Perfect Michigan Summer

This place was absolutely perfect for us! My kids loved playing in the water and catching countless fish off the docks. We were close enough for day trips to surrounding attractions, and far enough off the beaten path to enjoy the peace and quiet. The house was well taken care of and very comfortable. It was a perfect week enjoying a perfect taste of Michigan Summer!

Great cottage for family

We loved the quiet atmosphere and neighborhood but there was building going on next door that was constant noise and pounding the entire day. We wish we would have known that and wasn’t a good time to go. Landlord was great and the beds need new mattresses. Lots of dirty dishes and unorganized kitchen. We still enjoyed it and would recommend to friends. Thanks Julia for your kindness.

Cute waterfront cottage

This is a cute waterfront cottage. Very clean inside. The kayaks and paddleboat were great to use. The waterfront srea is not very swimmable. Its sandy for a few feet then you have a ron of lilly pads. Overall a great stay.

Girls Weekend

If you are looking for a quiet (not active) lake, this lake is for you. The house was cute, but needed some TLC. Its location on the lake was not ideal, lots of vegetation in the surrounding water, not ideal. Our weather for the weekend was not good, so maybe if it had been better the lake would have been more lively? Overall, if you are looking for quiet and minimal water activities, this would suit you.

Peaceful, Relaxing Getaway

Great place to stay for a long weekend get away. The cottage was very clean and the property was well maintained. The owners were easy to communicate with and very responsive. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Fair Assessment of this property

The pictures are as advertised of the property. There were some problems staying here though that need to be reviewed in fairness to others who are thinking of staying here. The property states it has air conditioning. There is a room air conditioner in the main living area, but the bedrooms stay warm even with fans on. The beds in all rooms are very hard and uncomfortable. We left early because of this. There is one bathroom for up to six persons. I believe the owner knew there was a bathroom problem with the toilet. Though fixed the 2nd day, if fixed prior to our arrival, 6 people would have not had difficulties the first day. During our stay the lake was treated and we could not use the lake for a day because of this. The owner should have made us aware this was occurring and we would not have made plans to use the lake that day. Construction next door is very loud so be aware if you are planning a trip soon- the houses are very close. Owner stated we broke something trying to charge in which we did not break anything. I want to be fair and have never left a negative review before, but beware if expecting a decent stay with good products and services. The boats especially the paddle boat are a nice edition and saved this stay as much as possible.

Cute little cabin

Cabin was very cute, it ended up being just me and my 9 year old daughter. Cabin as perfect for just the two of us, my daughter loved the paddle boat and kayaks and lots of fishing. Cabin was small but had what we needed, swimming was ok but we went down the road to really swim and play at a a beach at the state park. Ended up being a great getaway

Family Time

Nice time together with family. The area was quiet and welcoming. We enjoyed the paddle boat and grilling outside. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and more. The beds were not as comfy as we hoped for. The water is very hard so we were happy that we brought several gallons of water to drink. Overall a nice place to stay.

Sutherland Lake cottage

We had a wonderful time. Place was clean and nice. Fishing was amazing right infront of cottage and lake. Mosquitos and bugs weee not bad all day. Dont stay out past 9:30 mosquitos come out heavy heavy

Weekend Lake Retreat

The cottage was incredibly charming and cozy. Our 12-year-old kids had a blast with the paddle boat and boat with electric motor. I personally enjoyed the kayaks. While the lake offered stunning views, swimming wasn't ideal due to a mucky bottom, although the owners maintain a sandy area. We nearly canceled our trip due to a last-minute lack of a dog sitter, but the owner kindly allowed us to add our dog to the rental without charging the usual pet fee. My only issue was that the toilet took a while to refill after flushing, so if multiple people used the bathroom in quick succession, it wouldn't flush promptly. Again, the cottage was very clean and even though we did not have the best of weather, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Fantastic Fall getaway

My husband and I stayed at this property for a long weekend. The property was extremely clean and well-equipped. We have two dogs and they had a great time! The weather was perfect and the lakehouse was so comfortable and cozy. There are great little eateries and shops in the community. There is a fabulous park with a lake that we visited, just a few minutes away from our place. We will definitely come back next fall!

Peaceful getaway

We arrived mid-week when there were no neighbors so everything was quiet. It was perfect for us! Leisurly kayak rides on the lake in the early morning, watching the Loons throughout the day.

Peaceful Lake Getaway

The owner was friendly and very responsive. The property was as described. The cottage was clean and the overall property was well groomed. Close to stores and local restaurants. Location on the lake was very peaceful and had nice views. I personally didn't feel the waterfront was swimmable but I am pretty picky; kids would probably easily jump in! Overall a great stay not too far from home. We had a great time.

Nice little get away!

The house was clean and nicely decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed the watercrafts that were available for use. Our 18 yr old has a newly developed love for kayaking and is now looking to purchase one! We caught several different kinds of fish too. This location is perfect if you're looking for someplace quiet and peaceful. The evenings were gorgeous with so many stars clearly visible! There were two cons: 1 - Access to the water to swim. If you have little ones, this could be tricky. There were many weeds and lily pads in the water and it was very sludgy where you could get in. 2- A massive amount of geese feces in the back yard. We had to clean it up several times to enjoy the being outside. Otherwise it was a fantastic vacation! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Adorable Place Perfect for a MI Lakefront Get-a-way

I booked this place a while back for fourth of July weekend as we are always stuck at home and wanted to be somewhere on the water for a change of pace! This cabin is absolutely adorable and served my husband and I, and our family members perfectly for the holiday weekend. The property owners let you use the kayaks, paddle boat, and fishing boat which I really appreciated and the amenities in the house were perfect. I also really appreciated the A/C Unit and large fridge as we brought up a lot of food so we had plenty of room to store it. Sutherland Lake itself was very enjoyable - the water was warm, the neighbors were friendly, and the property has great views of the lake. Would definitely book again in the future!

Cute. Cabin, beautiful setting

The owner has really done a nice job decorating and making the cabin feel homey. Sutherland Lake is just steps from the deck. Great view of the lake.

Beautiful and relaxing retreat

Beautifully decorated house right on the lake. We loved the deck and being only steps from the lake. They provided 2 kayaks which were fantastic to paddle around the lake or fish from. Good place to fish but the lake is very shallow. If you are looking for a quiet, laid back retreat this house is perfect. This would be a 5 star house if there were a few upgrades. There is sulfer water and we chose to bring in bottled water to drink. Also, I would suggest upgraded mattresses on the beds in the double bedroom. The master bedroom mattress was comfortable. I would definitely stay again as this is an adorable cottage with friendly neighbors in a quiet location.

Absolutely lovely

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. We loved decor and the comfortable furniture. Went kayaking and fishing with the rowboat/trolling motor. Caught some nice bass and blue gills and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was obvious that the owner takes pride in this property! I would definitely recommend!

Quiet and relaxing

This Harrison cottage was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of life! Everything you could possibly need for a stay at the lake. Though we didn’t use it, there’s access to a fishing boat with motor, kayaks, cornhole, and board games. The neighbors passing by boat were pleasant, smiling and waving - one even talking fishing with my husband as he was on the dock with his pole. Thank you for allowing us to spend the weekend in your house. And for also finding our kindle and ear bud prior to us even realizing it was missing and offering to mail them. I appreciate it!!

I saw so much potential with this house and being in an Up North Rural Area, surrounded with woods and just steps from the Lake was an added bonus. I envisioned myself sitting on the large deck facing the Lake drinking my coffee in the morning. In the evening sitting around a Bonfire talking about the good ole' days.
