Quaint brand new 1 BR apt in downtown Collinsville, perched across the street from Farmington River and Rails to Trails. Enjoy the river view from your private deck. Just steps to everything Collinsville has to offer... Voted one of "America's 10 Coolest Small Towns" by Frommer's Budget Travel Magazine. Quaint restaurants, stores, antique shops in downtown Collinsville. Canoe/Kayak/Paddleboard; Fishing; run/walk/bike the Farmington River Rail Trail; hiking trails and Ski Sundown nearby. Summer Music on Main and Farmers' Market; Yearround Friday night music at LaSalle; Winter ski at nearby Ski Sundown.
The space:
Sleeping for 4 (Queen bed in BR, pull out couch in LR). Brand new apartment with charming fully applianced kitchen; living room with pullout couch, TV, eating area; bedroom with queen bed; upscale bathroom with shower; deck overlooking the Farmington River and Rails to Trails. Nicely decorated with hardwood floors throughout.
Guest access:
Stairs from your parking spot lead to your deck (what a view!) and entry in to your apartment. None of the space is shared with anyone else. It's all yours!
Other things to note:
Convenient to all the local private schools. What a place to stay while you visit your student at Ethel Walker, Westminster, Avon Old Farms, or Miss Porters!

Cute in-law style apartment

I only did a short stay (2 nights) but it was super adorable! I will definitely stay again when I'm back in the area.

I had a very good stay at this property. The view that overlooks the water was amazing and the overall location was perfect for me. The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were very nice and I especially enjoyed all the TV channels that were available. I will book again when I stay in CT.

Very nice second floor apt for two within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the river walk trail. Enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the evening to watch the birds on the river and the sunset.

Awesome property with a great view and access

We loved our stay at "When Pigs Fly"! We have family nearby, so will most definitely come back. Access to the Farmington Trail for running and walking was fabulous, in addition to the beautiful and peaceful deck view of the river.

Great Stay

The location was just as promised. The view on the deck is beautiful and the apartment was clean and well stocked with anything you might need. The location is also walking distance to various shops, pizza, restaurants and bars. The river walk across the street is also great if you want to take a stroll. Carol was also great to work with. We’ll be back.

Amazing spot!

We had an amazing stay at River Overlook! The place was extremely clean and had all the amenities you would need. The view from the balcony was spectacular. Carol is an amazing host. She responds quickly to any questions or concerns. There are great recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the booklet she made for guests. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful location

Rented this unit for a nearby family gathering. The listing was completely accurate. The view from the little deck is beautiful. It's just a 2-3 minute walk from a couple of restaurants and bars, and the path along the river is right across the street. Everything in the apartment is modern and clean. Carol was a great host and very attentive to our questions.

A home away from home

What a gem! I felt like I moved into a new place to live even though I was only on a business trip for a few days. Great communication, great area. Nice short walk to the river front walk. I'll be back if I'm in the area again for business or pleasure. Thank you, Carol!

We were in the area for a wedding and found this gem of a listing on VRBO! It suited us perfectly for two nights. The apartment is absolutely charming, spotless, and very well-equipped. Our hostess was very communicative and clear with instructions for checking in and out and left a detailed guide of easy and simple instructions and great information about the area that we would not have known otherwise, for which we were very grateful.My husband and I enjoyed the view from the deck while our kids comfortably spread out inside. We all enjoyed kayaking, paddleboarding, and the pub, cafe, and wine/liquor shop in town (all of which were walkable). We were blessed to sit outside for dinner at the pub and enjoy live music. On Sunday we discovered the farmers market and a pottery sale (we left with several items to remember our visit).I'm sad to say that it's unlikely that we'd be in that area again anytime soon, but if we were we would stay nowhere else but this lovely apartment. HIGHLY recommend to anyone!!! Thank you!

Amazing

I booked this spot for the nights around my wedding so i could get ready. It waa 10mins from my venue and i couldnt have asked for a better space. The attento detail was amazing. Every time we looked around more ans more there was something new thar caught our eye. Things like that really impressed us. Communication waa great and so was the price. Thank you so much for making my big day comfortable and relaxing!

Has everything you need

We stayed for the week visiting family and friends. The apartment has an amazing view of the river and is in walking distance from just about everything in Collinsville. It had everything we needed and some! There were plenary of clean linens, cook and plate ware, cleaning supplies, and local information. Even the small extras like the towel warmer and the actual mint next to the pillows were a great touch. I have to mention how comfortable it was with the air conditioning and ceiling fans. We happened to come during quite a heat wave and the apartment never got too warm and also never got too cold which could easily have happened with the heat outside. We will be making this our first choice when coming to visit going forward.

Great, cozy place to stay in Collinsville

This was a great, cozy place for my wife and I to stay in Collinsville. The rooms were tastefully decorated, in great shape, updated, clean, and peppered with cute artwork based on the "when pigs can fly" theme that always brought a smile to my face when I found another one. The queen bed was very comfortable; the kitchen had all of the appliances, dishes, and cookware we needed; the HVAC system was easy to use and kept the rooms at whatever temperature we wanted; and there was a nice deck with a pretty view of the Farmington River. The location was perfect: within a short walk of several restaurants, the Farmington River Trail (a 10-mile long paved trail along the beautiful Farmington River for walking, running, or biking), a store where you could rent canoes and kayaks to head out into the very calm Farmington River, and a museum (which, alas, we didn't have time to visit). The owner, Carol York, was friendly and provided prompt answers to all of the questions we asked; she also provided a helplul description of recommended restaurants and things to do in the area. We had a very pleasand and enjoyable 1-week stay there.

If I Could Give This Property 10 Stars, I Would

This is without a doubt the nicest rental property that I have stayed at. First of all, it was newly constructed and was pristine. Everything was top notch and high quality. The bathroom was so well done with beautiful tile, wooden floors throughout the rest of the apartment, the high quality kitchen cabinets and the very very comfortable bed. In addition, it was absolutely spotless! It provided us with everything that we needed. The location was perfect for us because we have family close by and in Boston. It was located in downtown Collinsville, so you can easily access the quaint stores, the restaurants, the walking/biking trail and the canoe/kayak rental place. The airport is an easy ride away as are the major highways. You can rest assured that this apartment looks exactly as it is portrayed in the pictures on the Vrbo website. It's actually better in person as there is a calming comfortable feeling as soon as you walk in the door. Carol, the owner was quick to respond when I had a question. If I could, I would rent it for the entire Summer! So, come for yourself to experience what I'm taking about. Bring a couple of bottles of wine and sit on the deck overlooking the river Trust me, you won't regret it if you decide to stay here.

Lovely River View

My family and I had plenty of space in this clean above-garage apartment. Lovely view of the river with binoculars included to observe the water fowl. Quiet location very close to a cute little downtown.
