Five year old vacation home in a fabulous location just a few minutes walk to downtown St. Johns. Magnificent walking trails right at your doorstep. Large deck with great views for entertaining. 2 Bedrooms, each with Queen bed and ensuite bathroom. Very comfortable Queen sofa bed suitable for another couple in the main living area. Third bathroom complete with oversized shower on the main floor.

The home, with its abundance of windows and roomy deck had fantastic views of the waterway - with the Narrows to the left and St. John’s Harbor to the right. We found the home to be attractively decorated and very comfortable.

Wonderwall of views and trails

Beautiful views of the ports. Hiking up the steep streets to get to the house kept us in Shape. It’s about 45 minute walk to George street festival This house has all the kitchen supplies Thank You Wonderful helpful host. Would stay here again.

This property is beautifully situated in The Battery, St. John’s. The layout of the house is perfect for making meals and looking out over the St John’s narrows as boats of all sizes come and go. Coffee or wine on the deck really drives home just how much of an oasis this place is. My fayghtef and grandkids loved it there. Will be coming back some day for sure.

Beautiful modern and clean property . Fantastic location . Great deck looking out onto the narrows and the harbour . Couldnt have asked for a better spot. Had a minor plumbing issue and the owner / host had a local guy drop by immediately to fix the issue .

Fantastic Stay Highly Recommend

I am a local short-term rental owner who was staying here after a flood at my house. I like to think I've got one of the best patio views in the city but this surely takes the cake.The location in the battery is perfect and if you're not from here it has to be one of the most unique micro-areas of any city in the country. It almost feels like you're in a rural town but is literally minutes from the heart of the city.The house is cozy and comfortable with all the amenities that you need but let's be real, if you're booking this place it's for the location and patio view and that cant be beat.That said I still hope you find and book my place instead but I won't self-promote on someone's review haha.

Beautiful view of harbour but not exact to pictures - a lot of overgrowth of trees prevented the view advertised - access was a lot of stairs down to property which was never warned and no real parking - local owners did not like us parking in the public areas - inside the house was nice.

The Perfect Place To Stay

Such a wonderful place to stay! Close to everything and an amazing view from the large deck. There were four of us, and with the two bedrooms and three baths we were so pleased with the property. Highly recommended and would definitely book again. Perfect for two couples.

A magical place so far away and yet right in the city!

A dreamy location on the Battery with gorgeous views and right by the wilderness of Signal Hill and yet a short walk to restaurants and pubs. The house is beautiful with lots of wood and a wall of windows overlooking the Narrows and crashing waves! The kitchen and bathrooms are well appointed and although this was our third visit of week long stays, we’d come back in a heartbeat!

Excellent location.

Property is a great location an 30 minute walk to good restaurants and bars both on George street and Quidi Vidi. Also right at start to trail to Signal hill an energetic and scenic walk. Climbers should be comfortable with heights

Great start for our Newfoundland Vacation

All good! Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Location in the Battery district is postcard perfect. Super deck for watching the harbour. Lots of hills and stairs for a walking tourist in St John's, but what a lovely, quiet city. Lots to do in early Sept, and the weather was perfect.

Great Accommodation!

The property has everything you and your guests will need. Spectacular view, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable living room, clean linens, and multiple bathrooms. Each bedroom as an en suite, and there is an additional full bathroom on the main level. The location is on the Signal Hill trail, and only a 10 minute walk from downtown. Host is easily accessible. Highly recommend, and would book this location again if I travel to the area in the future.

Fantastic accommodation

If we ever return to St John’s we will plan our trip around the ability to stay once again at this VRBO. We found this property to be very comfortable and to have everything we needed. The view of the harbour and the proximity to the walking path to Signal Hill added to our enjoyment.

Great Stay!

Loved this property, wish we could have stayed longer! Well equipped with everything you could possibly need, spotless, awesome views. Host gave excellent directions, had no trouble finding it. Wouldn't be suitable for those with mobility issues (that could be said for the Battery in general). Definitely recommend!

Battery hideaway

We had a great stay at this gem of a cottage. The views of St.John's harbour were spectactular. Great location for exploring Signal Hill and downtown St. John's. The unit and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was very well-appointed.

Fabulous place to stay

Located deep within the Battery area of St. John’s, this lovely well-appointed modern home was the ideal location from which to experience great hiking as well as the shops and restaurants of downtown St. John’s. The home had everything I needed and more- with plenty of extras. And the view was spectacular!

Amazing Harbor Views

Loved harbor & ocean views. Great time watching ship & boat traffic. Kitchen & dining area well-stocked & set up so we could enjoy views non-stop. House immaculate & thoughtfully provided everything we needed. Owner very responsive to the few questions we did have. Loved our stay.

Amazing view and beautiful house!

Our house had everything we needed, and then some! We arrived just in time to watch a seagull nesting and then the little ones being born and taking their first steps. It was fun to experience that during the time we actually spent in the house. Sharing my hometown with someone “from away” made me remember the beautify that is NEWFOUNDLAND. It is a bit of a hike from the road to the house….so pack lightly-lugging a big suitcase along the trail was a challenger….but so worth it!

Perfect

This is a great property. The house is spotless and very well stocked. The owner was very easy to deal with and responded quickly to any questions. The location is perfect. Step outside your door and you are on the trail to Signal hill. Easy 5 minute walk to downtown. Nice views from the deck. Would highly recommend

Modern, beautiful house with a great view.

We had a great time visiting this house for a week in August, along with our 2 young boys and my mother. The house is modern, clean and beautiful, and fully stocked with much of what you will need to be comfortable. We hope to visit again in 2 years.

Like a Fairy Tale!

We have rented many places through VRBO over the years and this harbour home has jumped to the top of our list as the place to stay for a memorable vacation. Although we rented in March 2017 to attend the Tim Horton's Brier, the unit was warm and welcoming with all the bells and whistles of a high end home. The home layout is spectacular with the bedrooms located on the bottom of the two-story unit and the living area above. The home front is constructed with windows end to end with spectacular views of the harbour. Watching the ships come and go within the harbour is a sight you will never forget and you might think that the water traffic would create noise, but the home is so well insulated that with the exception of a faint echo of the fog horn, there is complete privacy. The unit is beyond well equipped with loads of dishes, cookware, linens and cleaning supplies including recycling bags and dishwasher soap and laundry detergent. The home is very clean and decorated in an eye-pleasing combination of neutral wall colour and expressive art. The book shelves are loaded with current bestsellers as well as binoculars, puzzles and games. The owners have a binder available with all the details and directions and if there was any information missing, Mike would respond within minutes to the questions that we sent him via text. During our stay, the area was hit by a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds in excess of 150 km, and the home remained stable and we did not feel vulnerable in the least. The only downside is that this unit is unsuitable for people with severe mobility issues as the staircase from the parking area to the home is slippery during winter weather and caution must be observed especially at night. If you are a cat lover, there are also neighourhood kitties that look for attention on your way up and down the stairs and make a good excuse to stop and catch your breath! The home is very spacious and with the bedrooms on a different level, you can take the time to relax away from those travelling with you should you wish. There is also a very spacious and beautiful deck that we did enjoy the day prior to the wind storm. We hated to leave this special place and we will always covet the memories made at "The Watchman's House". Do not hesitate to rent this unit as you will not be disappointed!
