Enjoy the beautiful views as you walk out of the open floor plan living room onto your private back deck overlooking the magnificent Atlantic Ocean and miles of undisturbed beach in either direction. Enjoy a beautifully appointed home, with all the amenities you need to entertain family and friends. Spend your days with your toes in the sand, watching picturesque sunrises, and walking to any of the great restaurants close by.
Kill Devil Hills is home to some of the most iconic places on the Outer Banks, including the Wright Brothers Memorial, Avalon Fishing Pier, and so much more! Your vacation will not fall short of activities if you are an ocean enthusiast; fishing, surfing, and swimming are right outside your back door!

Family Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location right on the beach was perfect. House was starting to show signs of age, but still perfectly fine. Only issue was parking. Sand has blown over more than half of the driveway and difficult to get 3 vehicles parked.

The location is truly what makes this house, being right on the beach was fantastic, and you really can’t beat it.The house itself is older and naturally shows some wear and tear from being a beachfront property. Some areas, including the bathrooms, are a little dated and could use some updating, but everything was functional and comfortable. None of this took away from our stay.The rental agency was also wonderful to work with. Communication was excellent from start to finish, they were responsive, helpful, and did a great job keeping us informed throughout the whole process.For us, you’re really paying for the incredible location, and it was 100% worth it. We had an awesome week, loved being steps from the beach, and would definitely come back!

We LOVED our stay at Summer One. It is truly a magical location, right on the beach with ocean views from almost every window. There are no close neighbors so it feels like a private beach and it’s close enough to the water that my school-aged kids could go on the beach and I could watch them from the porch. It would be a great place to bring grandparents who can manage stairs (to get into the property) but aren’t quite comfortable walking in sand, because they could be part of the action without having to be on the beach. The property is well-cared-for without feeling fussy. We look forward to coming back soon!

We stayed 4 nights and had the best view of the ocean. This home is directly on the beach! It is conveniently located near grocery stores, restaurants and things to do for fun. This home could use some updating but overall I would stay again. Everything worked and water pressure was good. You do have to bring your own bedding and towels unless you pay the 250 to have them included with your stay. Also, you have to bring dishwasher soap, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. You get a welcome bag with travel size essentials only.

Great location

We enjoyed our vacation at this house on the beach. It was an excellent location and enjoyed sunrises and enjoyed watching the moon over the ocean as well. We saw dolphins playing very close to the shore. I recommend it.

Stormy Stay

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place feels like a money grab, considering fees, but have to pay extra for linens. For that price, you would expect basic cleanliness, maintenance, and attention to detail — unfortunately, that was not the case.There was visible dust and grime throughout the property, a broken sink, and fans that constantly squeaked. The ceilings and floors are noticeably uneven, and the property overall feels poorly maintained.A large pile of sand took up much of the parking area, realistically leaving only one usable spot. This made loading and unloading extremely difficult, especially with kids and belongings. The property manager next door told us the sand had been there for quite some time, despite email communication making it seem like a recent issue. There was no effort to help us find a solution so we could safely park two cars.After the storm, our stairs were washed away. Someone eventually put caution tape around the area, but only after I called about the broken sink. There was no proactive communication or follow-up — not even a simple acknowledgment that the stairs had been damaged or an offer to help.Overall, it felt like the focus was on collecting as many fees as possible and turning a profit rather than maintaining the property or providing guests with a clean, safe, and properly functioning place to stay.

The location of the house was great. It could use a little bit more up keep. It has broken blinds, some doors don’t shut all the way, uneven floors. The beach front deck is amazing except for windy days. Overall it was a great stay at a great location.

Great location!!! Easy to get on the beach, and quick drives for groceries, food, entertainment. Hotbwater outdoor shower is great!! Parking is difficult with larger vehicles due to all of the sand that was on the driveway. Overall clean, but tub was unusable due to buildup. Broken blinds, uneven floors, and doors that dont open or close well. Overall okay stay.

Great location!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It's hard to get closer to the beach and the layout is the house was great. It's proximity to shops and restaurants is nice too. Unfortunately, the floor has settled so the vinyl plank tiles are needing repair, the ac vent in on of the bedrooms leaked onto the queen bed below and the rug in the hallway is held down by a metal strip that's a hazard. Overall, we recommend this place with a few minor changes.

Absolutely stellar location. Being 40 yds from the water is unbeatable. The house is what you would expect being right on the beach and subject to constant beach conditions. I would absolutely book this again. Having said that let me set expectations. The place was spotless but it has clear signs of age. The floors are much like the ocean, wavy and soft in some spots. The bottoms of the doors are tattered and the bottom gap could be 1/2 inch or 3 inches from room to room. The AC rocked and kept us cool without issues. Bathrooms and showers were good. Plenty of hot water. We didn't use the washer/dryer but the appliances all look to be fairly new. Parking under the house kept the car cool during the day. There is a lot of sand under the house. Again to be expected but it really makes the shower and the hose location pointless. A hose on the deck to rinse off before entering the house would be helpful. We used cups of water. Again, I will absolutely book this again but just watenef to set expectations. I have no doubt

Ten steps to the beach

Deck and location were an A right on the beach! Living, dining, kitchen were B- OK, but not the best. Baths were a C…just OK. Bedrooms were C to C. The house is older and has had some repairs. Side screen door does not fit, water entered around sliding doors in storm, and floors were uneven and spongy in places.

The only items that need attention are the rocking chairs on the deck as both were had a broken arm. Other items can be easily overlooked as we rented the house mainly because of the location on the beach.

Sister Trip

You are paying for the view. There are no extras i.e coffee, salt/pepper, pizza cutter. A/C not working, window units put in. Dishwasher broken. No biggie, we washed our own dishes. Washing machine flooded everywhere however they promptly fixed. Has not had a thorough cleaning for some time. The nightly rate is very excessive for the condition of the house but the view is exceptional.

Our stay

We had several mishaps with our rental. I do believe enough to try another company next time. Rental was great for location. The rest need some work. Staff was quick to respond via message. I had the “linen people” knock on our door after 9pm telling me some story about a part they were looking for like day three of our trip. Mind you the sliding doors on the deck wouldn’t lock. I did let them know. Got the one fixed but not the other. So safety was low on satisfaction for us. They said they just got the property I booked the place in November so plenty of time to fix remedies. Just my honest review. I’ve stayed in other nicer beach fronts for same price range in the Outer Banks.

Fantastic Location and Views

Overall a beautiful beach vacation spot and very relaxing. The property is situated in a perfect location on the beach with great sunrise beach views and access all day. Short walk to pier. The property itself was clean and the management was great and responsive and we accessed on time with a code on door. The home has decent furnishings and ample space for our family with a newer deck and a few beach items if needed.This would have been 5 of 5 but for the steep price for the week the home does have a few opportunities that should be addressed such as some fogging slider windows, very sand covered driveway, many broken blinds and it would be nice to have screens on windows to listen to the ocean without opening the doors. Floors slope but for the age of the property its something to to just deal with for the location and worth it. Just needs some simple updates to fixtures and whatnot and this place is a gem!Outside of these opportunities you won't find a better location if you're looking to lounge at the beach or see sites in Kitty Hawk. Definitely better than the last site we stayed at and I would recommend it.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property's location is the best, right on the ocean with an uncrowded beach. Overall I give this property a 4/5. It just needs some TLC. There are some easy repairs that the owners should take care of. The AC vents leak on the beds, master bath tub need new caulking, the pillows are in unusable condition and the kitchen pots and pans are beyond their years of use. We bought new pillows(took them home) and had 2 pans that could be used for cooking as we cook in a lot. I would return to this property, it was very clean with a great location. I would just pack pillows and pots and pans. Hopefully the owners can give this cute cottage some TLC in the off season.
