Perfect Mountain Modern Chalet-5 min to the slopes

Pat and Kelly O’Horo are excited to share their beautiful unique home, Chalet Marmot, with you and your family! As parents to five sons, and now with two daughters’ in-law plus five grandchildren, they have learned how to tend to and accommodate many people; they have huge hearts for creating amazing experiences to host those they love.

The name Chalet Marmot is special and intentional. Kelly was raised in Big Bear and attended and volunteered at the YMCA Camp Big Bear. Her camp nickname is “Squirrel.” The Marmot, the largest squirrel is known for it’s warm, loving, and hospitable nature. It’s considered a friend to all in the forest.

Special thought and attention were paid as they planned for, purchased, and renovated this gorgeous space! They wanted something spacious enough to accommodate a large family or two smaller families, while recognizing that while on vacation, people like to do different things!

As a busy trauma therapist, Kelly wanted a space that screams tranquility and luxury. The master retreat does just that! With the crystal chandelier illuminating the vaulted wood ceilings and the pink velour love seat capping off the bed, nestled near a cozy fireplace and seating area, this makes the perfect space for quiet conversation, reading a favorite book, or just simply enjoying a cup of coffee while gazing into the forest.

The Master Retreat also offers a perfect workspace for remote work needs.

As parents and grandparents, they wanted a space that was big enough to hang out and play pool or ping pong, watch a movie, play games, or to simply snuggle with a loved one in their giant couch (dubbed the “cuddle puddle”), in front of the fireplace. All these wonderful things can be found in the large game room.

Our bunk room is inspired by the “summer camp vibe” and will accommodate 8 people in 6 beds (4 twins and 2 queens). Equipped with a meditation corner, a kids club house, and a rock-climbing wall, kids big and small will have a ball in the bunk room!

The main living room and kitchen great room layout is an awesome place to cook and connect in luxury with beautiful cathedral ceilings including timber frame and beams, exquisite lighting, and a cozy fireplace to nestle up to with a comfy throw blanket!
