Home in the Country near Alfred NY

Bookings for the rest of 2025 are being taken now. Stay in an circa 1837 Greek Revival Farmhouse on 40 acres with woods and fields. Deer and wildlife abound. Dark Sky. There is a pond on-site and field paths to walk on. The pond is not for swimming!

Full Kitchen with dishes, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, stove, refrigerator, etc.. King size bed. Sheets and Towels included. Central heat plus a Gas Fired Stove for cold nights. Fiber optic internet service. Roku basic service for 2 TVs. Downstairs only for rent includes 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, 2 additional spaces. Enclosed Porch.

Near Alfred University and Alfred State College.

Centrally located for all of your WNY Adventures: 10 Minutes to the Alfred Ceramic Museum and 50,000 acres of State Forests for hunting, hiking and Cross country skiing.
20 minutes to Tall Pines ATV Park, Kent Brewery, Wellsville Brewery and Railhead Brewery. 20 minutes to Genesee River Wilds kayak launches and trout fishing.

Less than an hour to Letchworth State Park, Swain Ski Resort, Stony Brook State Park, Rock City Park, Allegany State Park, Finger Lakes Wine tasting and Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, Corning Historic Gaffer District, Corning Glass Museum Norman Rockwell Museum and Rochester NY places including Strong Museum of Play, Seneca Park Zoo, Genesee Country Museum, George Eastman Museum and more. Buffalo & Niagara Falls is about 2 hours out good for day trip. Then come relax and get away from the bustle and chill out for an extended stay. Need trip planning help send us a note.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a very old house that has steps between almost every room. It is also located on a sloping property. If you have mobility issues this is perhaps not the place for you. If you have questions or concerns please reach out before booking. No large parties or events are allowed.

Beautiful Views!

We had a wonderful stay! The views from the pond are spectacular. We enjoyed fires every night in the fire pit. Spacious and well maintained old house. The owner was easy to reach and responded within minutes. Would stay again.

Great farmhouse rental

The farmhouse is a cool historic building and comes well stocked with all essential items for a comfortable stay. The description is very accurate. There are great views from the property and hiking the woods was fun. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will rent this again when we visit the Alfred area!

Business in the area

Our stay was lovely! The grounds are beautiful and home spacious, accommodating, clean and well stocked. Kier was always connected--before and during our stay--and he made the process very easy. Can't thank him enough! It was an enjoyable stay all around!

Perfect for Alfred University out of town Parents

We chose this place cause it was close enough to Alfred University where my daughter attends. It was move out weekend so we needed to be close enough to move her out of her dorm. The host made it super easy to access the property and was very accommodating. Definitely will be on my list to stay at again for the next 3 years.

Beautiful old house in the country

This place had everything we needed plus easy access to many of the places we were interested in visiting - Letchworth state park, Rochester, Wellsville, Alfred, Corning & the Corning museum of glass. The owner of this property is very easy to contact and offered to meet us at the door of this house when we arrived to help us move in and show us around.

Peaceful, quiet setting in the country

Nicely furnished farm house in a quiet, wooded setting. Listen to the breeze through the trees. Lots of deer visiting the property throughout the day. 5 minutes from Alfred University. Perfect location. Expect to sleep in every day!

We were looking for a nice place to stay in Alfred that was close to Alfred State college. This was it!! We were able to bring my son back and make him a home cooked meal for dinner. We were only 8 min away so bringing him back and forth was easy. We will be staying here again.

Solid spot for a weekend retreat

This rental is perfect for urbanites looking to get out of the city. It has everything you could need to spend a quiet, relaxed weekend in the outdoors. Plenty of thrift shops in relatively close distance. Obly potential downside is - do not expect to use delivery services for food. If you want to eat good here, youll most likely be cooking.

Great Stay!

My husband and I needed a place to stay while visiting our daughter and her family in the surrounding area. The property was perfect for our needs. While it is one floor living, the property is layed out wonderfully, and is quite spacious! Everything was as described as advertised. The property was extremely clean and inviting. We had our granddaughter over for 2 nights and she was extremely comfortable in the 2nd bedroom. We will definitely consider this property for future visits. And as a noteā€¦.. MANY properties in the area would not rent over the New Years Holiday, so a special Thank You to Keir for taking a chance on us.

The floors in the house or not very level.

The water coming out of the faucets, had a sulfur smell, and when you babe, then it was very oily the bathtub and shower for a little bit difficult to stand on because of the slick surface.

Mold

There was an overwhelming smell of mold as soon as we entered. Two, in my group of four, are allergic to mold and our throats started to close up within minutes of entering the home. The owners are clearly aware of it because there are damp mold packs everywhere. The two of us ended up having to find another place to stay for the two nights and we ended up paying for our part of the vrbo because it wasnā€™t fair to the others. We, obviously, will not stay there again.

This is a place to drop out of modern city living into a time from decades ago. Few nearby nearby neighbors and easy to sit back and enjoy the country setting.

Not the city. Not near a city. Yet within an hour of things you want to do like artisans, ceramic and glass museums, see your kids at the colleges, visit the #1 State Park in the country at Letchworth State Park. Go Hunting in the nearby State Forests and fishing in the Genesee River and Canisteo River.
