Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything I needed was there. It was close to everywhere I wanted to go. The only issue I had was the steps. I never would have rented it if I had known. I have knee problems and it made it very uncomfortable to go up and down. And the ones inside to the bathroom and kitchen are just an accident waiting to happen.

A lovely, wonderful spot for one or two people. The cottage is just amazing. We loved it and had a wonderful time. It's an easy walk to downtown West Jefferson.If I could improve just one thing about this wonderful place, it would be the television. I know you are likely not there watch tv, but if it rains and you need a little entertainment, this is the worst streaming service imaginable. Separate apps work fine, but the "live tv" service is confusing, slow and freezes quite often.Otherwise it is just perfect. For selfish reasons, I hesitate to give it such a great review because I don't want it to become too popular! I sincerely hope it is available on our next trip.

But if a quiet and close in cottage is what you are looking for, this is the one. I will mention it is for two people only.

Reviewer Comments: It was just far enough outside of downtown West Jefferson to be quaint and close enough to walk back if you wanted to. The place was definitely built for 2 people and was nicely kept. Bed slept great. Overall, it was a good place to stay for the price. It could use a few extra amenities (i.e. coffee, creamer, shampoo...) but overall, it was a good visit.

Romantic apartment

Apartment is beautifully decorated and close to downtown (about 1/2 mile). Very clean and in a quiet private area. Bed is very comfortable with nice linens. Only downsides are the wifi was very weak and mostly unusable, and the cleaning and other fees doubled the price of the room.

Reviewer Comments: Nice cottage if you like climbing steps to get into the house and going to the bath bath and going to the kitchen also when you use the toilet the bath room is so small when you sit down on the toilet the door sets between your legs no hand rails in shower or at toilet the cottage is not handy cap friendly. I was not asked if I needed any special needs.everything is done on computer

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were so pleased with this incredible cottage. There is a larger home on the same property, but we only rented the cottage. It was just stunning. So clean and so updated. We were thrilled with this property. One tiny suggestion to the owners. This is only meant to be helpful and should not be seen as something horribly negative. I believe the internet and Wi-fi needs to be updated. We had spotty at best television service and no Wi-fi for phones the entire stay. I tried resetting but that didn't seem to help. It was NOT a big deal. This is just a suggestion in case the equipment may need updating. Just a wonderful stay. THANK YOU!

Cute cottage!

My husband and I really liked this cottage. Its immaculate! The location is right outside of West Jefferson but you’ll take a private road up a hill and you feel very secluded. The bed was very comfortable with really nice linens and pillows. The larger house next door was unoccupied so not a sound from neighbors. Their are a couple of things to consider though.. The cottage has no over head covering not even a patio umbrella which we thought was weird because the bigger house actually has two covered porches. One night we had a nice fire in the fire pit and were getting ready to cook steaks on the (little) grill when it started pouring down rain we couldn’t even sit out side let alone cook! That was super disappointing! It rained for two days so we were stuck inside! Nice coffee machine but no coffee had to go to the store the first morning. All the doors need a shot of WD40.. super squeaky when one or the other person is sleeping. Dish towels would be great! And a screen on the doors so insects (bumble bees and wasps) 🐝 can’t just fly in! Lastly the kitchen window doesn’t lock so that too.. Hopefully they will make some small improvements to accommodate their guest! Otherwise great stay!

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately, the weather is unpredictable and the way the cottage is set up there is not a good location for a covered porch. We have addressed the squeaky doors and dish towels have been added. We will also check on the kitchen window. Thank you for the review and we do hope you will stay with us again.

West Jefferson Get Away

The location of this VRBO is good in that it is in West Jefferson, but it isn't what we consider walking distance to the town or restaurants (except for a Pizza place). It is beside a larger home on the property that wasn't rented when we were there. The grounds are lovely as it's up on a small hill. This place is a little hard to find in that you have to turn between a truck sales lot and another commercial property, with the road not easily apparent..until you enter the property. Follow the instructions that will be emailed. The garage apartment is newly renovated with nice new furniture. There are steps to get up to the entry and then another large step up to get into each of the bathroom, closet, and kitchen. (If you have knee problems, this isn't the place for you.) There's a nice deck that we enjoyed. We had some problems adjusting the mini split to our preference. The first day and night we were freezing and the next two rather warm. The company offered to come out but we weren't around when the message came in. Later they didn't answer. The kitchen has a lot of cooking pots/pans, a microwave, and a full size refrigerator. There were no pods for the Keurig coffee maker. That should be identified on the listing, as we brought ground coffee. There were very tiny chips of packaged soap, so we had to go out and buy a bar of soap as well. Overall it was a nice stay with a decent location, other than a few minor inconveniences.

Thank you for leaving a review of your recent stay at Walnut Hill. We were unaware of any issues with the AC unit until you stopped the lawncare/maintenance man and asked him about it. Once we were aware of it, we tried contacting you to schedule a time when someone could come out. You did not have to be at the property but we did not permission to enter. We do clearly state that we only leave a starter supply of toiletries at the rentals. We do wish you had reach out to us with these concerns so we could have addressed them during your stay.
