Great stay

Exactly as described. Short walk to public beach or short drive/shuttle to Henderson beach park. Resort pools were excellent for the kids and plenty of things to do very near property. Bring your own towels for the pool

Overall nice place

The palms is a great resort to stay at. The pool and other amenities are great. We drove to the beach instead of the shuttle and it was an easy drive. The room could use some updating. The carpet was very stained and could use at least a good cleaning. We ended up at Walmart buying blankets because the sheets and bedspreads were as thin as paper. Overall, it was a nice stay and got the job done for what we needed.

Good stay, poor communication

The Palms of Destin resort was nice, we liked the pool and bar. The Palms Coffeehouse had very slow service but good coffee and cute vibes. The room itself had extremely stained carpet in the entryway. All the beds, aside from the master, were uncomfortable and springy. Our hot water also ran out pretty quickly. Communication with the “host” was difficult, as the listing is under VRBO, but managed through Vacasa. The communication between Vacasa and the Palms of Destin was also poor, as my friend was almost unable to check in even after I followed the instructions I asked for when planning on her to check in before I landed in Destin with the rest of the group. Had it not been for the desk worker at the resort knowing a friend with Vacasa, my verified guest would have been stuck in the lobby for 3.5 hours until I got there. We were on a bachelorette trip and had a great time because the beach was only a 10 min walk, but we had planned on using the shuttle from the resort. We were only able to use the shuttle once out of the four times we needed it because they don’t pick up from the beach at 1, 2 or 3 PM and the shuttle does not run on Saturdays or Wednesdays (didn’t have this info until we checked into the resort). Overall, we had fun, but I will not be booking a vacation rental managed by Vacasa again.

Needs some TLC

We had a few issues with the unit but the property mgmt company was good about resolving. The unit needs some TLC - carpets were stained, a barstool was broken, chair in primary bedroom was broken, toaster was broken, ice maker was jammed, closets were all off track, tv in bunk room didn’t work and had a mess of wires hanging from it, pans had peeling teflon. The beds were comfortable but were outfitted with only a flat sheet, a very thin blanket, and a textured flat sheet as a bedcover. The sofa bed was only provided two flat sheets - no blanket or pillow. There were no extra pillows or blankets in the unit. We contacted the property mgmt company and they brought blankets the following day. The tv in the bunk room did not work and they sent several people out, including the cable company, but they were not able to resolve. Toaster didn’t work - property mgmt brought a new one later that day. The listing advertises a heated pool with a picture of a large pool area - that pool is not heated. There is one small heated pool that everyone was crammed into. The other pools were too cold for us to swim in, including the baby pool. The pools were also very dirty with a lot of debris in them. I would not stay here again.

Fantastic value!

If this condo had a few more household conveniences and a few cosmetic refreshes, I’d give it a 5. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. We were happy with it. This home feels lived in (not brand new) - but the decor and furniture are very comfortable and appealing. When you’re at a condo for almost a week, a comfy couch and a nice bed are important. And I really liked the decorating. The TV in the living room and master bedroom are really nice. Hangers are provided, as well as an ironing board and iron (which I never use, even when I am not on vacation…ha!) but it’s nice to have just in case. The ironing board makes a good place to set a small suitcase! Silverware is very random - and it would be nice to have a bit more - but that’s not a huge deal to us. Just a heads up. The patio furniture consists of two small hard rattan chairs and a small table. I’d recommend having comfortable camp chairs as an alternative. The patio did have 2 camp chairs tucked away in the corner, but we brought our own, so did not use. They do supply a few soap pods to do some loads of laundry and some loads in the dishwasher. If you do more than 2 loads of either, might want to bring a few extra pods from home or just buy a few at Walmart. They also supply a roll of paper towel, a sponge and a tiny dish soap bottle for hand washing - which is nice. A few rolls of TP and some bathroom soaps/lotions are provided. (Hotel-style) Bring your own shampoo and conditioner, of course. One bathroom has a good sized soaking tub and the other has a large glass shower. Perfect, IMHO. Travel Tips - Here are some things you may want to bring - or be willing to go without or purchase at the nearby Walmart: Pizza cutter Chip clips Food storage containers/baggies/plastic wrap for leftovers, etc Kleenex/facial tissue Hair dryer Beach towels (and possibly a few more bath towels). (Maybe they have pool towels down by the pool, but I didn’t see anything. And it’s a condo - not a hotel, so you probably have to bring your own.) Plastic cups/bottles with lids if you want to have beverages (adult or otherwise) by the pool area. Salt/pepper Coffee filters (normal flat-bottom filters for 8-12 cup coffee pot) HIGHLY recommend bringing a large foldable cart with wheels to transport groceries, etc back and forth from the parking garage. That’s what the permanent residents have and it’s brilliant. If you’re road-tripping here and can bring one - do it! But we survived without it. Small container of oil or cooking spray. Balcony view is to the East - morning sunrise! Overlooks vast parking lots and the main road running along the ocean, as well as commercial Property roofs. It’s not a lush view. However, You have a clear view to the ocean (in the distance) overlooking Henderson State Park - which was perfect!!! No tall condo units blocking the view!!! That was a nice surprise! This condo is on the 8th floor and about 2 doors down from the elevator which was great. We could walk to the State Park if we wanted to. There is a shuttle at the condo that takes you to and from the beach but it only operates Fri at 9am until Sunday evening. We stayed outside of that window so we’re not able to utilize it. Fine for us - just FYI. The restaurant on-site seems to have decent prices, but we did not try it. Workout facility is large and equipment variety is very good. Equipment feels a bit old and well-used but you can still get in a great workout. They have a variety of free weights, a few benches, several treadmills, a bike or two, many elliptical and quite a few machines to hit every muscle group. Really liked the pool area.
