The interiors are complete according to the traditional tuscan style, with a fine kitchen made of stones, orned with wooden antiques as the living room is furnished with very old sofas, chairs, tables and clocks.
At the first floor, there are 3 bedrooms, with large and high windows orned by tuscan red bricks and furnished with the Letti della Nonna or grandma's bed and wardrobe. Two elegant bathrooms are readily available for your use.
Le Macine has a lush large garden, with wood oven, as patio to have dining outside and a stone path on the bank of the small river that made this oilmill working for more than 100 years.
The small stream that runs nearby makes the atmosphere even more magical and sweet for a romantic dinner.

We had a wonderful stay at Le Macine. It is better and bigger than in the pictures...large rooms with tall ceilings.A great location with good food nearby and an great home base for trips south, to the beach (Viareggio), Pisa and of course Lucca.Bruna, Christina and her husband made sure we were well taken care of and were an easy text away if we needed something.We highly recommend this rental and we hope to be back !

Relaxing stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable house. The house was very well equiped and extremely clean. We even managed to use the pool even though the temperatures were dropping a little.

Lovely lodging in Tuscany

Property is exactly as described and shown in photos and is quite beautiful. Lovely grounds and stream, with gorgeous views of neighboring hills and olive trees. Kitchen served us very well as we cooked much of our own food. Wonderful market short distance away. Would recommend an automobile so one can access Lucca and surrounding areas with ease.

Enjoyed our stay in this comfortable house!

We had a lovely stay at the house! Upon our arrival we found a bottle of wine and some delicious appetizers thoughtfully left for us by Cristina. Any problems we had were quickly resolved by Cristina, and the house was well equipped. The house was updated in terms of comfort and I believe recently renovated from it's original purpose as a mill, but it maintains its "old world" flavor! Loved the backyard too!

Superb location for a family holiday

This is an ideal property for a family. I stayed for two weeks with my two teenage children and we had a wonderful time exploring the stunning towns, beaches, countryside and mountains in the surrounding area. The house is well-provisioned with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The owner, Cristina, looked after us exceptionally well, giving us practical recommendations for things to do as well as helping us to look after the house. The location, in a village about 12 minutes from Lucca, is stunning. The plunge pool was a real bonus on hot days.

Nice and quiet place near Lucca

This is a wonderful place to discover Lucca and its surroundings, from sea to mountain, and from Pisa to Lucca. Cristina has always been helpful with us (for example, there was an important football match on TV that my son wanted to watch, and although the TV set was not properly working, she proposed that we can to their home to watch it !). We have managed to visit all the nice places from the house, and enjoy a peaceful time when coming back in the evening. We also recommend the pizzeria in the village : just perfect !

Small town Tuscany

When we arrived Cristina was there to greet us very nice. Lovely decor and very roomy just as pictured.A beautiful private garden which we used a lot.The location is great for touring the hill towns,the views are amazing.Florence is about an hour away,Sienna near two .We went there after a local gent on a bike said it was nicer than Florence ,and we agree.Best of all the walled city of Lucca is 15 minutes away from the house and it's awesome. We had a wonderful time staying in Cristina's house,thankyou Cristina.

A true Italian experience!!! Our hosts were most gracious and helpful. Such a nice family and wonderful accommodations. Noni taught me how to make espresso! My wife and I stayed 7/8 nights and loved the central location access to tourist spots and the return at the end of a travel day to the serenity and beauty that this property offers. We wanted for nothing. Rural charm complimented by a wonderful Italian family host.. We miss Le Macine and the family.

A wonderful holiday

We had such a fantastic time at Le Macine and can't thank Christina enough for the hospitality shown. The villa was in an excellent condition with everything that we could have wanted. The evenings spent outside were magical and will be a lasting memory for us all. We were a group of 5, - 2 couples and my brother-in-law and the house was just perfect for us and in a great location. We would certainly love to come back to Le Macine and enjoy Lucca again. A very central spot for visiting Florence, Pisa and a trip to the Cinque Terre. We very much enjoyed our stay at Le Macine with our 3 teen-agers. It is in a lovely part of Tuscany at the base of the hills. The farmhouse was rustic and spacious and well furnished. Cristina and her parents live close by and are very kind and helpful. You couldn't ask for a more conscientious host. We enjoyed relaxing under the shady tree in the backyard. And the house was cool inside even as it got warm outside. The tv, internet, dish and clothes washer all worked well. You will enjoy your stay.

Beautiful house in a great location.

The house has a certain charm and is located close to the lovely town of Lucca. We managed to get out to Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa, Bagni di Lucca - all fairly close by. The house is well equipped with pretty much everything you need. We used the air conditioning as little as we could (it was over 30 degrees every day!) - mostly overnight. It cost us 30 euros for the week. There were three of us - any more than 4 would be tight. The plunge pool is a godsend. In the heat we had we depended on it! It is about 18 feet by 9 feet and is just brilliant. There is a lovely pizzeria about 500 metres up a small hill that serves lovely food. Overall, I would recommend this property.

A true inspiration

Our month at Le Macine was everything we hoped for in a 'writing retreat' and more. We were inspired by the Tuscan hills and this beautifully restored, well-appointed, traditional Tuscan property. The owners were welcoming and friendly and did everything they could to ensure our stay was pleasant. They provided bicycles to rent; gave us a lift into Lucca to catch the train, and even provided an extra table so we could write under the tree in our private garden. We found it even more inspiring that the owners are also artists; their accomplished and inspirational paintings decorate the walls of the house. There are two excellent restaurants within walking distance - seafood and gourmet pizza. Actually everything you need is within walking distance, including a supermarket, various delis, and two places for gelato. Le Macine is convenient to Lucca (we biked there three times), where we caught the train or bus, and rented a car when we wanted to tour. Florence, Pisa, Lucca are easy day trips. Cinque Terre is an easy overnight. When our month was over, we didn't want to leave. We highly recommend this property and the owners to anyone who wants to experience the life in the countryside of Tuscany.

US family

We found everything about Le Macine immaculately clean, well stocked, and well organized for our visit. The owner Cristina is a delightful person, who was incredibly helpful in arranging our stay, obtaining a wireless key for internet access, stopping by to bring candles and check in on us one night when the house lost power very briefly in a storm (emergency backup lights were actually present which immediately lit on both floors so we could see throughout the house safely), and being extremely available to meet us to pick up our deposit and return it at the of our stay. Our kids greatly enjoyed the yard, the many toys provided by Cristina, and the pretty antique furnishings throughout the house, and my husband and I appreciated the well-stocked kitchen (including some spices and basics that many rentals don't offer), the functional washing machine, and the very conveient layout of the house including two showers and real privacy between the two floors. It is quite a spacious house which provided plenty of play and spread out space for the two of us and our three children during our five night stay. The listing decription was perfectly accurate, the photos on the website were accurate (though the house and garden seemed nicer than the photos), and the location was as described. We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the 'Black Cat' restaurant down the road in Massa Macinaia. A car is needed to access Lucca and surrounding areas.

Nice countryside holiday with my family and friends

This place is actually better than you could think when looking at the pictures. We had 4 adults and one 9 year old in our company which is quite optimal for this apartment. There are very spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds and lots of cabin space for all your clothes. Living area is also good place to relax after your day and there is basically everything you need in the kitchen.. maybe few more forks and tea spoons would have been good to have. Yard is large enough to enjoy the sun during the day and doing bbq and dining in the evenings. There are sun beds and chairs for everyone to use. Actually we planned to visit the beach more often but only made a short visit once because it was so comfortable and nice to spend time at the house. Also, it saved our time to visit all the nice places around like Montecarlo, Pisa, outlet in Florence and so on in the afternoons after sunbathing in the morning. Cristina took so good care of us before, during and after the trip and ensured we get all the information we need. Messaging was all the time almost instant for whatever question we had. Unfortunately we did not meet because she had to travel elsewhere. However, that was not a problem because her mother took so good care of us onsite (hello there!). So, we did not have to worry about anything but just stay and enjoy.

Sehr schƶne Unterkunft. Die Vermieterin ist sehr zuvorkommend, gibt wetvolle Tipps Ć¼ber die Gegend (z. B. die wunderbare und sehr pitoreske Wasserquelle, wo die Einheimischen ein groƟartiges Trinkwasser holen) und kommt ab und zu diskret ins GrundstĆ¼ck, um den Pool zu reinigen.Das Haus bietet alles, was man fĆ¼r einen Aufenthalt braucht. Der Pooltank ist nicht groƟ, aber es reicht fĆ¼r eine Erfrischung und Kinder haben darin den grĆ¶ĆŸten SpaƟ.Die StraƟe, die direkt am GrundstĆ¼ck vorbei fĆ¼hrt, ist manchmal etwas laut aber am Abend bzw. nachts ist es dort ganz still. Die Gegend ist wunderschƶn - man kann direkt dort tolle Wanderungen beginnen - und das Meer nicht weit (ca. 30 Minuten).Alles in Allem, wir Ć¼berlegen sogar nochmal hinzufahren.

Le paradis sur terre

Maison exceptionnelle en Toscane, dans un magnifique village. Avec toutes les commoditĆ©s Ć  porter de la main. La maison est trĆØs chaleureuse et Christina, trĆØs accueillante. ƀ quelques kilomĆØtres Ć  peine de la magnifique ville de Lucca, les activitĆ©s ne manqueront pas. Pour nous la maison Ć©tait un point central pour visiter les Cinques terres, Pise, Florence et se balader en Toscane. Tout est Ć  moins de 1:30:00 en voiture. Et oui, besoin dā€™une voiture pour se dĆ©placer sauf pour la pizzeria Ć  600m de la maison (meilleur tiramisu que jā€™ai manger de ma vie)

Wundervoller Trip in die Toskana

Wir durften in diesem sehr schƶnen toskanischen Haus 9 Tage bleiben. Die Lage des Hauses ist zwar etwas weitab vom Schuss, so dass man ohne Auto nur schwer wohin kommt, aber trotzdem kann man die Lebensmittel fĆ¼r den tƤglichen Bedarf problemlos zu FuƟ besorgen. Auch ein sehr gutes Restaurant (dringend rechtzeitig reservieren) ist innerhalb von 10 Minuten zu FuƟ zu erreichen und auch ein ausgezeichnetes Eislokal ist im selben Ort. Das Haus st nach toskanischem Stil erbaut und sehr gut ausgestattet. Der Pool ist am Tag fĆ¼r eine Erfrischung genau richtig. Die Klimaanlagen im Schlafzimmer kĆ¼hlen am Abend die Schlafzimmer auf angenehme Temperaturen herunter. Cristina war eine wundervolle Gastgeberin, die immer da war, wenn man sie brauchte. Alles im Allen eine Empfehlung wert.

Great Relaxing Break in Idyllic Villa

Having been to Tuscany before we knew it was a great place but to find Le Macine was a real bonus! Whilst rural, you will definitely need a car to explore, but if staying at the Villa is your thing then there are amenities close by, supermarket, bank etc but especially a family cafe/store called Bar Italia and a fantastic restaurant called La Conca.. best pizza ever!! The villa is as described set out in a traditional Tuscan style and has everything you can need, especially the air con which was needed everyday as temps were 32-36 degrees. This is paid separately but was not expensive so for us is well worth it. Whilst the pool is not the usual sunken pool it is still a great place to cool off and at 5.5m x 2.7m is a great addition at the villa. With Lucca 15 mins max. in the car it is a great base for exploring with places like Viareggio, Pistoia, Montecatino Alto, Montecarlo and fine wineries (try Buonamico Wine Resort, fabulous sparkling Rose!) all well under an hour. However you could spend all your time in Lucca as such an amazing city with lots of activities and fabulous restaurants and bars in an exceptional setting. Trains in Lucca can get you to Florence and Cinque Terre for day trips although both very busy in the hot summer. We had some great times just eating bread, cold meats and olives (all from Bar Italia) in the beautiful villa garden which has a couple of different places to sit and relax and gets the sun all day. There is also a nice BBQ area although we did not use this. Cristina was our contact and she was a delight as check-in was very easy despite a later arrival as well as helping and checking we were OK but never intrusive which made us feel very welcome and basically "at home"! All in all one of the best villa holidays we have had in recent years which is so different from the Iberian experiences but so much better. We will definitely be back as still so much to see and do in Tuscany!!

Nice place to discover Lucca, Viareggio and more

Cristina is a very friendly host and takes care of this nice house. Everything you expect is available which makes this place a comfortable place to spend your time and to use it as a basis for discovering the region.
