Making Maine our home has been the best thing we ever did. Such expansive beauty, so much calm, wonderful art, creativity, outdoor beauty and kind people who appreciate our wonderful history of coastal life and want to share and protect it, makes us very grateful to be here.
Hosting for 14 years and having hundreds of guests, our goal is to assure quality and the peace and calm you expect. A unique property and hosts on site to assist with questions to assure a wonderful stay.
All photos are of this waterfront, certified organic farm.
Two miles by water to Castine, Newsweek's 2025 Best Small Town in the USA.
Acadia is a hour away and the Blue Hill Peninsula is full of wonderful
restaurants, galleries, hiking trails and swimming.
Recently restored, this space is bright, open and totally comfortable. The kitchen has an old cast iron sink and a full working kitchen, along with antiques and art from the farm. You can cook up a delicious dinner with some fresh lobsters in the kitchen and dining area downstairs. And upstairs you’ll find a comfy queen-sized bed with cozy, seasonal comforters, full bath, and living area. The skylight lets in both the stars and the morning sun and there are many places to relax—inside and out. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine at the outdoor table with chairs and grille.
All set for remote work.

Bikes and Kayaks may be delivered. Kayak lessons are in Castine, highly recommend and various cruises are available. Take a cruise on the Isle au Haut ferry and walk around part of Acadia located on the island, board in Stonington.

John said,
The space was lovely and just what we were looking for - a pleasant, quaint, cozy place to stay near the water, with oodles of charm. Dick and Carol were phenomenal hosts who struck a perfect balance between offering great warmth and hospitality with giving us our space. Carol and Dick were also incredibly knowledgeable of the area and graciously keyed us into happenings nearby. They have my complete recommendations.

A guest, "The entire setting is pristine, peaceful and ready to offer the best of well-appointed accommodations to sea-loving travelers!
"Carol has created a space where guests have everything they need. It is cozy and rustic downstairs and bright and cheery upstairs. We highly recommend.

Welcome to the farm! It has been our greatest opportunity to live in the beautiful place and to share it with our guests. Hosting for many years we have met so many wonderful people who share our love of nature, creativity and the coast of Maine. The farm has been in the family for 200 years and renting has allowed us to keep the surrounding fields and beachfront, we are so grateful for this.
We have raised a large family and have one precious dog living with us now . Our work was in design and building and our love of history and the water has brought us to Maine as our primary home.
Every day we try to make life simpler as we host guests. Our land is certified organic and our greenhouse is full of greens and always available to our guests. We love it when they do a bit of gardening too!
Life in Maine is a very fine thing and we welcome you to our slice of heaven on the coast!
It is always amazing to see how many cultural happenings we have on top of all our outdoor adventures. Writers, artists, and many musicians flock to our community and we love this. We buy our food locally and have farmers committed to a quality we appreciate. Often it is so beautiful here we stay home to walk to the beach or relax looking at the western sunsets. Loving to cook we also love our local vendors and know that our foodie side is complete.
We love the guests in summer and the quiet of the fall and have found a pace here that supports health and creativity. Having grown up in Philadelphia, Maine was always a place visited and I never imagined I would be here full time but, there is really nothing like it in today's world.
Hosting other seekers who appreciate the old and the new and the chance to restore and recover from modern living is really rewarding for us to see.
Making this family farm a place for guests to experience a unique time on the coast of Maine has been wonderful for us. You will find us working about, visiting friends, waiting for family and just being grateful!

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

We chose to be in a place that family had been for 200 years. Coastal farms had two lives, one on land and one on the sea. Rolling fields and oceanfront makes for just about anything one can want. Wildlife, gardens, fish and lobsters, Classical Architecture, sunrise and sunsets, space to breathe, room to immerse oneself in enough space and nature with all conveniences is very unusual now. This is a place where one can restore oneself. Quiet, peaceful and nearby small towns make life easy here. Thia place gives you time to be a human in the best possible sense.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Known as the finest historic home in the area, our totally restored Neo Classic Architectural Sea Captain home, surrounded by beaches and organic meadow land and huge skies and sunsets is totally unique. The blend of old and new assures a true Maine experience. Updated, comfy, rustic, our Barn, Boat House and Apartment have everything one might expect by maintaining the history and updating the basics. Beauty, history, farming, meadow land, wildlife, organic, is all mixed together. Huge skies and a feeling of a time gone by in comfort and exceptional beauty.
The experience is so much more than the buildings, it is truly an living past on the land where family farmed, built ships launched from here and sailed around the world. Related to the 7 Sea Captain brothers of the Tapley Family, the stories are captured in books and in local museums because of the enterprise known here, the land and the sea merge in incredible lives of hearty men and strong women. Wives often took their babies or birthed on board these Clipper Ships and at home farmed alone. A most recent book is here to read of letters and stories of these Captain's and their families and specifically it is this farm and Captain Robert's next door that are focused on.
The Wasson Farm we are on is where 23 Clipper Ships were made and launched. We use the family name Tapley because he was married to a Tapley and that is the heritage here.
We have honored this land and it is organic and in meadow land for wildlife and all that nature needs. It is deeply satisfying to be in a place where chemicals are not toxic and nature is honored but it is here and the land and the connection to the sea makes the Bagaduce Estuary so important to us as our beach is part of this.
Coastal and an outstanding property that is reminiscent of days gone by. An exceptional property that is charming, cozy and remote.
This is the real deal. Come and see us and share this magical place.

Remote but everything you really need is nearby!
