The ultimate way to enjoy the starry desert nights in privacy and seclusion awaits you at Friendship House! Our guests love stargazing while unwinding in our jacuzzi spa. You'll be surrounded by 360° mountain views when you arrive. There's plenty of room for your group to spread out, both indoors and outside. The luxurious main house is where you'll find the full kitchen stocked with coffee, tea and spices, as well as an eat-in bar and dining area. There are two separate living rooms to relax in. We offer 2 King Bedrooms & 1 Queen Bedroom. Enjoy 3 full size bathrooms, two which feature luxury soaking tubs. Step out to the salt water pool/spa area and you'll find a hammock and sun chairs to soak up the high desert rays, plus an outdoor shower for an exhilarating experience! Our 5 acres is completely fenced should you desire to bring your pup along. Nights under the stars are even better around our propane firepit, and we also offer a gas grill for cooking out. The property boasts of an EV charger which is complimentary to use. Restaurants and groceries in 29 Palms are just a 15-20 minute drive away...but we recommend stocking up before you come, because we're sure when you get here you won't want to leave. Ask about our all electric ATV/Quad that goes up to 40 MPH!

The layout of the house was very conducive to astrophotography. Nice spacious clean areas with easy access to outdoor patios. This home was very serene and had a lot of nice decorative touches. What I enjoyed most was the views of the high desert from anywhere inside yet it was still very private due to the location. The only drawback was the roads to get there! It did take me 30 minutes to drive the last 3 miles. The house was worth it though and I would stay there again.

So glad you had a great stay Elaine! I just realized we forgot to advise you to take Lear Ave to Winters and to not follow what Waze, Google Maps etc. advises which is a route twice as long on unpaved roads! I'm really sorry about that! Nevertheless, the unpaved, sandy roads can be a bit bumpy and we advise driving 10 MPH on them if one doesn't have 4 Wheel drive. Taking the route I've advised above would not require more than 10-15 minutes on unpaved roads. The obvious trade-off is you likely would not have seen stars like the one's in your beautiful photo in a home off a paved road in a more densely populated area. Some like myself enjoy the offroad adventure into remoteness. I would not recommend our home to people who plan on going in and out of town more than once or twice each day. Hope to have you back again :)

Desert Oasis

Great vacation escape on a 5 acre property. Beautiful home with pool and hot tub. 360 degree views. If you want a desert adventure this is the place. Close to 29 Palms, yet secluded for privacy!

Impressive

This home is a perfect place to get away from everything. Perfectly tucked away in the peaceful desert. The house has all the amenities you will need and is gorgeous. Sitting out late in the hot tub looking at the stars after hiking in the park was our favorite part.

Peaceful Desert Oasis

We had a lovely stay at David & Christine’s desert oasis. Loved having the pool & spa to relax after a long day of hiking. The house is away enough to be peaceful & quiet while still having access to Joshua Tree NP. The bathrooms & kitchen are updated nicely, the bed was very comfortable, & the linens were nice. Christine was very responsive to all our questions.

Great house

We enjoyed our stay at this house and property and our time exploring Joshua Tree NP, about 45 mins away . The dirt roads to and from the home are no joke. Be ready for them. Communication with the host was quick and easy and our kids loved the heated spa!

Wonderful Stay

Beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed. Communication with the host was excellent, very quick to respond. The hot tub was a lot of fun. The casita worked out well, because the young adults were able to stay up past our bedtime in the main house. One minor thing: the dirt roads leading in all directions from the house slowed down travel to the park and anywhere in town quite a bit. Overall a wonderful experience, highly recommend.

Land for days!

The house was just want we pictured and had all the amenities you would need. The property managers were very responsive. The property was more rural then expected as far as driving for several miles on a washout dirt road. However; the star gazing was amazing. In addition, the property is a close drive to JT National Park, which was convenient.

Wonderful escape in the desert

Came here to celebrate my birthday and enjoy the desert in the winter when the temps are more to my liking. I loved the remoteness of this property. While the dirt road to get there was bumpy the whole way, it was definitely driveable and worth the trip to get the feeling of being removed from civilization (amazing stargazing at night!) - while also having stores being a short drive away. The property had a great layout for both hanging out and then privacy when we wanted it. The bathtubs are amazing, the fire pit worked well to keep us warm when outside at night, and the pool/spa area was also great and well used during our trip. Communication with the property owner was quick and easy when needed, and overall, this was a wonderful retreat!

Desert Oasis

Pros: Checkin process was made so easy. House was very clean and prepped nicely. Plenty of amenities, towels, spices, condiments, nice pots and pans. Nice layout of the house with plenty of space to gather. House is modern with really cute decor and upgraded appliances. Bedding and pillows were so comfortable. Communication with host was timely and clear. Neighborhood was quick with not a lot of traffic, very remote, no immediate neighbors. Cons: 2.5 miles of dirt road to get to property, don’t follow map quest, follow instructions provided. Must message host to change hot tub settings, however host responds very quickly. No window coverings, except for bedrooms. Overall amazing stay, would definitely stay again.

Gorgeous House but Lack of Attention to Detail

The house was gorgeous and even better than the listing photos. However, the attention to detail did impact the quality of our stay. There were things that were falling apart and exposed screw that could have harmed somebody. General repair work would have solved this. We had to troubleshoot the spa and breaker ourselves for it to work. Convenience of using the amenities was not there upon arrival. The first night we were not able to use the spot or fire pit. We only stay two nights, so basically half of our stay was not working for us. The host was responsive and helpful, but luckily we were able to figure things out ourselves. Guest may not be that tech savvy. Some of the cleaning supplies were out of stock and did create more work for us. Overall, we had a great time at this listing, but probably would not book again for those reasons when there are other options available in the area.

Hi Jennifer, apologies about the pool chairs that the sun melted. We have since disposed of them and have removed all exposed screws. I’m sorry about the breaker needing to be reset in the spa. It is very atypical for guests needing to do this. The gas in the fire pit is connected to the house and could’ve been used during the entirety of your stay. I’m sorry you weren’t able to figure it out the first night. We have made instructions for use clearer since. We’re glad you all had a good time and enjoyed the house despite these issues.

Desert Oasis

We had a great stay at this house and casita and the host communicated well. The property was as described in the listing except that I can’t remember if there was a description of the road to the house in the listing itself or if it came with the directions to the house. Just know that half of the drive from town to the house will be on sandy, very rough roads. We didn’t drive over 20 mph. The only other issue we had was that the main door from outside into the casita is directly into the bathroom, and that door is mostly glass. There should be some sort of blind or other covering for the large window in the door. Unfortunately, it was cold, windy, cloudy, and rainy during our stay so no night sky views. But we were treated to some beautiful rainbows!

Beautiful Decor Sketchy Location

The interior of house is nice and cute. Very clean. The mattress in the casita was uncomfortable felt like a crib mattress and pillows were hard foam.. The bed rattled every time my husband and I turned on our side. We woke up many times due to bed making creaking sounds. The bed is pretty and new but it needs to be adjusted and I highly suggest new pillows and mattress. The neighborhood is far out on a very sandy dirt road. Many of the houses in the area have been abandoned and destroyed. I didn’t feel completely safe nor felt my belongings were safe when we left the property for the day. For rating, it was difficult to rate because it’s decorated really nice and the interior is new but all in all we wouldn’t stay here again for the other reasons stated. Pretty hot tub and pool!

Hi Jacquelyn, we regret to hear that you were uncomfortable with the casita bed. We offer the memory foam pillows as an option because some people do prefer a firmer pillow. But because not everyone does, we also have the set of fluffier pillows on the bed for a total of 4 pillows per bed. We feel that this gives everyone options and it's easy to set aside the pillows you don't prefer. Also, we do try to make it clear in our listing that our property is secluded. That's one of the reasons many people choose us. Stargazing is one of the best features of our location, and you can't have dark enough skies to see so many stars unless you get some distance away from the town lights. We hope you understand that it is a trade-off. (And the abandoned cabins are part of the "desert charm" that you will see on almost any road in the high desert if you take the time to explore more.) We are sad to hear the property wasn't what you hoped for, but we thank you for staying with us and being wonderful guests.

Neglected Potential

Despite the obvious renovations and upgrades to the living spaces, my biggest problem was the cleanliness. In that respect, the property felt neglected. I found lots of human hair in the bedroom that I slept in and an uncleaned bathtub in the adjoining bathroom. (The mattress in that bedroom was terrible - lumpy and hard. I woke up every morning aching on one side or the other.) Moreover, the kitchen where we spent the most time was the biggest disappointment: There were dishes in the sink when we arrived and the ones put away did not look and feel very clean. (We ended up cleaning all the dishes before we used them.) The insides of the drawers were filthy with food/crumbs and dirt. I ended up pulling everything out to clean those items and wipe the drawers out. We were there over Christmas and so we had brought lots of food and planned to do a lot of cooking. We were very disappointed in the available pots, pans, bakeware, tools, etc. - totally inadequate. (We have stayed in many rentals at a comparable nightly rate and have never had such poor quality and lack of basic cookware.) It was very difficult to cook. In truth, some of those pans need to be thrown away. They're gross. At the price, you really should have a clean and well-appointed kitchen. I've never been anywhere where I felt like I had to clean everything before using it. It put a damper on having confidence that the rest of the house was actually clean. I had to put blinders on to relax and enjoy. Lalalalala!

You'll have total privacy and seclusion, a place for your pets to safely run free in our fenced-in 5 acres, and our co-host is very responsive with any questions or concerns you may have. The views out here are amazing, you can see both sunrise and sunset with mountains all around you, and our weather tends to be excellent all year round! (Summers can get hot, but we have the pool to cool off in and the spa for relaxing under the stars!) Oh-the stars! You won't find better star viewing than out in the sparsely-populated outskirts of Twentynine Palms!
