Welcome to our family seaside cottage, since 1964 generations have enjoyed this quiet cozy ocean side retreat! Whether it's being outdoors swimming or boating on Carrying Place cove, searching for sea glass & shells on the rock beaches of Pigeon Hill Bay, Blueberry & Raspberry picking, hiking in the Pigeon Hill Conservation area or Petit Mann Wildlife Refuge, sunning on the back deck listening to the sounds of nature, playing croquet in the large backyard or relaxing inside with one of many books by the gas fireplace, or sit at the large dinning table and challenge yourself with one of many puzzles or board games; this unique cottage offers something for everyone. For all there is the Milky Way Galaxy unfolding above you, looking up at one of clearest night sky's in the northeast!
This very clean and well maintained cottage features a fully equipped large kitchen and one full bathroom. Four to eight people can comfortably sleep in the one bedroom (queen bed) and the three other areas of separated flex space, each with its own full sized futon or fold out sofa, The cottage offers a 4g, WiFi connection, a large TV with Amazon fire stick to stream your favorite shows and movies, BBQ grill, a land line phone for emergencies, and washer & dryer.

If you looking to get away for the day, Steuben is a quick day trip from Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, Schoodic Peninsula, Lubec, Eastport, Quoddy Head State Park and Campobello International Park (bring a passport)

Generations of our family have enjoyed this unique spot on the Downeast Maine coast, we are now opening it up for others to enjoy.

Steven was so kind in helping us modify our dates at the last minute. The cottage was incredibly relaxing with the most beautiful surroundings. We were so sad to leave and really enjoyed our stay!

Having a spot right on a tidal cove was a wonderful experience. The cabin was cozy, and we took day trips out to local sites. Communication with the host was effortless and helpful.

Disappointed. With only a few vacation days, we decided to do something different in Acadia National Park. What we didn't realize was the distance this cabin is from the majority of Acadia activities is 2.5 roundtrip. We tried to negotiate a partial refund, but that request was denied. Yes, probably should have done more research before booking, but the mention of "Acadia National Park" in the listing led us to believe it was close to the main part of the park. So, we took our loss on the rental and moved to a hotel room in Bar Harbor. Expensive lesson learned.

The stay was amazing! I live in a rural town in Aroostook County, ME. I thought I knew quiet. I didn't! There was no traffic noises and no machinery sounds in the distance. The property is beautiful with the cove and the grilling form the deck. The walk trails close to the property are relaxing and scenic. It is a perfect place to get true relaxation.

Definitely quiet and cozy. Far enough from the tourism to relax and close enough to enjoy. About an hour drive to bar harbor and Acadia national park, and plenty in between.We had an amazing stay. Awesome sunsets from the backside of the property! Just on the property we saw deer, turkeys, racoons, and porcupines! Hiking trails right up the road. We bought live lobsters from the Lobster trap up the road, and cooked them at the house. If you are looking for a relaxing Maine experience I would recommend staying here. The people in the area are really nice and welcoming.

The location is gorgeous with plenty of nearby walks, hikes, and interesting places to keep us busy. We saw deer, eagles and turkeys on the property. The cottage was clean and comfortable. It was quietā€”at times we could hear the ocean from Pigeon Hill Bay just down the embankment across the road. Perfect in every way!

We had such a wonderful stay at this cozy cottage! Everything was spotless. The home was stocked with so many thoughtful extrasā€”it truly felt like everything we could possibly need was right at our fingertips. Although our days were too packed to enjoy, we truly appreciated the great selection of games and books. Communication with the host was excellent from start to finishā€”friendly, prompt, and helpful. Very cute, clean, and comfortable!

This was a very cute little cottage in a great location, with lots to do right around the property. We hiked, checked out the coastline, did a Puffin Tour, and did a day trip to the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park. The house was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed and great views. The only caveat--it's historical and not built for tall people--so watch your head if you are tall!

Nice stay

Our family of 5 stayed and had a very nice time. The view from the back was amazing. I wish we had more time to do things around the house instead of just going to Bar Harbor. Great, clear instructions and recommendations were left at the house. There were a lot of breakables that might need to get moved if you have little kids (our youngest is 7).

Amazing views of the ocean and the night sky

If youā€™re wanting a nice place thatā€™s off the beaten path, this is the place. Still within easy drive of Acadia, but also opens up a day trip to Campobello Island, West Quoddy light, and Eastport for whale watching. Even more spectacular was the view of the night sky. As dark skies are becoming rarer and rarer, being able to see the Milky Way not just as a haze but with defined dust lanes and bright enough to walk around outside by, itā€™s an astronomers dream as well.An incredibly short walk to the nature preserve left us with up close views of bald eagles, porcupine, deer, and there was even a seal in the cove behind the house at high tide. If youā€™ve got a small boat, you can row out to Abbot Island for a picnic (which we did twice). An amazing place - with all the amenities you could ask for. Just plan ahead - itā€™s not a ten minute hop to the grocery store - and thatā€™s one of the great things about it!

Great location and atmosphere

If youā€™re looking for a little bit of an adventure, rather than a bland modern hotel room in town, this is a great choice. It reminded me of the house at the lake I grew up in, in northern Michigan, with lots of outdoors to enjoy and enough of the right amenities inside. Steve was very responsive and welcoming.

Great quiet spot

Super clean place, nice big kitchen with actually sharp knives. This was very close to some great hiking spots. Space enough for my family of four. We also enjoyed the view out back and saw deer, herons, and lots of dragonflies. Beds are comfy, and we all slept very well at night. This was perfect for a week to decompress. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Quiet stay in otherworldly beautiful spot

A summer retreat (return trip) to a quiet and beautiful area. Hiked in gorgeous nature preserves every day and hung out on the crescent pebble beach across the road. Bliss!

This cabin was the perfect way to start our vacation in Maine. The cabin is secluded but there is still activities to do 20-30 min away. The host left us a list of things to do and restaurants to try that were around the area. The cabin has an amazing view of the sunset over the water and the stars were stunning. We saw a family of deer in the backyard. It felt like a home away from home! We would love to go back one day!

Family trip to maine

Stayed here with my father and brother while we were visiting my mother. Spent the week at this quiet and cozy seaside cabin. Beautiful views of the water during the day and all the stars at night. Would definitely stay here again if we ever come back. The host was very friendly and answered any questions we had.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, I've been a frequent visitor to Downeast Maine and this property all of my life. I've lived in the Portland Maine area since 2001, starting in 2009, I decided to move to Bar Harbor (the gateway service town for Acadia National Park) where I worked as a seasonal restaurant employee and manager. In 2018, my life partner and I purchased the Black Friar Inn and Pub, a seasonal Bed and Breakfast/Restaurant located in the village section of Bar Harbor. In the off season (Dec-April), we live in Portland Maine, the rest of the time we are busy taking care of restaurant or inn guests. We do enjoy spending time out doors, hiking, traveling, craft beer and cider, and exploring small towns around New England and beyond

This property was purchased by my family in 1964, over the years the cottage has had several additions, including a deck and the large family / bonus room at the back of the cottage. Also upgrades to the electric, well, and septic systems. The cottage is fully insulted and has been used as a year residence for several years in the early 90s and again in the mid 2000s. The land lot is basically a large rectangle that goes from Pigeon Hill Rd on the front to the waters of Carrying Place Cove on the back, there is a private road/wide trail that runs the length of the property one side, there is also a large salt / fresh water clay mash that is part of the property as you head toward the cove. There is very little standing water, but the mash acts a large sponge for rain run off and as a buffer for higher then avg tides. Over the last 50+ years many generations have enjoyed this area and the peacefulness it can offer, especially outside of the busy months of July and August

O que faz essa propriedade ser Ćŗnica?

Downeast Maine is unique in general, and this property is no exception, the cottage sits about 2/3 of the way down Petitt Mann Point, at a very narrow spot, with water on both sides, the house faces east/west with gives a great views of the early morning sunrise and stunning long sunsets over Carrying Place Cove to the west. The cottage is short walk to both the Pigeon Hill Conversation Area and Petitt Mann Federal Wild Life Refuge, because of this there are very few buildings beyond our location, and almost no traffic. It is not uncommon, especially in the spring and fall to sit on the back deck and hear nothing but nature for hours. At night, with the area being one of the least unpopulated areas in the Northeast the night time light pollution is very low, both the moon and night time sky are extremely bright and vibrant.
