"The Villa" - Private Cottage with Views & Shorefront

This private, comfortable camp sits on a hill overlooking scenic Roberts Harbor on the east side of Vinalhaven island. A wooded, single-lane road opens to a clearing where this one-level, shingled camp awaits with its pretty ocean vistas and 400' of secluded, picturesque shoreline. Visitors are treated to ocean views from the family room, dining area, kitchen, and two ocean-side bedrooms. The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling and its own bathroom with shower. One guest room has three twin beds. The smaller guest room has one twin bed. Newly renovated kitchen.

Enjoy your morning coffee or a good book on the front deck. From there, you'll likely see ospreys and bald eagles cruising by overhead. A very short walk takes you to the shore where you can sit and enjoy more of what makes Vinalhaven like no other place on earth.

Vinalhaven boasts the largest lobster fleet in Maine. Pick up some fresh lobster in town for a dinner to remember. Take a leisurely walk (town is just 1.5 miles away). Bring a picnic to Lane's Island Nature Preserve with its pristine, protected shoreline. Watch the busy fisherman at the docks while enjoying casual dining in town. Come get away from it all.

Heaven in the midst of a pandemic!

We cannot have asked for a more wonderful week in Maine - especially in the midst of this pandemic. Dana was a most wonderful host and the cottage was just about perfect. My young-adult sons and I had all we needed at the cottage and were so glad that we rented kayaks (Maine Sports Outfitters in Rockport). We were unable to get our covid test results before arriving and self-quarantined, but we had a wonderful vacation in spite of that. We loved the fresh vegetables from Dana's farm and lobster delivery from Addison. My only caveat to those coming is from my hard-lesson-learned when we almost missed the ferry: make sure you really read-up on the procedures and times to arrive early! What a wonderful stay! Thank you, Dana!

Peaceful times amid pandemic

The property owner bent over backward to make sure we would have a comfortable stay in spite of the COVID-19 restrictions set by the state of Maine, helping out with groceries and wonderful produce from her farm while we waited for our test results. The house was perfectly calm and lovely. It has a great deck with comfortable chairs and a beautiful view, lots of trees, fern and berries. There is easy access to the water for swimming - just bring sandals to cross rocks and seaweed. Only note of caution for those hoping to stay connected with the outside world is that the wifi was not always reliable, with limited cellphone service around this part of Vinalhaven as well. Bring books instead!

Perfect location and weather!

Our second time staying at the villa. We love it here! Remote, but close to town. Water access, but also away from the water. Fantastic views of the ocean, breathtaking sunrises, thunder storms. We definitely would like to return.

Excellent again

This is our second year staying on vinalhaven at this property. We and our kids again thoroughly enjoyed it. It is easy to bike into town and we made full use of the private Waterfront. Once you get used to the water it's not that cold! The quarriess are also a favorite for our kids to swim in. We highly recommend the property. It is clean, well-appointed, full up light nd excellent views of the ocean.

The Villa in July

We had a fantastic week at the Villa. Loved the spaciousness, the views, the peace and quiet, the closeness to the Roberts Harbor Farm. An ideal location for urbanites who want to get away from it all.

Wonderful property

We had a wonderful 10-day stay at Dana's property. It is a beautiful house with sunlight throughout and views of the ocean. You have your own private beach and Rocky Point and we did go swimming several times. Once you get used to the water it's actually fine :-) It is an easy bike ride into town for a coffee. We would certainly love to go back. The only downside was the internet which was very spotty. This may have been a blessing in disguise as we got our kids off the internet for 10 days!

quiet yet close to town

lovely get away from it all spot. very private, yet close enough to town for shopping, dinner etc. close to the quarry and the state beach for swimming. The Villa was bright and airy with a fresh breeze that helped chill things down on what was a pretty sultry week. Lovely pathway down to a private waterfront space was well used and enjoyed. A great spot to hang out. Some places overstate the number of people that can be accommodated. While I travel solo there is little doubt that 4-6 could easily find space and privacy here..down to the several chair groupings on the deck. A great family spot. Thanks Dana for gracious hospitality ..I love the Vinalhaven community

Loved the Villa!

We loved the house! It was so private and yet so close to town. It was a wonderful place to entertain guests with its 3 bedrooms and 2 baths--always so good to have 2 bathrooms when you are entertaining. We loved the ocean front location. The stars we could see at night were amazing; we could even see the milky way. The hosts were great, very helpful and yet they respected our privacy. This was a second trip to Vinalhaven and we hope to return in the future. Its a magical place.

Great base for exploring a large, diverse island..or retreating from the world

This was a very comfortable base from which we could drive around Vinalhaven to the many hiking trails and kayaking sites. We brought bikes too but were too busy with other activities to use them. Highlights included trips to Seal Island and North Haven. The house would be an even better place to just retreat from the world with a stack of books given the huge deck and stunning views east to Isle-a-Haut (and long bumpy driveway that made you think twice about leaving too often). The large, well-equipped kitchen would also lend itself to a week of preparing memorable meals.

Private cottage on Roberts Cove

We really enjoyed our stay at the Villa. It was great to have towels and linens provided, a well equipped kitchen, and two bathrooms. The views were fantastic. We love Vinalhaven!

Love all the Updates

I just loved the new bedroom linen updates. The Master bedroom transformation was so beautiful. I loved the single bedroom too! The kicker were the two ceiling fans, one in the Master and one in the kitchen. I didn't get to use the grill this time but that is great addition for next time.
