A memorable stay awaits you at this beautiful mountain-side micro-resort, mini farm. The Wandering Goat Lodge located on Big Cedars Farm currently offers a 17,400 sq ft PRIVATE access lower apartment featuring stunning views, a relaxing retreat and farm adventures abound.
BONUS- we added a saltwater pool, we are multi-pet friendly and also have FIBER Internet! :)

Located 5 miles from Blacksburg, Virginia and 11 miles from Christiansburg Aquatic Center... Ellett Valley is a quaint, rural "Sunday-Drive" destination outside of town with generations of Farm-living, historic homesteads, stunning views and close access to the Appalachian Trail iconic hikes-- all in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We are near the town of Blacksburg -- but just far enough to decompress and embrace breath-taking natural beauty. Seasonally & daily we encourage you to visit and take a walk, pet the animals and immerse yourself within the property's quiet spaces. This is a predominately family-owned valley and our farm is no exception. With a deep heritage of looking out for one another, it will probably be one of the safest places you ever stay -- and definitely one of the most beautiful.

Located along Mossy Spring Creek and overlooking Paris Mountain, The Wandering Goat Lodge at Big Cedars Farm is just 10 minutes from downtown Blacksburg & VA TECH Campus.

The WGL space sleeps 6 people and can accommodate more upon request. Bring your dogs and we even have a pen for them outside if you like. IF you have more guests, try our RETRO camper --the ROAM Inn- as an additional booking. We are told our farm is the perfect spot to be "near town" yet embrace all of nature and the beauty of the surrounding mountains. In the summer, young and old alike will enjoy the creek and in the cooler months, you can cozy up to our amazing bonfire--which offers a perfect backdrop for some memorable family photos. Try it, we believe you will love it and want to return.

This place is a dream come true. The view the property the comfort is top tier. Warren the host was very prompt with any requests, very helpful and kind. We had a great time. The property was exactly what we expected. The host was very friendly and responsive. We loved the bon fire pit and feeding the animals. I especially enjoyed coffee on the patio each morning, the view and quiet were just what I needed.

So peaceful!

This place exceeded our expectations! From the goats to the creek to the spacious and well stocked rental, we couldn’t have chosen a better location. Being as dog friendly as it is made it even better. We loved the goat snuggles, ATV ride, and even bought shirts to remember our visit. It was so quiet and peaceful and the views were gorgeous! Warren and Sylvia were wonderful hosts and we will absolutely be back again in the future!

Amazing

My family and I stayed here while my sons attended a camp at VT. Everyone loved it. Needless to say, we'll be booking again with them next year. We slept like logs and even got to hold newborn baby goats! Warren and his family were extremely accomodating and all around good people. Also, you have beautiful view from the fronch porch for when you're relaxing. I would highly recommend.

A peaceful stay in the beautiful mountains

Wandering Goat Lodge was everything it promised. We hiked around, fed goats, enjoyed a beautiful view, and stayed comfortably. Lodge had two beautiful bedrooms, decorated with antiques, and a fold-out couch. We watched Star Trek every night on satellite (tv was not Smart tv). Kitchen was well-equiped, but there is NOT a dishwasher. The bathroom was super nice! Loved our stay and the hosts were very helpful and kind.

My family and I stayed at the Wandering Goat Lodge in June. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! If you are looking for tranquility and the beauty of nature, this is it! It was clean, beautifully decorated, and had more than enough room for my family. It was also close enough to town that you could make a quick trip in if you needed anything. If you're looking for a VRBO stay that offers a beautiful location, incredible mountain views, and an atmosphere of pure relaxation, look no further.

Amazing place!

We had the most amazing stay at Warrens apt. Not only was the view spectacular, the place was extremely clean and had all accommodations one would need. The Donkeys and goats were a huge bonus! Let’s just say my 24 yo was in tears when she had to leave and said it was one of her favorite places. We will definitely be back!

Blue Ridge Peace & Quiet

Very clean, well appointed VRBO. Pet friendly. Goats (and babies) and donkeys - what's not to like. 15 mins from Virginia Tech. River/creek is clear and cold. Beds are comfy. Sat TV works well. Owner is very nice and available if needed. We highly recommend.

Kids thoroughly enjoyed feeding the goats and donkeys and playing with Maggie the dog. Adults enjoyed the peace and quiet and amazing views. The property was very well stocked with all the kitchen essentials and the bathroom had plenty of toilet rolls, shampoo etc. Beds were very comfy and the whole weekend was relaxing and fun. Fully recommend.

Perfect stay close to everything

We were visiting friends in Blacksburg and this was the perfect place to make our home base. The goats and donkeys were a huge hit with our kids, we walked up the trail in the woods, and there were so many extras that we didn’t have time to take advantage of. We hope to return!

Excellent spot for your mountain fix

This vaction rental is located in a somewhat remote but beautiful location just north of Blacksburg, VA. It is a single level ground floor unit that is attached to the host's house. Guests enjoy a spacious indoor space as well as a lovely outdoor patio overlooking a working farm and stunning scenery. We could see that it would make a great spot for Tech fans to watch and celebrate games on the tv. The host is welcoming and has done an excellent job of meeting his guests' needs with a spotless, comfortable space inside as well as access to multiple activities on the farm. While these may cost a little, they seem like a fun way to expand a vacation. So if you're in need of the fresh air and beauty of a mountain town or you just visiting Blacksburg for another reason we would certainly recommend this comfy spot.

I am a Blacksburg native and a former healthcare worker. During COVID times and a layoff I started to rely on my hosting as income. Now I am enjoying it so much I am trying to do this full-time. It's been interesting to me how many people I meet and WHY they come to see this area. I have enjoyed sharing "farm-life" and the beauty of this property. It's also fun to share my plans to improve and grow the space.-- ask me about that! :) You will see me -- but we don't have to speak. It's up to you how much we engage. My fiance Sylvia helps with property management and our pup, Penny is "in training" and often running around to greet visitors

My family has owned this land for 3 generations. It's a beautiful place to live, visit, and raise a family. In fact, the area is part of an historical preservation project funded by a grant to preserve "rural farming in our valley and Appalachia Virginia." We are still learning about this preservation effort but are quite proud that the land will remain as you find it and for future generations.

The approach and area surrounding the Wandering Goat Lodge is the kind of place where you picture "a Sunday Drive" to the country. Cows, rolling hills and farms, old barns, horses and more.... I welcome you to sit on the patio with your coffee and experience a morning sunrise over the mountain, or maybe engage with the goats and donkeys. You can hike up the fire trail to the ridge or take a stroll along the rolling landscapes to sit on the beautiful creek-side beach. Here you are close to nature, and Blacksburg and nearby Christiansburg (20) towns at the same time-- I think it's the perfect balance.
