Did not get the experience I paid for - owner was combative and extremely unreasonable
I let the owner know I rented this house to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday. We rented the house because the pool was listed as heated with a hot tub. Upon our arrival the pool was dirty and freezing cold. I let him know and he said he would turn the temperature up. The hot tub was freezing cold as well. We did not get to use either on our first day. The pool and hot tub automatically shut off at 11pm. (You’re not allowed to use it I’after 11pm) that same night I turned the tub on in the house to take a bath and a strong burning smell came from downstairs and all the alarms started going off in the house. Anytime I tried to run a hot bath the smell occurred and the alarms went off so I wasn’t able to use the jacuzzi tub either. That next Morning, my boyfriend and I woke up with ants literally crawling all over the bed and floors. I took pictures and a video and sent to the owner. The hot tub and pool is still freezing cold. The owner says he is turning up from his phone but neither are warming up. The entire second day we were not able to use the pool or hot tub later that night I let him know I wasn’t happy with these things that have occurred and we only had one more full day in the house and we were upset that we had not been able to use either the pool or the hot tub and it was the main reason we booked. I asked for a partial credit because of all the issues and the fact that we were not getting the full experience we paid for. The owner said he would have to talk to the manager and get back to us. He never did, I reached back out. The next morning he sent the maintenance guy over to look at the hot tub and pool. Turns out (per the maintenance man) the pool piping needs to be redone. If you look at the pictures the hot tub has a waterfall that feeds into the pool. Well the pool water is recirculated into the hot tub and it spills back into the pool consistently. This prevents the HOT TUB from getting hot. And because the power is cut off every evening it never gets a chance t warm up enough to feel it. So, the maintenance man shut the waterfall off so the water wouldn’t recirculate. This allowed the hot tub to finally be hot, but the pool would not be able to heat at all. The owner refused to acknowledge this was an issue on his end. I didn’t ask for a full refund nor even half I asked for a partial credit because of the many issues and the main reason for booking the house not being as advertised. owner was combative and did not resolve
