Welcome to the quaint village of Fortescue, a Bayshore community in Cumberland County. The beaches along the Delaware Bay are relaxing and peaceful. Fish, swim, kayak or crab at your leisure. Enjoy acres of protected wildlife refuge along the shore and inland. Close to Turkey Point, Bivalve and historic Millville. Our adorable cottage sleeps up to four people and is walking distance to the State and Higbee's Marinas. Charter a boat or launch your own. Have dinner at the Charlesworth Inn or breakfast at Higbee's Luncheonette. Walk to the beach and enjoy our famous sunsets.

Ken & Suzanne were absolutely wonderful hosts! They were promptly responsive and graciously helpful. Our stay couldn’t have been better. Loved walking along the marina and the beach. We will definitely stay there again the next time we’re in the area. Thank you for everything.

It was so convenient having everything available at the house. This meant that we had to pack so much less. The house was clean and very comfortable. One great thing was we were able to bring our dog along with us. Ken was always available and a really nice guy.

Great beach house

Nice beach cottage near the beach and marina. Went to visit for a family weekend. Everything was just a advertised and the cold drinks in the fridge was a nice touch since it was so hot out. The owner were available when the lock code wouldn't work, it was resolved immediately. Definitely will stay again.

Great place and thoughtful hosts

Fortescue is my family's hometown, so finding a great place to stay at an affordable price meant a lot to me and my sister. This wonderful house is clean and cheerful with lots of light. The hosts provided all kinds of extras, like spices, cold water in the fridge, eggs, plastic bags, cleaning products, coffee, and tea. In the back of the house there is a wonderfully shaded sitting area with comfortable chairs and even a fire pit, which would be great for a stay during the cooler months. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful little house and hope to return soon.

A little beach vacation

We enjoyed this little house in a little fishing village! It's a cute and well-stocked property, very comfortable for 2 people and 2 dogs. While we didn't get around to utilizing the back yard much, there was a nice fire pit area! There is a little beach down at one end of town, however during our time there (end of June) there were SO many horseflies! This definitely isn't a knock against the house and property, but just a note about the area and time of year. We couldn't spend anytime outside at the beach without getting swarmed and eaten up, so we drove to Wildwood Beach instead. But Fortescue is a cute town with a nice marina area, you can charter a fishing boat and get a cool experience there!

Cozy comfort near beach

Relaxing visit. Walk to beach, fish, collect sea glass, great seafood at Red Eye Crab, convenient to luncheonette and bait shop. Really enjoyed our stay!

Fall Fishing Trip

We traveled as two couples for a short fishing trip. We absolutely loved the house and we met the host, (great guy), while we were surf fishing. The house was stocked with everything we could need. We plan to return.

Fortescue. The near by fishing town of far away.

My girlfriend, dog and I rented the Sandcastle for 3 nights. The house was immaculate and recently renovated and the new gas fireplace/heater was perfect during the chilly nights. The property manager was present if needed and has thoroughly stock the property with essential items. If your looking for a near by getaway that is peaceful,picturesque with not much to do other than enjoy Delaware bays scenery and fishing, then this is the place for you. .

Excellent 2nd stay!

This was our 2nd stay and it did not disappoint. Cute, comfortable, beautiful sunrises and quiet community. Our pup loved the beach that was just a short walk away. The cottage itself is so quaint and well equipped with whatever you need.

Fortescue Sea Glass Hunting trip

We had a wonderful time at Fortescue. We go every year to sea glass hunt. This property is the perfect place to stay. Clean and cozy! We love it!

Quiet getaway

My girlfriend, dog and I were just looking for a quiet place where we could take the dog for walks on the beach and have a bonfire at night and this place is perfect for that type of stay.

A Little Slice of Heaven

We’ve just left from our second stay at The Sand Castle, and was just as wonderful as our first stay! Clean, comfortable, and an incredibly friendly small community! It’s got a fishing community vibe, and the residents are super friendly. We spent most of our nights cooking a nice dinner and walking to the beach to see the fabulous sunsets! If you’re looking for nightlife, this is not the place for you! If you want a small relaxing laid back vibe, it is the place for you!

Very cute and comfortable cottage! We enjoyed our stay and appreciated all of the extras like keurig pods, shampoo, etc. We also enjoyed the one restaurant in town, the Charlesworth, with its delightful owner and excellent seafood, and walking on the beach with horseshoe crabs. We look forward to a future visit.
