well appointed house and the hot tub. Easy check-in, responsive hosts, and everything we needed. We would definitely book this chalet again.

Perfect little getaway

Our stay at Donegal Chalet was lovely! The checkin process was super easy, the hosts were very communicative, and the house was so clean. We loved this little house as it was close enough to hershey but also in such a quiet neighborhood. The beds were also so comfy.

Chalet

The host left us a short welcome note and chocolate and mints at check in. The property was clean and very well maintained. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. It was the perfect place to stay, close to Elizabethtown College.

Location of Property

Location was perfect for our stay. Upgrades to living room furniture and the steps leading into the home has no hand rail and not sturdy.

Glad you liked the location! Not sure what you mean by no handrail on the concrete steps leading to property. Per the pictures in our listing you can see the steel handrail and concrete steps.

Exactly as pictured. Perfect for a couple's weekend trip. Drive to Hershey was at most 30 minutes. Enjoyed coming back to the quiet neighborhood each night. Hosts' communication and responses were quick and informative for any questions we had.

Great location, and clean well kept cabin… Hot tub is perfect, we used the fire pit at night as well…it was really nice to relax in the hot tub at night with fire pit going in nature at night… cabin is close to Hershey so it is perfect and check out Elizabeth Downtown…it is very quaint with nice shops, eateries, coffee shops etc… we wanted to get to Lancaster but ran out of time- but that is close as well… highly recommend.. just note spiral stairs would be difficult for anyone with balance or joint issues..Dave is great and responds quick to any questions..

Hershey Family Reunion

Everything about this place exceeded our expectations except the stairs to the upper level we found to be so narrow we barely could fit our suitcase up through the opening and treacherous if you needed to use the bathroom at night due to the narrowness of the steps. This was our first time at an airbnb so not much to compare it to but I was surprised at the expectations of how much was expected of us to clean the place prior to leaving. Make the bed, wipe it down and take the garbage outside seemed excessive so we rated it 4 stars instead of 5.

Quiet Getaway For 3

We loved it here and enjoyed our stay very much! The neighborhood is rural, very quiet, and well maintained. The home was very clean! Kitchen well equipped. Beds and pillows were soft and very comfortable. The bedrooms were a little warm on the hottest day of our trip but the hosts had provided box fans (and blankets, too!) and they did the trick! The spiral staircase was a hit with my kiddo and although it is narrow, my husband and I had no trouble navigating it to get to and from the bedrooms. We did choose to leave our luggage downstairs near the bathroom because that’s what worked for us anyways. The Hosts were very considerate, responsive, and helpful! Thanks so much!! Hope to stay here again!!

Good location but, narrow spiral stairs and uneven upstairs bedroom floor

The property was in a good location and was very clean. Communication with the manager was great. The issues we had were the uneven walk to the front door, the extremely small spiral stairs leading to the only beds, and the cut and uneven floor boards in the bedroom. I twisted my ankle walking to the front door and my son stubbed his toe on the uneven non secured flooring. The stairs are so narrow and tightly turning you have to walk sideways to get upstairs. We could not get our luggage up the stairs to the bedrooms. The only bathroom is downstairs, which is very daunting in the night. Would not recommend for elderly, over weight, small children or pets. Would be fine for a younger couple if the front walk and upstairs bedroom floor are fixed.

Thank you for the compliments on our Chalet. We are sorry to hear the walkway, floor and spiral staircase gave you issues. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience these caused you and your family. The walkway has a little unevenness due to heaving over the years. The floor upstairs is not uneven. There is a section of the floor that is a trap door to get furniture upstairs. There is a small crack in the floor around that trap door. We will cover it with a rug, for future guests. We have since updated our listing to include the spiral staircase and the bathroom location on the first floor.

We are a family of 5 with 2 girls and 1 boy. The two girls are in college and our son is in High school. They are involved with running the vacation rental with us. Mindy grew up in this area and graduated high school here. She has many family close by. Dave grew up in western PA, here, and southern Virginia where he graduated high school. We currently reside in Mount Joy, PA, just a short 15 minute drive from the Chalet.
We also love to travel as a family and as a couple as well. Our adventures have taken us to popular Ski resorts and national parks, nation wide. We have done some international travel as well. One of our favorite overseas trips was to Ireland. This is where the name Donegal originated. Count Donegal in northern section of Ireland to be specific. It is also the name of the municipality the Chalet is located in.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

The inspiration for the Chalet is from the different places we have stayed in mountain towns and ski resorts. We are drawn to the small town, village type places tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We still like to stay connected while traveling, but like the feel of being away from congested areas. That has formed the choice of location for our Chalet.
We purchased this property in 2020 with the sole purpose of offering it as a short term vacation rental. We have hosted many couples and families since April of 2021.

The number one quality of our property is the location. It is rural but close enough to everything central PA has to offer. The second thing distinct about our property is the rustic modern feel. It's like staying in a Chalet on the side of a mountain without the seclusion from and distance from all that is available locally and regionally.
