Big Platte Lake Waterfront Cottage

Come enjoy this shared waterfront cottage on Big Platte Lake!
This well-maintained cottage can serve as a great home-base for your vacation, or as your little "peace" of paradise for the week!
Enjoy swimming from the beach or soak in the sun on the dock. The water in front of the property is shallow and perfect for the kids, or those who want to wade. A picnic table and charcoal grill are available on the patio. TV (Spectrum cable) with Roku and games available for entertainment at night or rainy days.
The rental/cleaning fee includes all linens (pillows, sheets, blankets, comforters, and bath towels).
You will find all you need in the fully equipped kitchen (also provided: dish soap & paper towels, dish towels, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and basic spices).
Shared beach, dock, and fire pit (wood provided).
Please bring your own beach towels and water/beach toys.
Platte Lake is an all sports 2,500 acre lake with small mouth bass, pike, walleye and pan fish. The Platte River is just around the corner and is ideal for kayaking and stream fishing.
Area attractions include: Sleeping Bear Dunes (20 minutes), Frankfort (20 minutes), Traverse City (40 minutes), Crystal Mountain for golfing or alpine slide (20 minutes), and Cherry Bowl Drive-In (less than 5 minutes). In addition, lots of Lake Michigan beaches, hiking, shopping, antiquing, and exploring the great local towns (Frankfort, Beulah, Empire, and Glen Arbor).

Exactly what we wanted!

This lake side cottage was exactly what we hoped for when we booked it. Super clean with everything we could need for our stay. We had a great time sitting out on the dock enjoying the water and at night by the fire. Even with neighbors nearby it still felt private and was the perfect size for our group!

Cozy Cottage on Platte Lake

This is our second time staying at this property and we will go back again when we are able. It’s so lovely with a great view of the lake. The cottage is very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to make a few meals. The beds are comfortable and there is some wonderful seating outside although it was a little too chilly this week to use it. Melissa was great to work with.

Great spot for families!

We greatly enjoyed this little cottage! Clean and well maintained with all the amenities. We loved the views of the lake and enjoyed meeting others in the common areas. Melissa was great and provided all the information well in advance. The Riverside trading post nearby was helpful and offered a great kayaking experience. The sleeping bear dunes was a short distance and beautiful. A great stay to enjoy with your family!

Fabulous location and experience!!

Clean, comfortable, cozy property.Well appointed with all accessories we needed. Wonderful lakefront to use with our personal kayaks. Close to Sleeping Bear, as well as Traverse City, and the wineries on Old Mission. Incredible sunsets and campfire to enjoy with renters from other cabins.

Perfect Cottage

Beautifully appointed Lake front cottage with a fabulous sunset view over the Big Platte. Six adults in our group and we made it work, comfortably. This cottage is 20 to 40 minutes from so much: Sleeping Bear/Frankfort/Glen Arbor/Traverse City/Interlochen.

Wonderful cottage, stunning views

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this lovely and well-equipped lakefront cottage – with a large kitchen, big L-shaped couch, and large dining table, our whole family was comfortable rain or shine. Melissa, the host, was very responsive and super easy to communicate with. We’ll be coming back for sure.

Great week on Big Platte Lake

Super clean cottage with up-to-date furnishings, appliances, kitchen and amenities. We were a family of 3 adults plus 1 young adult in 20's. We docked our boat in mooring and loved fishing and boating. We enjoyed nearby restaurants especially Manitou. Lovely sunrise and sunset view just outside our window.

Platt Lake family fun

The cottage was clean and a perfect location for our family! The lake was shallow enough for our young kids to touch the bottom a ways off shore. Making it fun for them to swim and play. The property owner was very accommodating with our family by bringing us extra linens when needed. Fast communication as well! Would go back!

Beautiful cottage

We stayed for a short weekend and it was fabulous! Melissa was very attentive. The cottage is just like the photos! We brought our own kayaks and loved taking them out on the lake. The fire at night was fun and my daughter liked the swing in the common area. My kids are already asking when we can go back. Thank you!

Lovely place and lovely neighbors!

We loved the cabin in front of Platter Lake. When we arrived we’re a bit concerned about privacy as there are other 4 cabins very close to each other. But we ended having a lot of fun with other neighbors, specially the kids that as soon as they woke up they went outside to play with the other kids in the lake. The cabin is really nice too! There were some kitchen things that we missed like a good knife for BBQ (there was only a little one and a bread knife), a grater, things like that, and no hairdryer, which normally these rentals have. But not big of an issue and there is a big grocery shop when you can get anything. The area, landscape and beaches in Lake Michigan are just breathless, we loved having different beaches and town to explore. Melissa, is amazing super diligent and always easy to reach. We’re truly grateful for having had this great vacation in an incredible place!

Fall Get Away

The Big Platte Cottage is charming and cozy! The view of the lake is beautiful and inviting. We found the place to be very clean and nicely decorated. We made breakfast every morning so it was nice to find salt and pepper as well as oil to cook with. They provided plenty of dishes and glasses as well as pots, pans and bowls. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and it was nice to settle in for the night after a day of hiking. We were able to explore the Sleeping Bear Dunes as well as other hiking trails in the area and the fall foliage was spectacular!! We also saw mallard ducks, deer and a fox in the area! We would love to return in the summer and go swimming in the lake. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us and for a wonderful stay!

Family gathering on Platte Lake

My husband, adult daughter, and I stayed in this cute cottage for 3 nights. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed to make breakfasts each day. We met up with extended family a mile or two down the road also on Platte Lake. The sunsets were breathtaking every night. We would certainly stay here again.

Multi Cottage Complex. Cottages Vary in Size. Shared Community Space Runs down middle of Complex. This is good knowledge to share,In case you are looking for more serenity or more of a social visit. We enjoyed our visit at Four Seasons .

Wonderful Getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay here at The Platte Lake Cottage. Very comfortable and cozy, all of the amenities you need! The lake was beautiful, the sunsets were amazing. Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake MI are so close by. We also had the chance to see the Salmon running up the Betsie River! Our grandkids loved it. Thank you for being a super host!
