Enjoy a truly secluded lodging experience in this mid-century A-frame design - three season - cabin surrounded by contemporary art and furnishings. The ca. 1970 A-frame style structure is nestled in the rolling hills and stone outcroppings of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. This cabin offers "glamping" at its finest! The structure is a available only in spring, summer, and fall! The cabin is heated only by a wood stove (firewood provided) when needed , and cooled by the updraft design of open clerestory windows and sliding glass doors, plus ceiling fans. The full bath and kitchen with all the modern conveniences make "camping" a luxury!

The cabin offers lake views with easy access to swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking. Tucked away on our 300-acre family farm, the A-frame and surrounding property offers the outdoor enthusiast firepits, picnic shelters, a lake beach, volleyball, tetherball, baseball, and basketball. For the indoor enthusiast, the cabin supplies all of the modern conveniences of home including wifi, fully equipped kitchen, luxury bedding, and a contemporary bathroom.

Whatever your style or preference, we aim to make your stay at our property a truly unique and aesthetically pleasing experience.

Located within the heart of Ohioā€™s Amish country - just nine miles from Sugarcreek and nineteen miles from Berlin - our 300-acre farm and A-frame offer convenience to great area attractions, but most of all prized, private tranquility and seclusion. Come get away to a different era or relax with modern amenities. Sit on the front or back deck and feel the serenity of being within natureā€™s solitude. Imagine a time when life was "groovier" and "hipper"! Experience sleeping in a modern loft under the wood canopy and spread out on a contemporary queen-sized mattress. We offer a great location to read, write, make art, hike, observe nature or just relax.

Whether you are looking for a getaway by yourself, as a couple or with your entire family, we can accommodate you. The A-frame provides sleeping arrangements for 2 adults. The first floor has an eat-in kitchen, sunken living room with wood burning stove, and a bedroom loft (accessible via a ladder/stairs -must be able to navigate a steep climb to bed) with a queen-sized bed and private bath. Additional amenities include a Smart TV, games, and microwave.

We came for our 31st Anniversary getaway. The A Frame was very inviting and had a beautiful view of the lake and nature. We were greeted with a welcome basket of snacks and breakfast in the fridge. The property was so peaceful and we loved waking up to the birds chirping and the turkeys gobbling. We enjoyed seeing the deer visit twice a day and hiking the trails on the property. Can't wait to go back and stay again

The entire visit exceeded expectations. The hosts were delightful and super hospitable. Our cabin was stocked with breakfast, fruits and snacks. Clean and private surroundings. The views of this estate is phenomenal. Words cannot describe one must visit to understand. Pack your groceries you will not want to leave when you arrive. Lakes, playground, swimming along with awesome walking trails. Take yourself away from the hassles of everyday and enjoy this peice of heaven.

Perfect Fall Getaway

This a-frame was the perfect getaway to destress and unwind. The leaves were in peak season, and the view from the cabin was of the trees and a pond. The cabin itself was cozy, and we enjoyed the wood stove. It was the perfect weekend.

We had a really nice weekend get away with our family. We appreciated the small touches (muffins, eggs, chips, coffee, etc.), that made us feel very welcome :). The area is beautiful, scenic views and peaceful environment. We would love to go back in the future.

A Well-Curated, Quiet, Gem

The property, communication, check in process and location of this property are all fantastic! We had a nice, quiet weekend away at the property which perfectly fit our needs! The attention to detail/hospitality is something you donā€™t find in many vacation rentals nowadays! Weā€™ll be back, we loved it! PS - there are ZERO issues with the shower pressure as others have noted in the past!

Quiet Tranquility

Second extended stay at the comfortable A-frame cabin. Had everything I needed. Total sense of privacy. Jennifer and Doug are gracious and experienced hosts. Responsive, available yet not intrusive. True Treasure!!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. It was PERFECT! We loved everything about the cottage. We slept so well in the comfy bed upstairs with the amazing fans and open windows. We explored the trails on the property and had a picnic under the trees. The pizza at Park Pizza is top notch. Canā€™t say enough lovely things about this place. We canā€™t wait to come back! Thank you to the fantastic hosts!

Weekend getaway

I used to visit the property before when it was part of APS. I remember very fond memories of the property in my early childhood of the 70ā€™s. I am very happy the property found a smooth transition and is still being taken excellent care of. I was very pleased with my stay as we try once a year to get to it.

Quiet and peaceful getaway

This property was quiet and peaceful. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. There was breakfast in the fridge and snacks left for us. We really enjoyed the walking trials, walking the property and having camp fires. It really felt like a home away from home.

Consummate Hosts!

The Hisrich Hills Farm is one very special place. Quiet. Secluded. No! neighbors. I found the A-frame rustic yet comfortable with a lovely direct lake view. Agree with last guest comment that shower head could be replaced. The hosts, Jennifer and Doug, are friendly, available (live on property) and very responsive. At Doug's suggestion I printed out directions to property since phone service can be spotty and GPS takes you out of your way. His directions were specific and exact. Found the A-frame with ease. Did not expect breakfast, fruit and snacks on the house. So thoughtful and appreciated. Thank you! Found the ideal location to just sit in silence. Beautiful property. First visit. Will return.

Nice getaway

GPS didn't quite get us there but they provided detailed instructions that got us to the A frame without issues. The place was clean and we had a bunch of nice surprises in the fridge waiting for us. The muffins were amazing! The pond had canoes and paddleboats to use which was awesome and relaxing. The hosts were responsive and checked in to see if we needed anything. The only minor things were the shower head could be replaced and the wifi speed was very slow. Overall we enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend the place.

Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer have been married for 30 years and enjoy working and developing our family farm. Doug works as an artist and educator while Jennifer works as an academic advisor. Both enjoy raising their two sons and passing on the property's history to the next generation.

Our farm is located on 300 acres of rolling farmland in the Stucky Valley, of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Originally settled in the 1830's by the Moomaw family, the farm was purchased in 1903 by Doug's great-grandparents, German farmers, Jacob and Emma Hisrich. It has remained in our family for over 117 years.

The farm subsequently passed down to Doug's grandparents, Laura and Vernon Hisrich who lived, raised a family and farmed the property for many decades. After their deaths the main house, outbuildings and land remained underutilized for many years and fell into decline until we purchased them, along with Doug's parents, Ed and Pat (Hisrich) McGlumphy in 1997.

In addition to the built environment, the farm consists of approximately 50% tillable land and 50% woods. In an effort to preserve the property as farmland, a local farmer uses the fields to plant crops for his dairy farm. The remainder acts as a bird sanctuary, as well as habitat for local wildlife.

We enjoy our farm and its family history and invite you to come and enjoy its peacefulness and tranquility with us. It is a labor of love and continues to be an ever-evolving endeavor. There is always something new to look at with each subsequent visit as we always have a new project in the works.

The property also includes a historic 1825 log house (VRBO 489786), contemporary log house (VRBO 2213954), and farmhouse (VRBO 2131667) available for rental through VRBO. If rented together all houses offer a great opportunity for extended family or friends to vacation with each other while maintaining social distancing but enjoying the great outdoors.

The cabin and rural setting offers a truly unique experience for couples or a family to get away and relax. We even have a baseball field, hiking trails and an art gallery nearby. Come and enjoy!
