Large but badly maintained
Positives: large house, lots of room, nice seating outside, on the inland waterway / canals so view of water. The negatives are many. First, the house is for sale, and it's pretty clear the house is not being maintained. The running joke was "maybe it will work, let's find out" --- most of the time it didn't work. The hot tub, which was advertised when we rented the property, is now an "unheated water feature". The pool is unheated, and freezing when we rented in February. The outside grill looks very nice, but the wires hanging out are the removed igniter; you can light with a clicker, but only 2 burners work and the grill itself is a mess. So bad we couldn't use it, and instead used the weber grill that was conveniently placed next to it.
Let's see... probably half the light bulbs are burned out. The floors were filthy --- swept yes, cleaned no. 4 bedrooms, 3 with terrible mattresses. Large TVs everywhere, but we could only get 1 to work. When we checked in the front door electronic lock was broken, so we had to call, wait, and then use physical key to get in. Electronic lock had to be replaced the next day. And, drum roll please... The worst part? The upstairs bar area had 2 mouse traps in one of the cabinets, one of which had caught a rat probably 2-3 weeks ago. So yes, when we arrived, there was a large rat decaying in a cabinet upstairs.
After a few txt messages, the staff came out the next day to remove the rat, and then later that evening a cleanup crew came to clean the cabinet area. Suffice to say a dead rat on checkin is normally a dealbreaker, but we rolled with it because we didn't have much in the way of other options.
Would I stay there again? No.
